Chapter 3: Confession

"You lose!" Hint, who's now grinning from ear to ear, winked at me. An hour ago, I'm still uncomfortable to be in the same place as him, but it turned out, he's actually quite fun to be with.

Hint challenged me in a basketball match. He proposed that the loser will treat the winner and I agreed since I’m confident with my skills in basketball. However, I never expected him to be also good with it. Hence, in the end, I lost in a neck-and-neck fight.

Honestly, I couldn’t even imagine that I will be able to bond with him like this. We're really not that close and we speak less whenever it's us talking in the group chat. Moreover, he never caught my interest because he’s too uptight.

"If I knew you’re also good in the game I would have never agreed to what you proposed earlier." I said in a playful tone. I admit, I really hate losing but I actually enjoyed the game to the point that I even forgot I was wearing an off-shoulder dress. Oh well, I promised to treat them anyway. It's just they set us up like this, what are they even thinking?

Obviously? They wanted us to start dating.

They are always rooting for us ever since. Though we don't make it a big deal to not spark any unnecessary commotion and in hopes that they will soon give up. Furthermore, I haven't even thought of it since he's not even my type and I already have a lot of things in my hand.

He's way too serious... too plain and boring. He doesn't like to participate with whatever chit-chat we're having.

But he's surprisingly witty and jolly in person. Maybe he's just too lazy to respond on our chats? Or he's just role-playing?

After losing on our basketball match, we took our time playing in the arcade together. We also tried playing different kinds of games such as laser tag, top spin and bowling. It's actually my first time playing everything and I certainly had a good time since he's a naturally good player.

"Want me to try this one?" Placing his hand on his pocket, he gave me a heart melting smile as we took our time leisurely standing in front of this claw machine. My eyes twinkled in excitement when I saw lots of cute stuffs inside. I badly wanted to have one of them!

"Really?" I beamed excitedly.

He immediately inserted a token and started positioning the claw. I was nervous and thrilled at the same time. Will he get it? I hope he will.

"Which one do you like? The blue ones or the yellow ones?" He's currently referring to Stitch and SpongeBob. Is he an alien or something? Don't tell me he didn't know them?

"The blue ones- I mean, Stitch." I blinked a few times as I watched him control the claw machine. My eyes bulged and hastily jumped out of joy when he hooked Stitch in just one swift move. He grinned proudly as he handed over Stitch.

"Great! Thanks a lot. I didn't expected that you'll actually hook it in just one try." I smiled shyly, happily examining the toy he handed over. I really like blue stuffs. It’s one of my favorite colors.

"Aw, you guys are so sweet!" A lady in her late 20's suddenly appeared in front of us. She's wearing a yellow tube partnered by a ripped jeans and high heels that truly suits her model like body.

Take note, she's not alone!

"Surprised?" The lady wearing an eye glasses arched her brows and smiled, showing her dimples. She waved at me and winked.

"I'm Jaen, by the way." She added.

Hint and I exchanged glances. We understood each other without even saying a word. They set us up and surveyed us the whole time we're together. Why didn't we noticed that earlier! They must be enjoying spying the two of us.

"You two look good together!" the one with the sun glasses complimented us.

"And you are?" I asked while examining her starting from her head down to her toes.

"It's me Rei!" She giggled and removed her sun glasses elegantly. She's currently wearing a simple yet classy purple V-neck high slit dress.

"I thought you're Miss Purple." I chided and started to smile in a friendly way.

"Sorry for setting you guys up. We really enjoyed watching you from afar. You two looked like a happy couple." Allison laughed genuinely.

"It's their idea." The guys shrugged as if they didn't even take part on deceiving and setting us up.

I shifted my attention to Hint and nodded at him when the girls pulled me into a corner. They started asking me few awkward questions.

"Is he still not your type?" Jaen begun nudging her elbow towards me as she nosily solicited for my response.

"Uh-" I didn't even have the chance to respond when Allison cut me off and started asking another question.

"What do you think? Why don't you try dating Hint? You won't actually fall for him, don't you?" I looked at her and saw her with pleading eyes.

My brows furrowed when Rei and Zarnaih slapped their hands together as if they just completed an important mission.

Why are they even pushing this too far? They're putting a lot of effort in hooking us up. I thought if we continuously ignore it, it will just stop. But I guess, I was wrong. Besides, I already told them a hundred times that I'm not yet interested in dating-

What if he fell in love with me and start asking about personal matters? You're just assuming things Summer! He won't ever fall in love with you! I silently told myself.

I don't even intend to be attached to them in the first place. I joined this world to distract myself and to temporarily escape from my reality, not to bond with people who are complete strangers.

"Sorry girls, I’m not planning to date someone at the moment. There's still a lot of things I need to deal with." I answered them politely yet indifferently, once again rejecting their opinions.
