Edmund Marks had never had an easy time of this thing called life. It had been more pleasant when he had been with Casse, but she wanted too much. That whole tv view of marriage and relationships was a drain. Honor, cherish, love, loyalty...that shit was just too hard. She never understood that.
Just because it was easy for her to settle down and be with just him and him alone? Hell no, he wasn’t cut out for that. A few months ago, he didn’t know how he was going to get by without her, but now as he watched his latest girlfriend cook him breakfast, he was glad he’d left before the baby was born. He had even considered finding her and forcing himself to ‘do the right thing’, for a moment there when it had gotten really hard. He had dodged that bullet. He didn’t need that weight in his life.
