CHAPTER 10

Marietta P.O.V

Confusions, questions, and no answers. I forgot about 48 hours of my life and my life converted into a roller roster ride. Only God knows, what will happen next?

In few hours, I felt like my life was never my life.

We were heading towards the study room where Daddy called me to meet him. I could only hope for no more trouble regarding my luck nowadays.

I stopped in front of the huge wooden door and stared at it, afraid to step inside. I had not done anything wrong still, there was a fear in my heart because I knew no one believes me.

Veward looked at me and nodded to me to go inside. I nodded back before taking a deep breath.

Bracing myself, I stepped inside after a knock. The beautiful scent of books entered my nostrils and warmly welcomed me. Our study was a really large one, as everyone in this house had a different taste. From novels to poems and prose, biography and autobiography, you could found everything here.

You would find all kinds of books here which gave this study a glimpse of the central library. It also consisted of the most luxurious furniture ever, from table and sofas to wooden cabinets, all bookshelves, and paintings, to all kinds of light and heavy yet soft decoration. Everything was very luxurious here.

Daddy was sitting behind his mahogany desk with his glasses on. He was so engrossed in reading some papers that when he felt my presence, he lifted his head only for a moment to acknowledge me with a nod, and again started to do whatever he was doing.

I gulped in nervousness, biting my lower lip.

After a few minutes, when anxiety was doing its best on me, Caro entered the room and stood beside me. We both looked at each other confused.

What on earth did Daddy want to do?

She gave me a look, 'What-are-you-doing-here?'

I passed her, 'Daddy-wanted-to-see-me.'

She passed, 'You-too!' and rolled her eyes.

After five minutes, Liam entered the room and after him, Veward too. Noticing both of them, Daddy said without raising his head, "Can't you both stand outside silently and let me talk with my daughters privately?"

They both looked at each other, Liam glared at Veward and he, on the other hand, stuck his tongue out at him. I bit my laugh. In a confused and anxious atmosphere, only he could manage to make me laugh.

After that pin-drop silence fell in the room. Only the noise of the paper could be heard. We were standing in a row in front of Daddy's desk like waiting for our commander to gave us an order. In the middle, me and Caro while enclosing us in a bracket, Veward, and Liam.

"I want to tell both of you something." Daddy said, pointing at me and Caro. We both exchanged looks while he grabbed all the papers and put them in a file.

"We have a lot of work pressure these days. We have to stable the position of our company as it used to have. Caro knows that we cannot afford any more crises in business for now." He put his glasses off and rubbed his eyes.

"Because our company doesn't only belong to us, many people are working together day and night to fulfill the various demands of clients. And the position we had been, it's the result of their hard work and efforts. So, I don't want to disappoint them." Daddy said in a business calm and polite tone.

"I can understand," Caro nodded.

'And I don't want to understand!' I murmured in my mind.

"Lately our shareholders are creating problems. They want to take back Marie's shares. But we can not afford that." He said and looked at me. As if, it was my fault.

"So, I have transferred Marie's shares to Caroline." He declared blankly.

"WHAT???" Three of them shouted at a time that I had to cover my ears with my hands.

"I don't mind. I don't need any shares as long as you guys are on my side," I said and these three idiots stared at me as if I had grown two heads.

"As I have already told. I'm not interested in business. I just want one thing, believe me..... I didn't do anything. I'm innocent." I added helplessly. Ignoring three pairs of eyes boring holes in my skull.

"I'm not finished yet." Daddy looked at me, totally ignoring my plead. "I decided to lock Marie in her room until we'll find the truth."

"WHAT?? WHY??" This time, it was me who shouted at the top of her lungs.

"So, you don't trust me, right!" I whispered yelled dishearted.

"I have specially hired two best guards to keep an eye on you. So that you won't escape easily. We are on losing our main shares because everyone is suspecting you. It would be better if you stay at home." He ordered and ignored me, and my every word. My heart shattered as I fight back the tears.

"Then what about my school?" I tried to reason out so that he could again think about his decision.

"I'll drop out your name." He replied simply. As if, it mattered nothing to him. I bit my tongue to stop the tears that were threatening to fell.

"But.." Before I could argue more Daddy said something that made my mouth shut, "Also you don't want to tell us about how did you come home? How did you get out of the car? Or where you have been last night?"

"Because I don't know!" I yelled frustrated. He glared at me and pin-dropped silence prevailed once again.

I had to find out the answers to these damn questions!

Caro broke the silence by saying, "But that's not fair, Dad. We can't let this issue affect her studies and don't give her shares to me. It's unfair. I don't need her shares."

Out of blue, I looked at her with wide eyes and confused. Was she taking my side in front of Daddy? How did this miracle happen?

"I'm not giving her shares to you, it's just the need of hours." Daddy snapped.

"But...." Caro again tried but Daddy cut her off and said,

"No more discussion. Dismiss!"

We walked out of the study room in silence and saw two guards were already standing out there. They looked cold in nature and rude by facial features. Edition to their bodyguard uniform which was black as usual, giving me nausea already.

"Miss, please come with us." One of them said. I closed my eyes and deeply exhaled. This was not right.

I opened my eyes to found Caro was looking at me with pity and concern in her eyes for the first time for ME!

A smile broke on my lips to saw concern in her eyes for me. A little part of me was glad about all the mess that happened. Because it was the first time in my life she had done something for me.

"Don't worry you'll be out soon. Cops will soon find out the truth." Liam said with a soft smile.

"Please guys don't behave like this. I can't digest it. I certainly not dying yet." I said with a small chuckle.

"God forbid! Shut that stupid mouth of yours and go to your room." Caro, to my utter shock, said, glared, and stormed away.

I gaped at her while Liam went behind her, after giving me a small encouraging smile. And Veward here was space out.

Shaking my head, I started to walk towards my room with slow steps, trying my best to took as much time as I could to reach my room.

It was annoying the way these guards were following me and the way Veward was silently following too, it was adding more annoyance to my already annoyed temper. I didn't have any need for him to drop me at my room, where I was going to lock.

Shouldn't he need to say something? Anything that concerned me or encouraged me. Wait...What the hell was I thinking? I shook my head to get rid of these thoughts. I didn't need him to encourage me.

I opened the door of my room. A feeling of nausea hit me at the sight of it. I had a beautiful room with a walk-in closet and the most expensive things. A king-sized bed, big windows on both sides of the bed showed the outer view of the backside of our mansion. White and pink decoration, a desk with my laptop and some books. A big wall mirror on the other side.

"Goodnight. Go and sleep tight." Veward smiled at me and left. While I looked at his retreating figure with furrowed brows and clenched fist.

Idiot!

But why was I angry at him when my father had trapped me in my room? When own my father didn't trust me what could I say to others.

Cursing Veward as I couldn't curse my father, I entered my room and slammed the door with a loud thud.

What a pity! Glancing at my room made me remember Rapunzel who was also trapped in a tower because of her mother. Although her mother was a stepmother but still. In her case, she had golden blonde long magical hairs that could cure all kinds of illnesses. On the contrary, I had nothing like magic or something. But still, I was trapped because of incapability that I couldn't prove my innocence.

It all happened because of that masked savior. Nor would she saved me nor I had to tolerate all this. I could die in peace too just like Al and Mia but alas... Who was she? Why did she always save me and disappeared? How could she save me was still a mystery? Did she really know magic?

I smiled at the last question. How could it be possible? But a part of me was saying it was possible. I shook my head hard to avert these thoughts.

The rest of the 3 hours passed like years. So many silly and impossible thoughts came about the masked savior and I shook them away. And at last, I felt tired and collapsed on my bed with my eyes closed when my stomach growled in hunger.

When was the last time I have a meal?

I walked towards the door, opened it and two devils greeted me outside with bored faces.

"Can I go out?" I asked.

"No." One of them replied.

"What if I'm hungry and want to go to the kitchen." I again asked with a possible calm voice.

"No." That one again said.

"Just to the kitchen," I glared.

"No." He again replied.

"Ok," I said and shut the door. Couldn't he speak any other word except 'NO'?

Clenching my fist in anger I turned the lights off and lay down on the bed. I had to do something. I made a list in mind and soon sleep enveloped me.

1: Find Real culprits.

2: How did I come home?

3: Find Masked Savior.

4: What happened to me in the last few hours?
