Chapter sixteen

The silence that took over the room made Rishio swear to yey'r self that yey could hear the elusive call of the night hounds. Yey knew to expect hostility from the alpha but yey did not expect it this soon or this bluntly.

"What is your problem? These are my guests so they can sit anyway they want." Alpha Ejana replied to the alpha who stood at the opposite end of the table. Clearly not phased by the alpha's childish attitude, gur did not even make an effort to meet the young alpha's eyes, an action that clearly annoyed alpha Laiyeni. Maybe it was gur's fa actions that pissed him off or the fact that gur might have decided to give up on life at that moment that prompted alpha Laiyeni to say,

"I am just surprised that disrespect your dead partner to the extent that you let an omega sit beside you, a spot that only one's partner can occupy, what are you trying to insinuate fa? That you are ready to move on, so you are replacing your one and true love? If that is even what ma was to you." Alpha Laiyeni finished with a sneer directed to the older alpha.

Rishio knew what was coming next, yey expected it as yey has seen multiple times what happens to people who undermined the love Alpha Ejana had for Risean. The old alpha was never known for gur's patience or kindness, back in the day gur's name made shivers race down the other alphas' spines, omegas did not dare walk on the same path as gur, as gur's explosive temper and nature was well known. So, the fact that alpha Laiyeni said what gur did was not because gur did not know about this , no, this young alpha was clearly testing Alpha Ejana trying to test gur, a not so clever move.

Immediately those words left alpha Layieni's mouth, the next scene happened so fast that no one at the table would have believed it had happened if it was not for the way Alpha Layieni's body flew out the room and landed in the living room with a loud thud and what could have been a break of a bone, if not two, Alpha Ejana was now standing at the former position of the young alpha, composed as if gur did not just punch gur's child, gur was so calm, not a single hair out of place, to anyone watching from outside the alpha seemed normal, well except gur's bloody fist that was clenched.

However to the ones' seated at the table, the murderous aura that the alpha was emitting was almost unbearable, especially to the omega who was at the verge of choking due to lack of air, alpha Sherak and young Ourine were not in better shape as Alpha Sherak was struggling to sit up straight and poor Ourine who never encountered an agitated alpha's pheromone was holding gur's breath as the scent threatened to choke gur into submission.

"I want you to repeat what you have just said, but this time remove all the bullshit from it." Alpha Ejana told the alpha before gur, who was spitting out the blood that filled gur's mouth wincing at the pain from wound from gur's burst lip. Alpha Ejana calmly walked towards alpha Laiyeni, who tried to get up only to fall back down as gur felt pain shoot up from gur's leg. When gur looked down to examine it, gur discovered that there was a tear, probably from the glass that had been shattered when their glass table broke gur's fall. Gur did not have time to think about the wound as new pain came from gur's head as the older alpha grabbled gur's hair, yanked it back so as to force gur to look at gur's face.

The angel of death was killed earlier in the war, many many years ago, however when Alpha Laiyeni made eye contact with gur's fa, gur was sure that that the same angel had came to collect gur's soul. The always gentle eyes of gur's fa were now filled with murderous rage made gur's whole body stiffen, frozen by fear. Death that was what gur had invited and death was what was coming with the next punch that alpha Ejana was swinging towards gur.

"There was no way I can stop this, even blocking it will break my arms." Gur's eyes widened as gur realized all gur could do was wait, quickly closing gur's eyes alpha Laiyeni waited for the punch to land, praying that the adrenaline coursing through gur's body would numb the pain.

The gentle shove on gur's cheek by the older alpha's fist made gur's closed eyes spring wide open with surprised, looking up at alpha Ejana gur expected everything but not the gentle look that was on gur's face, the words that came from the alpha made alpha Laiyeni grit gur's teeth.

"Yey would be so proud of you you know, I know this cause I am. Though yey would also be very pissed that we broke yey'r favorite table." Alpha Ejana said gently to the young alpha, chuckling at the end while thinking of how gur's partner would have made gur go out to the Centre for a new table immediately, no matter how late it was.

Bringing back gur's attention to to alpha Laiyeni, gur did not miss the tears that had welled up in gur's eyes. With a click of gur's tongue alpha Laiyeni roughly wiped the tears off gur's face and got up, hiding the wince of pain that tried to make its way out of gur's mouth with a hard swallow, gur shoved the older alpha out of gur's way and started to walk away from the mess they had made, as gur passed Alpha Ejana gur said,

"You do not know shit." And limped angrily to gur's room, leaving the alpha standing alone in the living room gur's back towards the dining room where the rest were just gaining their composure after the older alpha suppressed gur's scent and alpha Sherak opened the dining room window to let in fresh air so as to replace the pheromone filled air in the room.

Releasing a tired sigh alpha Ejana looked at gur's partner's photo that was staring back at gur from the wall before gur where it was hanged on, stretching out gur's hand gur stroked it fondly and said,

" Even after death you still keeping me from being reckless. Thank you darling." Directing gur's words to gur's dead partner.

Letting go of the photo gur cast a glance towards gur's elder child's room debating whether to go in or not,

" That is tomorrow's problem." Gur said to gur'self as gur walked back to the dining room.

Dinner more or less was ruined, as they all ate with a heavy atmosphere that had settled heavily in the room. When everyone was done with their meal, alpha Ejana requested, more like told, everyone to head to sleep and that gur would deal with the clearing of the table and cleaning up, they all knew that gur indirectly told them that gur needs time alone and no none should bother gur.

Rishio could see that alpha Sherak wanted to stay to comfort gur's fa but decided against it, yey also wanted to stay with yey'r teacher however, apart from the alpha's decision, the earlier events and alpha pheromone threw yey'r body out of balance, a painful reminder of yey'r gender besides yey was tired from the long journey yey'r and Ourine were just from.

"Rishy will I ever get strong like Alpha Ejana?" Ourine asked Rishio, at this time, Rishio was tucking gur to bed.

"Well that depends on how much you want to." Rishio answered.

"What does that even mean? You know other people would have answered with a 'yes' or 'no'." Ourine complained.

Chuckling Rishio, answered the whining child,

" It means that if you really want to be as strong as gur or even stronger than gur then nothing will ever stand in your way, well unless you let it."

"So, yes?" Ourine inquired.

"Yes." Rishio answered with a short laugh.

"Awesome cause gur was so cool, the way gur just flew across the table and then 'Pow!' 'Bam!' 'Crash!', and then gur said , "say that again but remove the bs" so cool." Ourine squealed while rolling on gur's bed.

"Hey, do not get too excited you still need to sleep." Rishio told the child as yey tucked gur in again.

" You really want to be strong like gur?" Rishio asked.

"No I want to be stronger than gur, so that I can finally beat gur and prove Sherak wrong." Ourine said smugly as gur settled back in bed.

"Mmmh, and any thing is possible, but first you need to sleep, you have had a long day." Rishio said trying to end the conversation so that the child could decide to sleep.

"Rishy, one last question, I promise the last one." Ourine added quickly when gur saw the disapproving expression on Rishio's face.

Giving in the the almost begging child, Rishio answered,

" Fine what is it?"

A slight pause from the child made Rishio a bit concerned, as yey understood that the question has been bothering the child for some time for gur to hesitate to ask it.

"It's just... Will Laiyeni be okay? I mean gur just had a fight with gur's parent and got beaten up, I would be crushed if I went to bed without making up with you." Ourine asked sadly, genuine concern seeping from gur's voice for the alpha.

Rishio gently responded to the child while stroking gur's cheeks as if trying to pat the worry away,

"Don't worry, they will be okay, they are family trust me they will always come together, no matter how much they fight."

After a slight pause ,as if to asses the honesty in Rishio's words, Ourine replied ,

" Okay… Goodnight now." Then snuggled into gur's bed closing gur's eyes.

Rishio gave Ourine one last pat on gur's head and replied to the child's goodnight,

" Night too."

Pushing yey'rself off the bed yey headed to the door. Before yey left the room yey asked the child,

"You know where my room is, right?"

A nod from the child confirmed that gur did, with one last look at Ourine, yey switched off the lights, closed the door and headed to yey'r room.

As yey headed to yey'r room, the soft clanking of utensils and sound of running water reminded yey'r of yey'r hurting friend. Yey was tempted to go and comfort gur but yey knew that company was not what the alpha needed right now, besides yey'r yey'rself was not the best emotional companion.

"You got this Teach," Yey whispered under yey'r breath knowing that believing in yey'r friend's decisions was the best yey could do at this time for yey'r teacher.

Opening the door to yey'r room, yey let out a tired sigh, feeling as if the day they have just gone through was a whole lifetime.

"There is always tomorrow." Rishio said to yey'rself as yey entered yey'r room, locking the door behind yey'r, done for the day.
