The hunt pt.1

"They can sense me so they probably know we're here," Selene said getting off the bike as they stopped in an old burnt-off villa.

"Good location." Howard commented as he looked around at the familiar place, "This belonged to old John. The guy one day went mad and killed his family and then burnt the entire house with himself inside. Nobody knows why and the surrounding people think it's hunted so no one goes around them. Do you know when exactly did they moved in here?"

"Should be about a month ago." Selene said, "They killed two of my co-workers, and information on this location was the last letter they sent to us. I am guessing they probably lost control of their appetite due to the full moon and ended up attacking the bar."

"Is there any chance my friend might be alive?"

"We can only find out." Selene took out her knife, "How much confident are you?"

"How many of them are in there?"

"There were twelve of them and you killed one, so eleven." Selene said, "Also keep in mind that once they transform their strength grows by several-fold, so don't get too cocky on one lucky shot. Sigh! I really don't know what I am doing here with a human."

"C'mon it's fun isn't it?" Howard teased getting his face up close to hers, "Two good looking people hunting Lycan's sounds like the perfect date to me."

"Is it?" Selene played along, "We will see how much of a date it can be after this. Just hoping this night doesn't end with your innards all over the wall or worse on me."

Howard grinned, "Don't worry I am confident enough to handle the situation but I need someone to look after my back."

"And if you fail."

"I die and you might too considering if you can escape or not."

"It's simple huh." Selene readied herself, "I would feel more confident with my crossbow, but I guess this is the least I could do."

They walked inside of the villa pushing the barely stable door open. As the leader who still had one of his eyes covered came clapping. "Welcome, my dear guests."

"Don't you heal?" Howard asked quite curious about Lycan physiology.

"Of course but silver is a nasty thing." The man said, "We can chat about that later, but seeing how you're here with the Death Dealer I am guessing you already know the whole story. So I'll get straight to the point, join us."

"Umm as in your boy-band? Can I be the lead? Though I am not that great with singing."

"Be a Lycan like us. I don't know what you're but I know that you're a special human." The man smiled, "Imagine your current strength being modified to something much more. Being immortal, you should know being a Lycan has much more benefit than being a vampire."

Selene frowned as Howard sighed, "No offense to both of you but what's the point of being immortal when a piece of jewelry can harm you and I love the sun way too much to give up on that as well. And with the war and all, I am quite busy these days so how about a raincheck."

"Well, at least I tried asking nicely." The man snapped his finger as growling fully turned Lycans surrounded them from all angles, "I didn't want to force you but you leave me with no choice."

Howard came forward readying his gun, "One last question, where's Roman?"

"You'll soon find out."

The two Lycans lunged on to Selene and Howard pinning both of them down.

"Fuck! Your breath stinks." Howard nearly puked as he shot the werewolf right through his heart. The loud bang attracted everyone's attention as they saw the werewolf struggle on the ground panting in pain before it stopped moving.

"What did you do?"

Howard stood up dusting himself as he shot the Lycan who was already stabbed in the head by Selene pushing it off of her. "Silver Nitrate bullets inject Silver right into the bloodstream making healing impossible. Man, now I really understand why villains always reveal their plans to the heroes, it feels good giving them a sense of fear!"

"Get him all at once." The leader said transforming into a Lycan himself and before long all the remaining Lycans lunged at him.

Selene was punched away by a Lycan and the rest of them aimed at Howard. Frowning he kicked at one of the Lycans using full force but like he expected nothing happened as the Lycan grabbed his leg and threw him towards the wall like nothing. The crash was enough to immobilize or even kill any normal human but that's not what they were dealing with.

Two shots from the gun fired hitting the Lycan at the vital spots as Howard came running towards them, he climbed up the huge Lycan who was still struggling as he put another bullet right in its head. He quickly jumped towards the next Lycan killing it immediately with multiple shots but one of the Lycans immediately caught his hands. Not wasting time the other Lycans caught his other hand pulling his limbs apart.

Howard's scream reached Selene's ear as she finally dealt with the Lycan after her. She watched as the Lycans pull his arms apart kicking him off towards the wall. Looking at the bloody mess Selene felt a bit of a tinge in her heart but shaking it off she knew she had to do something as there were still six Lycans remaining. She was sure she could kill all of them but the chances of her getting out alive were zero to none.

The Lycans growled at Selene in a mocking way as they charged towards her. Selene quickly kicked off the ground reaching a high place as she lunged herself right towards one of the Lycans with her knife. The next Lycan immediately threw her off as she lost her knife still lunged into one of the Lycan's heart.

'Is this it?' She wondered. In her line of business, she was always prepared to die, after all, it wasn't so surprising, to begin with. A killer would always meet their doom the same way. She wondered if she should've waited for a backup that day but she knew if she did, the pack would again disappear and it might take years to find them again so she had no choice. She jumped away trying to hit the Lycan but another one punched her away.

The Lycans lunged at her throwing her around as they finally pinned her down digging their nails into her body but suddenly the Lycan who was doing so was shot right down as its blood spilled on her face.

"Quite rude of you to gang up on a lady like that." Howard who had finally regrown his arms back came forward looking not so pleased, "And it's really annoying of you to take me as someone so weak."
