"What the fuck are you looking at?" Howard annoyedly said as he put his shirt back on getting out of the bath, "To think after all this time I was cooped up in the lab, I would encounter such luck and it's surprising how among them taking a bath with another guy seems to be the worst one out of all."
"I am not enjoying it either." Steve rolled his eyes, "I am just having a hard time."
"With the whole immortality thing?"
"Yes." Steve nodded, "Who wouldn't? And not just that, this whole Island is still a mystery to me."
"Well, I can't blame you but try and not to think much." Howard shrugged, "That's why I refrain from telling the truth to normal people."
"Do you not age as well?" Steve asked still curious, "I mean, I thought you would be older when I heard about you."
"I am hitting 90 soon," Howard said as Steve stared at him with his eye wide open, "Don't ask much, I am already quite annoyed that I don't even look 20."
"But shouldn't you be keeping all this a secret? I mean the whole of the Island already know, aren't you afraid?"
"Well, if I didn't tell them the truth I wouldn't be able to come up with a better excuse for my injuries healing now, would I?" Howard said, "Besides I would be likely captured and tortured if I didn't go out my way to help them. And as for you... you would likely be dead before even a single person believes you."
"So is the war really ending?" Steve tried to change the topic feeling a bit uncomfortable with his casual gaze.
"It should if nothing goes wrong." Howard nodded, "But I am not sure that dear little Ludendorff would back out though, a bunch of psychos from what I've heard."
"You knew about them?"
"Not much, but I would get reports of the war every now and then, and I did hear about him and his troops." Howard said, "But who would've thought it was the same guy."
"What did you say?"
"Nothing." Howard shook his head as he felt someone snooping around, "You know back where we come from, creeping in like that when we're naked is considered sexual assault."
Steve was wondering who he was talking to when he saw Diana come in as she looked at the two of them.
"Would you say you're a typical example of your sex?"
"Far from typical, I am at the top." Howard casually shrugged as he put on his pants, "Even Steve here is above average."
Steve coughed awkwardly not trying to pay attention to what Howard was talking about.
"So what brings you here Princess?"
"I am curious."
"About?"
"Why didn't you leave?" Diana asked, "I thought you wanted me to throw you to the boat so you could escape."
"It's a German U-boat. So unless I want to get shot at and bombed before I even reach my destination, I wouldn't take it anywhere. I just wanted to check for anything useful I could salvage to get out of here." Howard said, "But I am more surprised that you would let me go like that."
"You saved my sisters." Diana said, "The least I could do was let you get away and not handle you as a prisoner which I was sure mother would do."
"I see." Howard smiled, "So what brings you here?"
"I am curious too." Steve said as he barraged her with questions, "What is this place? And who are you, people? How come you speak English so well?"
"We speak hundreds of languages." Diana said, "We are the bridge to a greater understanding between all men. And as for why I am here, I am quite curious too."
Steve nodded trying to process the whole thing, after all, today he had already seen a lot.
"Thanks though," Howard said as he put on his jacket, "For helping me and Steve out. Though I can heal, not being able to move would still be a bit of a problem. But I was wondering if I can ask you for another favor?"
"What is it?"
"I need to get out." Howard said, "I mean I can obviously sneak out but having someone to vouch for me wouldn't hurt in case I get caught or something, after all, all your sisters seem too wary of me. I need to check the condition of my plane and take any stuff that hasn't been damaged yet, so would you help me?"
"Follow me." Diana nodded as Howard looked back at Steve, "Stay here"
"Womanizer!" Steve cursed as he laid back inside the bath watching them leave.
"So how far does your immortality go?" Diana asked, "Do you really not die?"
"I have tried a lot of things but I just don't die." Howard shrugged as they walked through the forest, "In theory, unless the whole world goes poof or you manage to vaporize every single atom from my body, I should be still alive. But you're kind of the same aren't you?"
Diana looked at him and just smiled not saying another word.
'Why do every woman I encounter these days are beautiful immortals who are far from normal. Is there really a god looking out for me?' Howard rolled his eyes as he reached near the crash site. Thankfully the plane hadn't been washed up by the current and was still there. Getting in, he threw around all the things from within as he pulled out two of his modified handguns. The guns were an upgrade from the Dessert Eagle but it still held a similar design to it.
"Guess, I'll be needing more than just silver bullets now." Howard sighed, "But a kryptonite bullet sure has a nice ring to it."
"Is that one of those weapons?" Diana who had popped up behind him asked,
"Yeah but it's a bit more advanced," Howard said, "I am the only one in the world who own these, except one more if you count the older version."
"So you don't sell these?"
"I am not a monster." Howard joked as he also kept three vials of the healing serum which weren't still broken into his pockets, "Everything must flow according to time, so giving people more than they can handle would result in only more destruction."
Diana nodded as they walked backshore as Howard crashed into the beach looking towards the sky. Diana sat next to him trying to understand the man in front of her.
"If you're trying to learn about a man, then I really am not the one you should be looking at." Howard said, "It would only create more confusion if you were to meet more normal men."
"Are you tired?"
"A little." Howard said as he looked toward Diana, "I can see that you have some questions, go ahead."
"How do you live in the mortal world as an immortal?"
"Well, it's a bit annoying having to change identities now and again, and I know it's going to be more difficult in the future but with resources, mainly wealth I can manage."
"I see." Diana nodded, "So are there more of your kind?"
"Well, I have my brothers." Howard said, "They are the same as me, or to be more exact I would say there are more like me but with different powers."
Diana who was already more curious about the mortal world was more intrigued by Howard's power and his kind but she pushed it back for now asking the real questions she had in her mind, "You were talking about a force behind the General we were talking about earlier. Do you really believe so?"
'And the fish took the bait.' Howard chuckled on the inside. The current Diana wasn't the wonder woman in the future, currently, she was like a blank sheet of paper that could be filled with any color Howard wanted to, as long as it didn't go against her ideals. So he had to tread carefully with her.
"Yes, I indeed believe so."
