ICECREAM SOLVES IT ALL

After my near death experience with Luka in the car, why the hell does he have a drivers license anyway his a danger to everyone on the road. But that's besides the point.

To make it up to me for almost killing ma because everyone else was so chill about the way he was driving, he brought us to a really cute café the one I was able to see from the kitchen window.

It's called Caffé Carlino, it's really close to the apartment and it's also closest to the University of Milan. It's convenient for traveller it's on a busy street, there's a bar on the far left of the cafe and to the right there is a store not sure what's inside.

It's got two doors and tables set outside for more space, inside a glass display that stretches to the right wall and to the left there is a counter where you pay from, after the counter there is a wall that separates it from a stairway that I'm not sure heads to. The walls are really colorful with yellows,blues,pinks and purples mixed in clouds and flowers, baby angles floating blowing trumpets.

Back to the display, there are so many different types of cookies, cupcakes, cakes, biscuits, creamy cookies you name it, seeing all these goodies is making my mouth water.

Seth and Sofia were at the counter and Luka at the display, I stood at the door still awestruck at the amount of deserts whispering for me to eat them. The clearing of a throat snapped me out of my reverie.

"Rain?" Seth's voice sounded amused.

"Yeah?" Walking towards him.

"What would you like? I'm getting a coffee,Sofia a hot chocolate and Luka icecream, what would you like?" It's like everyone in the cafe had eyes on me.

"Get icecream like me Rain! Please I got get you something amazing that would make your whole day" Luka coming closer than I was comfortable with, his hands pressed together like his praying.

"Let her pick what she wants Luka, but if you want a drink the hot caramel and chocolate with Oreo is amazing" Sofia said with a grin on her face, at this Luka sent her a glare

"Chiudere Sofia, you just want her to leave me out" turning to me "Bella pioggia please please pick icecream,you won't regret it" taking my hands in his.

Smiling slightly,"Okay fine , surprise me" letting him drag me to the display where different flavors of icecream was, I didn't notice it there.

Luka told the woman who was looking at me like I was an alien the flavors we want and she told him something in Italian but I wasn't paying much attention to the interaction, trying to avoid her eyes I looked at Seth who was holding Sofia's hand and laughing at something she said he caught my eye and I looked away.

Now I feel like a creep for staring at them like that, my cheeks flashed pink and I was really greatfull for my hair acting like a curtain from him.

A finger poking me in the rib got my attention, looking to Luka he pointed at the lady handing me the icecream in a ceramic bowl. Our fingers brushed and I felt a spark of recognition, my eyes snapped to hers and widened as hers did.

Now that I'm looking at her, her sink a creamy brown, her face heart shaped with high cheekbones a small nose and round full lips. But her eyes is what got my attention, they are the lightest brown and in a way they looked like there is a trace of orange in them.

I was about to say something but Luka pulled me away from the counter, when I turned to him he didn't notice my confused face and when I looked but to the woman she was talking to an older man with skin darker than hers but same features. Maybe his her dad, she pointed at me and I almost turned back to talk to her, only for Luka to pull me and I almost dropped my bowl.

"Slow down will you" I pulled my hand out of his.

"I'm sorry I just want to sit" he said sheepishly.

"Whatever" I huffed and toke a sit on the chair that's next to Seth but closer to Luka seeing as its a four sit table.

"What's wrong?" Seth asked .

"Nothing umh can we go?" I don't know if his noticed my mood change.

"Why? You were fun a few minutes ago, is it Luka did he say something?" Sofia also asked looking annoyed I don't even know why.

"No I just...You know know what it's fine, nevermind" I said looking at my icecream that's started melting, grabbing my spoon I scooped and put it in my mouth.

When the icecream touched my tongue, the sweet taste exploded, chocolate,lime, coffee and nutty toppings. I moaned softly and closed my eyes, all my previous thoughts gone now the only thought is why in the world is this icecream delicious.

Snapping my eyes open, I looked to Luka and grabbed his hand and looked into his eyes, he looked startled by my sudden movement.

"Luka?" Insenly calm

"Sì Rain?" He tried pulling his hand away but I hold it tighter.

"Sei incredibile" the words rolled over my tongue slowly, not saying it too fast in fear of saying it wrong.

"Wow o-okay...that's umh that's sounded hot" he let out and scratched his hair, his ears turning a bright red. Laughing at his reaction.

"Umh thanks?" not sure how to respond.

"Sei il benvenuto alla mia dolce metà" he said turning my hand to place a kiss with his cold lips.

"I'm sure you just said, I am welcome but the rest I have no idea" smiling at him and taking my hand from him, I continued eating the icecream.

"I said you're welcome my sweetheart, I could teach you a few things so that you get used to hearing it around everyone, because you'll be hearing alot of Italian" he said laughing slightly and eating his icecream too.

"I'd love that" turning to show him attention only for me to look ahead of me.

Sofia was desperately trying to get Seth's attention but his focus was on me, though Sofia didn't notice. He was watching Luka and I's interact, his eyes narrowed on Luka in an annoyed way when his eyes snapped to mine, I raised my eyebrow in question he just looked away and turned to Sofia who was going on and on about something that seemed to interest her even giggling a little.

During all this Luka's attention was fixed on the icecream in front of him and I followed suit Seth's reaction was not of any importance.

"Are you done, we still have to show you alot more" Luka said taking one last scoop of his icecream.

"Can we buy more to go please I'd love to eat this everyday" I said getting up to place an order Luka bought this one I'd buy more myself.

"Let me do that, it's a welcome gift" he got up too getting the bowls we were using for icecream.

"No thank you, you've already bought me some" shaking my head and getting ahead of him.

"Rain come on, don't be like that" reaching out to touch my hand but I pulled it towards me.

"No" turning away and chuckled a little.

"Okay let's split the bill, that way when I come over we can eat it together" catching up to me, seeing that the lady wasn't there anymore I wanted to see her and ask her her name.

"Fine fine, but it's only because you are stubborn" I looked over my shoulder seeing him behind me grinning like a mad man.

"Great" a young woman came out and she looked to be my age with her white tanned skin and reddish brown hair, she sent a flirty smile at Luka which he returned with a smirk.

Seeing Luka flirt was different his personality though childlike in a way, this just just shows more. He said something in Italian that made the girl giggle and push the loose straight hair behind her ear. Watching this made me smile at how easy this conversation was going next thing I'm seeing is her writing something on a small paper and going to the icecream section on the display and putting the icecream in a large tub and once done pushing it towards Luka.

Getting it from her with the paper, then winking at her which she blushed at.

"What was that" once we walked out with Seth and Sofia not far behind.

"Free icecream" he said grinning like a child one again.

"How'd you put that off" shoving him a little and laughing.

"I'm just that good Rain" he said puffing his chest.

"Of course you are" now full on laughing, I don't remember the last time I laughed like this, it feels great.

"Hey why are you laughing, I am" he whined and that just made me laugh more, tears running down my cheeks in pure happiness for a change.

"Can we get going? We can finish the tour later maybe tomorrow or something" Seth said sounding bored.

"Yeah I've got somethings to do" Sofia chimed in looking at her phone then locking it. "Mila wants me to cook dinner today, can you drop me off on your way home?" She asked Luka who was opening the car doors with the remote.

"Sì let's go" he was about to get into the drivers sit only for Seth to pull him out.

"No no, you are not driving" getting in himself.

"Aw come on Seth you never let me drive" Luka whined

"And why is that Luka?" Seth looked at Luka with and expectant glance, which Luka looked to the ground and grumbled a fine.

"Good now can we go, I have to be somewhere" he said turning the car.

We all got in Sofia in the front again, Luka and I in the back. Luka's music still playing, which is mostly pop and rap music Italian I asked him if he has anything in English he said it's only played when he feels like. He only played one song that was in english and that's "Baby Shark". And it's been on repeat on freaking repeat!

No one said anything, well apart from Luka who was talking with Sofia about classes they share together, they are all second year students and I'm the freshman but that's okay because I don't mind not sharing everything with them, apartment sure but if it continues on to classes meaning my social live will just be with them and I don't want that.

Seth was quiet only saying something when addressed, I was seated directly behind him and every few times he'd look at me through the little mirror up front.

Did I mention I was in a Jeep the lastest one at that, I'm not really into cars or whatever but being in one of the most luxurious cars gives me some type of feel of importance. Not even (the people that shall not be named) have a car like this and that says alot.

We arrived at a complex type of building and if you look further you can see the university, I guess we are at the schools on campus dorms or something.

Sofia unbuckled her seatbelt, got her phone charger as it was charging whilst we were driving after that she leaned over to kiss Seth on his cheek and it looked like he was caught off guard, Luka sharing the same look of shock and utter confusion. Why would they look like that? Aren't they dating? Because I've been getting that vibe.

"Umh okay?" Luka let out. Sofia then opened the door after smiling at Seth and Luka then turned to me and if I am not mistaken that looked like a smirk, barely noticeable but there.

I think my face said it all, I was very very confused. Why would she do that? I thought she was cool? Maybe I'm reading too much into this.

"Can we get Pizza? I'm starving" Luka said opening his door and walked over to the passengers seat. Once seated and seatbelt buckled the car was moving again.

"Yeah I'm hungry too, what should we order?" Still looking confused, you and I both buddy.

"Are you allergic to anything?" Luka asked turning to look at me.

"Not that I know of, no" I said I haven't checked my phone since this morning.

"Okay then you just have to try the Quattro Stagioni which is four seasons in Italian" he said with a dreamy sigh

"We could order more than that, give her the Italian pizza party, you know we Italians aren't just known for pasta but pizza too" Seth said sounding proud

Laughing at his dramatics, "Yeah okay I'll have whatever you order, I'm glad I have a week before classes actually start" I said leaning back into the car seat and relaxing as I looked out the window, watching as people moved in flashes not that we were moving fast but because I wasn't paying much attention to them.

"Yeah I was wondering why so early when originally classes are to start in October?" Seth said looking at me through the small mirror.

"I wanted to come early and get familiar with the place and maybe look for work" I shrug my shoulders and looked out the window, it wasn't a lie but it wasn't exactly the truth.

"Why do you want to work?" Luka asked still looking at me with a curiosity, he looks like a child sometimes with those green eyes of his .

"I just want to save up enough, for whatever I want and I'm used to working for what I want" I said, my word seeming not to please him.

"What would your parents think of that? Mine wouldn't let me do anything other than focusing on my studies of course." running a hand through his hair and leaning his elbow on the glove compartment.

"If she wants to work let her dude not everyone has mamma e papà doing everything for them." Seth's voice sounded hard and hurt. Why though?

"I didn't think of that" Luka said looking at his hands now, looking sad.

"Hey it's okay, it doesn't matter it doesn't hurt me anymore, I'm an orphan and I wasn't adopted but I met amazing people who helped me alot and I'm here today because of them" reaching out to touch his arm, I don't know why I told him that but seeing him sad just made my gut twist. Smiling softly at him once he looked at me.

"You are a beautiful person Rain, inside and out I don't even know you well enough but I can tell you are special" putting his hand over mine and squeezing a little showing support I guess.

"Thank you Luka you are pretty amazing too" I laughed softly when he grinned.

"Oh I know I'm pretty bella pioggia " he proclaim in a dramatic way.

"Yeah of course you are" noticing that we've arrived actually in the garage.

"Let's get that pizza and icecream shall we" when we got out Luka outstretched his hand for mine.

"Let's go" I took his hand and we walked towards the building.

Can this get any better...
