"What is going on?" Steve asked as Howard just shrugged at him, "Roman, you take your family and stay outside of the villa and where you deem safe and stay hidden for a while till the war is over."
"How long do you think it would take?"
"Not long now," Howard said as he looked towards Ray, "You have a smart kid, so I am guessing it won't be too difficult to adjust for a few days."
Chatting a little with Roman, his family left the villa taking one of the cars and driving off to a place not even Howard would know about.
"It's got nothing to do with you guys, so don't get too curious." Howard said towards Diana and the group, "And Steve you should leave, for now. I'll contact you if anything comes up."
Steve looked hesitant and was just about to leave when Victor came up from the basement grinning happily.
"What's going on?"
"I didn't know spies would be so weak, weren't they supposed to be a little strong-minded."
"Don't tell me you broke him."
"He's broken alright, my fastest record till date, but he did give me some information, and far as I know, it's all true," Victor said, "He doesn't know much about the whole poison bomb thing, but he did tell me about several hidden soldiers and spies willing to act at any given moment. All they need is backing and they will be willing to rage war when and wherever in command."
"That's assuring." Howard sighed, "I need some time to think, till then you all be prepared for battle and you know communicate with one another so you can at least form a bit of temporary trust in the field, to be sure you have each other's back."
Everyone nodded and agreed, even Diana who was ready to rush and jump into the battle anytime followed along. Steve hesitantly left but just when he reached the door he heard Howard call to him.
"And Steve as much as I don't want you to be involved in this, I don't have enough resources, for now, to handle everything due to the new circumstances so I'll put my trust in you this one time." Howard said, "Have your smuggler ready and find trustworthy soldiers in your circle."
"I won't let you down." Steve nodded enthusiastically.
"I can handle the money part of the operation but I can't afford any loose links. So anyone disabled or hesitant is out of the question."
Steve thought for a while and nodded.
"Good, bring them all in here tonight." Howard said, "We'll set out tomorrow and I'll explain all the things then. You heard Victor, so be careful of spies as well."
"Um, can I take one of the cars with me?"
"Sure." Howard nodded as Steve left the villa as well.
"It's the first time, I have seen you so confused." Victor said, "You were always ten steps ahead of everyone, so you running out of resources and changing your decisions is a first for me. Are you sure you didn't lose your touch, staying cooped up in your island?"
"Well, I didn't expect this plot to take place." Howard shook his head, "London isn't really my home for me to have ties here and I have been out of the light for too long as well. And the few remaining connections I do have will be required to hunt down these groups of spies in case they cause any trouble."
As they were chatting a man in an overcoat and hat walked in. "It's been a long time. But you should really up the security in this place, I just walked in and no one even noticed a thing."
"Good to see you." Howard nodded looking a little relieved, "Victor, James this is K, one of my spies."
"So you're the special spy, huh." Victor walked over looking at him from all angles, "He isn't anything special."
"Of course, Mr. Victor, I am just a normal spy." K said not taking any offense, "But you're exactly the same as I expected you to be."
"And what would that be?"
"Irrational, quick to jump to the conclusion, and a bit hot-headed." K said, "I had people cover your track in the war you recently came from, otherwise it wouldn't take long before rumors start flying around."
"You had people follow us?" Victor said looking a little annoyed.
"Well, I can't trust you to not let yourself go on your 'animal instinct'." Howard shrugged, "Like the time you ran straight into the rain of bullets and killing everyone and anyone in sight."
"Fuck, you seriously have some control issues."
"But he seems capable enough." James sighed, he didn't like the idea of being on watch 24/7 by his brother but who could stop him, "We didn't even notice anything different there."
"That's how we work." K nodded with a small smile.
"You should know that I've been working on a small company to train people like K here, and he's one of the finest people in the company so far." Howard said, "He was the one who tracked down the mutant here in London before you two screwed up things for me."
Victor and James stayed quiet pretending to not hear his words as K chuckled.
"It isn't a big mess as you think it would be." K said, "I have been on his tracks for months now and I know every single one of his patterns. Where he sleeps, what he eats, his type of women, and most importantly his hideouts."
"I called K here to solve the mutant problem, as you know having someone with powers will be a tremendous help to this mission." Howard said, "So I am giving a chance for you two to fix your mistakes. You'll leave with K and track down the mutant. Negotiate with him and bring him back by tonight, follow his orders, and make sure to not act out again."
"Yes, sir." Victor saluted sarcastically.
"Take care of them." Howard said as he threw a gun to K, "Anesthetic bullet enough to knock down an entire herd of elephants, use it when required."
"Yes, sir."
Victor and James made a bitter face as they grouped around K and left the compound as well.
"Wealth, Spies, and ruthless." Artemis said, "I am beginning to understand why your own brothers are afraid of you."
"Well, somebody's got to teach them responsibility." Howard shrugged, "There's a library in the upper quarters so you guys can go check it out, you know understand this world a little better."
"And where will you be?" Diana asked,
"Taking a nap and I need to perfect my plan as well." Howard said, "Also, don't act out by yourselves when I am gone. If there is one thing I hate in this world, it is an unpredictable circumstance."
