Rookie
Ashley's POV
I entered the office where Captain Gabi was waiting for us.
"Report." said Gabi
"Ma'am we ran into some trouble." I replied
Gabi stopped what she was doing and looked at us.
"What kind of trouble?" she asked
"We were captured by these mercenaries." I replied
"You what?" asked Gabi as she raised an eyebrow
"With all due respect ma'am Ashley-"
"Enough, I wasn't going to scold any of you." said Captain Gabi, "I'm glad all of you are okay, Kyle go to the medbay."
"Yes ma'am." he replied
He quickly left, leaving the four of us.
"I received the recording, you four did well." said Gabi
"Ma'am did you find out who this Yumi is?" I asked
"Yumi, she's one of the arms dealers for BHCP." she replied
"Why didn't we have clearance to kill her?" asked Damion
"We don't want to deal with the BHCP." replied Gabi
I fidgeted from my position and looked at Damion.
"Get some rest, we're going to have some new American Marines tomorrow." said Gabi, "One of them is a friend of yours."

The next day
Keegan's POV
"Be safe." said my mom, "You stick to your training and you'll do well."
"I know mom, don't worry about me." I replied
"I'll see you back at the Sentinel HQ." teased Rina
I just chuckled.
"I'll be with you in a year." said Emma
"Yea good luck in training." I said
Emma just nodded so I looked over to my dad. He looked like he didn't know what to do but I just hugged him.
"I'll be okay dad." I said
My dad stayed silent but he hugged me back.
"I know you will." he said
"All aboard!" yelled the sergeant
My dad patted my shoulder and sighed.
"I'll, miss you." he said
I could see him struggle to say those words.
"I'll miss you too dad." I replied
In reality I don't think I'll ever miss him, not even a single bit. I quickly said my final goodbye before leaving and getting on board a Boeing without looking back at my family. I took a seat and situated myself before the hatch closed and the Boeing began to move then took off.
'I'm finally doing what I'm destined to do.'

12 hours later
Keegan's POV
The Boeing jerked as it landed and slowed down to a stop. Once it stopped we all stood up and we quickly stretched it out before standing in a line waiting for the hatch to open.
"Move out!" yelled the sergeant
We all began jogging off the Boeing and into Camp Foxtrot, one of the biggest US/Eldian military camps in Afghanistan.
"Private Keegan Kan!" called out a Lieutenant
I approached him and saluted.
"You'll be with Whiskey Company, report to the Captain Gabi Braun." said the Lieutenant
'Gabi Braun, that sounds so familiar.'
I nodded and left and began walking through the camp until I got to the Captain's office. I knocked on the door and waited for a response.
"Come in." said a female voice
I opened the door and entered the room to a woman I recognized.
"Mrs-"
"It's Captain brat." snapped Gabi
'Bitch.'
"Sorry ma'am." I apologized
'What am I doing in an Eldian company?'
Gabi began writing things on her clipboard leaving me standing there for about a minute.
"Uhh ma'am, permission to speak?" I asked
"Granted." she replied
"What am I doing in an Eldian company?" I asked
Gabi closed a file and got up and approached me.
"This is not just a full Eldian company, it consists of both Eldian Survey Corps and US Marines." said Gabi
'The Survey Corp? But I thought they were just as rigorous as the Navy Seals and nearly as secretive as Sentinel.'
"You'll be put in a squad in the Marine Raiders." said Gabi
'Oh shit, that's not that bad.'
"Report to Sergeant Elkhart." said Gabi
"Yes ma'am." I replied
I saluted and she dismissed me so I left the office and began walking around the camp. I was trying to look for my station but then suddenly someone bumped into me and pushed me onto the ground.
"Well well well if it isn't Keegan Kan." I heard a familiar female voice
I looked up and standing over me was Ashley Jaeger.
"Ashley, holy shit I didn't expect you here." I gasped
She laughed and helped me up, I looked at her badge on her arm sleeve and I noticed that she had the Survey Corp badge.
"You're in the Survey Corps?" I asked
"Yea, obviously." she said while smirking
"Oh look it's Keegan!"
I turned and saw Milo, Thomas, Damion and Kyle.
"Oh fuck you're all here." I gasped
"It's been long man." said Damion as he shook my hand
"Yea it has, how have all of you been?" I asked
"No one wants to be in the middle of a damn civil war." sighed Thomas
"You got freakishly tall." I commented as I looked up at him
Thomas stood 6'5 and he was looking down at me.
"Yea I'm a very easy target out there." said Thomas
"Where are you stationed?" asked Ashley
"With someone named Sergeant Elkhart." I replied
"Oh him, heard of him. He's not that bad." replied Ashley
I then looked over to Kyle and I saw that there was a bandage wrapped around his arm.
"That injury looks new." I pointed out, "You good?"
"Yea I'm good, no worries." he replied
"It must be nice to have you in the military, if you're killed a war might start." I said
Kyle just chuckled while shaking his head.
"Anyways, hurry up and report to your squad. We'll see you soon." said Ashley as he pat my shoulder
I nodded and quickly left to look for Sergeant Elkhart.
"Excuse me where's Sergeant Elkhart?" I asked a soldier passing by me
"Straight down and take the second right." replied the soldier
I left without saying thank you, I followed his direction and got to my destination. There was a sergeant sitting on some steps slicing an apple and eating it.
"Uhh Sergeant Elkhart?" I called out
He looked up and examined me.
"Who are you?" he asked
"Private Keegan Kan sergeant. I was stationed with you." I said
"No you're not." he scoffed in disbelief, "Who the hell told you that?"
"Captain Braun." I answered
"Fuck's sake." groaned Elkhart
I saw movement to my left and when I looked over there were two soldiers carrying a body bag.
"I just lost a soldier and that sly bitch adds another one." groaned Elkhart
"Who's the bitch?" said a feminine voice behind me
I turned around and saw Zofia Reitsch.
"1st Lieutenant, you came at the perfect time. I don't need him." said Elkhart as he waved me off
Zofia eyed me then back at Elkhart.
"You have your orders sergeant and I expect them to be carried out." said Zofia, "Do you want to get court martial again?"
Elkart sighed and rubbed his bald head.
"Fine, but don't blame me for his death." said Elkhart
He gets up and leaves us.
"Follow me." said Zofia
"Huh, right now?" I asked
"I don't have all day." she replied
I quickly followed her as she walked in front of me.
"Ma'am I don't deserve to be with such a lowly bastard like him." I complained
"Just cause you're the son of Ajax Kan doesn't mean you're like him at all." she replied
I was taken aback by that, does she think that my old man is better than me?
"And just because you're his son doesn't mean you get privileges. I'll kill you if you disobey a direct order on spot." she said
'Who the fuck does she think she is?'
"Is that understood?" she asked
"Yes ma'am." I grumbled, "Is that why you wanted me to walk with you?"
She didn't reply so I assumed that it was all she wanted to talk about.
"Good luck with your first mission." she said
"My first mission?" I questioned
"Go back to Sergeant Elkhart." she replied
I nodded and quickly rushed over to my sergeant.
"Hey rookie hurry up and gear up." said Elkhart
I entered the armory and left my stuff. I quickly grabbed only the necessary gear I needed and put them on. I grabbed a M4 with a stubby fore grip, with a vortex AR red dot and with a tactical suppressor. I grabbed a standard issue m17 pistol and loaded it before putting it into my holster.
"Hey Rookie, get in the car you're driving." called out Elkhart
"Yes sergeant." I replied
I put on sunglasses then my helmet before leaving the armory to meet up with the squad.
"Okay everyone let's move out." said Elkhart
"Sergeant what's the mission?" I asked
"Just drive." said Elkhart
'Stubborn motherfucker.'
I got into the driver's seat and started the humvee.
'My first mission, maybe today's the day I'm going to kill someone.'
"Hey rookie you stay in the car when we get to our destination." said Elkhart
'Fuck.'
He showed me the map so I began to follow it and we got there in 30 minutes.
"Everyone get out." said Elkhart
Elkhart and the others got out while I just stayed inside the humvee. There were a bunch of civilians in front of us and there seemed to be some kind of ruckus. There were three more humvees parked behind me and I examined the chaos outside.
But suddenly there was a gunshot and one of the soldiers collapsed dead and the civilians started screaming and running around. More gunshots were heard and more soldiers began to drop dead. I looked over to my right just in time to see a taliban aim an RPG straight at me.
"Shit!" I yelled
I got out of the car just in time before the humvee exploded. I fell onto the ground but I immediately got up and took cover behind another car.
"Get inside the buildings!" yelled Elkhart, "Rookie get over here!"
I ran out of cover and ran towards Elkhart while keeping my head low so that I don't get shot. I ran into the building with a group of soldiers.
"Clear the building!" yelled Elkhart
We began to move through the hallways, tapping on each other's shoulder and killing any taliban inside. I didn't kill anyone and I tried to get a shot at it but someone would always stay in front of me. I entered a room with a Marine but it was clear but suddenly someone shot through a wall hitting the Marine I was with. I immediately ducked down once I heard the gunshot and began shooting at the wall hoping to get the hostile.
I slowly got up and walked out of the room and slowly made my way towards the next room. I got close to the door and I heard distant groaning and whimpering. I stood next to the door frame and waited for a few seconds before entering. But instead of a Taliban it was a little kid who was holding a pistol, he had a vest on and he was bleeding in the chest area.
"Leave him alone, he's just a kid." said Elkhart
But instead I aimed my gun at this kid's head and shot him, killing him.
"What the fuck?!" gasped Elkhart
"Fuck em kids, he had a weapon and he killed one of the Marines." I said
Elkhart looked like he wanted to say something but there were more gunshots outside so he just groaned and left me. I looked at the kid and shot his head again one more time just to make sure, blood splattering on the floor creating a puddle.
I left the room and began heading out with some other Marines clearing out the other floors. Once we were done killing all the hostiles inside the building we took out the Talibans outside on the streets. I shot a taliban clean in the head and then shot a gas tank killing 5 more talibans.
'7 kills.'
"Sniper on the damn roof." said a voice through my headset
I looked up and scanned the roofs of all the buildings until I spotted him so I shot him and part of his head exploded off.
'8.'
"Clear, get the wounded and the dead. The mission is over." said Elkhart

30 minutes later
Keegan's POV
"You killed a child?" questioned Captain Gabi
"Yes ma'am, he shot through the wall killing one of our Marines. I responded the way I was taught. But if I knew it was a kid maybe I would have hesitated." I said
"But the reports Sergeant Elkhart gave me, you said 'Fuck em kids.'" said Captain Gabi, "You would have shot the kid either way."
"I said I would hesitate, ma'am." I replied
1st lieutenant Zofia approached Gabi and they began discussing something.
"I'll let this one slide, it's not something that should be taken to court martial." sighed Gabi, "Dismissed."
I saluted and left the office in frustration.
'What did I even do wrong, the kid was holding a damn weapon.'
