"The God of War is our responsibility, Only an Amazon can defeat him." Diana said as she took out her sword, "With this, and once I do the war will end."
"I don't really think it's simple as you say," James said looking at the sword.
"Leave her be," Victor said as he played with his claws, "Howard did say it will take her some time to adjust."
"Tell me about the war and the people here," Diana said seriously still not getting through with what she was taught.
While Diana and his two brothers were having a conversation, Artemis came back dressed in normal clothing looking extremely uncomfortable towards the balcony where Howard was.
"So you can look like a proper lady when you try to, huh," Howard said looking over at her as he took a sip of his whiskey, "What's that look for?"
"How can someone fight in these?" Artemis said in an annoyed tone, "And I am beginning to suspect you might be an alcoholic."
"I can't get drunk." Howard shrugged, "I just like the taste so why does it matter?"
"You should've asked then, I am sure we would have given you some of our wine," Artemis said.
"Wine from Themyscira, huh." Howard sighed, "I should have but there might be a next time. Anyway is there something you want from me?"
"I do." Artemis nodded, "I am curious about your ability. The way you can heal but more especially those claws that stick out of your brothers."
"You mean to ask if I have any weapons like that?" Seeing Artemis nod Howard continued, "Not really, I don't have a weapon like that of my own just more of a superior healing factor and that's where you come into play."
"The whole sword to your shield thing, huh?" Artemis shook her head, "But I can't understand why they fear you. I can see that they respect you a lot but it's based on fear more than it is based on trust. Obviously, with a similar ability, they do have an upper hand on you."
"Because I can be quite petty." Howard replied with a smile, "Forget about that for now, what do you think?"
"About what?"
"Humanity. It's clear you're not in a delusion like the princess over there so what's really going on inside your head?"
"I am indifferent." Artemis said, "I am a warrior, so I don't care who or what people are. If they are my enemy, I'll do anything in my power to stop them and if they are my comrades, I'll do anything to protect them."
"I am glad." Howard nodded, "At least, I don't have to go around teaching everyone about morals and humans. That sword of hers, is it really a god-killing weapon?"
"According to the legends, yes." Artemis said, "But we will have to see its power in the battlefield."
Howard was about to say something when he noticed Roman and Steve's return followed by a woman and child.
"It's as you said, they don't believe us completely," Steve said as he came towards them, "They think after this peace talk we will stop the war for good."
"Didn't expect much either."
"Three German spies followed us." Roman reported, "They are hiding outside the villa, I assume."
"Well, you know what to do." Howard looked at James and Victor who grinned and went out, "Make sure to bring one alive and cut their hands off before they feed themselves poison."
"Will do."
"Are you sure they can handle it?" Steve asked but the others who had seen them fight just chuckled.
"You have done enough for the country, Steve." Howard said, "I'll manage some papers for you and you'll be in a plane back to America by tomorrow."
"What do you mean?"
"They will be sending spies after you, so it's better to lay low for a while until we solve all this."
"I understand that, but I am asking what do you mean? Do you want me to run away?"
"If you want to put it that way."
"I have seen what their poison can do and how harmful it can be. I want to fight, if no one can, I'll do it myself." Steve said, "If I hadn't known, I could've just ignored it but now I am a part of it regardless and I want to see it to completion."
"Would your superiors allow you to?" Howard asked frowning a little, "You know we aren't just going in on a normal mission."
"I understand that we're fighting a god of some sort." Steve said, "But that doesn't cancel out the fact that there are people's lives are at stake here. I know I am no help when it comes to the supernatural but I can't turn my back on something I know will destroy lives."
"If he wants to do good we should let him." Diana came forward looking at Howard, "As long as he doesn't serve as a hindrance, having more people by our side will help us more."
"Yes and I can also help us smuggle into the enemy's base," Steve said, "I also have reinforcement who would be helpful for us."
"I'll think about it." Howard shook his head walking away from the conversation, "This must be your wife and son."
Howard came forward greeting Tina, Roman's wife, and their three-year-old son, Ray.
"I am thankful for all that you've done for us." Tina said as she caressed her son's hair, "Please help us."
"No worries." Howard nodded as he looked at Ray who was hiding behind his mother, "He looks like an ordinary kid to me, what's the problem?"
"He can, well it's hard to explain but you can see for yourself," Roman said as he crouched down and whispered something in Ray's ear. The kid nodded like a mature person as he came over towards Howard and touched him.
"Hello." A voice rang inside his ear as Howard looked at the kid with a shocked expression, as he said hello back inside his thoughts.
"Good to see you, Mr. Smith."
"So you can read people's thoughts?"
"Only when I touch them but..."
"Don't worry, you can tell me slowly." Howard nodded feeling a bit of distrust from the kid, "I am your father's friend, so hope we can be the same too."
Ray nodded going back to his mother.
"Enhanced intelligence, A form of telepathy and I am guessing there's much more." Howard smiled patting Roman, "You can rest assured, I'll do my best to help your son."
"Thank you." Roman nodded.
"Telepathy?" James and Victor came back carrying a guy on their back, "You mean this kid?"
"Stop scaring him, Victor. Go lock that guy up first." Howard said, "And yes, this little boy is one of us."
"You should have said so." James came towards them as Victor grudgingly took the spy towards the basement, "So that makes five of us."
"Five?"
"Oh yes, we still haven't told you about the mutant in London yet." James shrugged, "It's a guy who can turn invisible and pass through walls. So it's really hard to catch him."
"Let me guess, you two couldn't help yourselves and chased the guy like wild dogs until he finally managed to escape and now is nowhere to be seen."
James awkwardly chuckled as Howard took a deep sigh.
