Electric Beast

The small crowd was hovering over the fight of Avery J. Hollander and a man were interrupted by a boy who seemed eager to rack up a brawl.

The crowd whispered to one another at the scene unfolding. They looked at the boy, Blitz, who was glaring daggers at Avery's eyes as his right hand emitting electricity was solely focused on him. Soon the crowd whispers began to fall into silence. There was no sound of anyone's voice but the wisps of the wind blowing through the city.

Avery J. Hollander looked at Blitz who had fire in his eyes. The young man with spiked brass knuckles laughed.

"Seriously, a small fry like you? Wanting to go against me? Don't make me laugh."

"Someone once told me that if you treat others bad, they'll treat you bad.", Blitz said as his eyes did not move anywhere else but on Avery himself.

"You don't get it kid. This man right here took everything from me.", Avery pointed at the man he beated, now being at the side of his wife.

"Everything. And you're in the way. I'll admit, you're brave to go up against me, unlike that wanker. Let's see how long you're last."

"Bring it!" Blitz shouted as he pondered both of his fists. He felt the electricity go up into his body. Electrical currents going up his veins, with his blood pumping and heart pounding in excitement.

The crowd was frozen in place, nobody knew what was the right thing to do, whether it was to stop them or let them fight. They went with the second option.

"Why doesn't anyone do anything?", the woman from earlier wondered.

"Fiona." her husband spoke as his wound from Avery began to bleed. "I think that kid is trying to help."

"How do you know that?"

"I don't know. I just...feel it".

"You're dead meat!", Avery lunged forward as his right fist with the brass knuckles targeted Blitz, who dove away at the last second. The boy began hitting and kicking him in the lower parts of his body.

"Hold still you little bugger!", Avery shouted once more as the crowd began to roar in cheers, not knowing who they were cheering. The young man with the brass knuckles punched downward at Blitz, but it only made the spikes of the knuckles get stuck in the ground.

"Shite", Avery said as Blitz punched him in the face. The boy could see his electrical punch meeting Avery's face. He gave a second punch. Then a third, fourth, and fifth. Avery used his left hand to pull his right arm, freeing the knuckles from the ground.

"All right you little brat, I ain't going easy-", Avery stopped as his vision began to twirl. Shaking his head he now looked at his opponent. "What the heck?

Blitz was engulfed in electricity as his eyes turned black and his pupils the same blue like color as his electricity. Blitz held his right hand toward Avery, shooting a bolt at him.

"Agh!" Avery shouted in shock as he tumbled onto the ground, backing away as the boy began to near him. Electricity started to spiral out of control. "Stay back!"

Blitz shook his head. He lunged forward to Avery, pinning the young man down as the small crowd around them gasped. Blitz screamed with all of his might as his electrical hands began choking Avery, electrocuting him. Avery screamed at the top of his lungs as his eyes watched in horror of the lightning child pinning him down.

"That's enough!", said a guard pulling away Blitz while others held Avery back.

"Get him away from me! GET HIM AWAY!" Avery shouted.

"Goodness almighty, what the hell happened here?" a guard asked as some people in the crowd were silent or raised their shoulders.

"I believe I can address that." A voice spoke, it was the man Avery had fought earlier. "This atrocious individual, Avery J. Hollander, assaulted me out of the blue. I was unable to fight back, then this brave boy decided to come along and distract Avery, while I believed someone called the guards". He pointed toward Blitz, who was struggling to break free from the guard holding him. Then, a folded piece of paper dropped from the boy's pocket. One guard took it and folded it open. His eyes widen at the content.

"Well I'll be. It looks like we got one of the Blightworth escapees", the guard said looking at Avery. "Take him to the station and notify Scotland Yard. They'll be wanting to hear about this."

"Hey wait a minute!" Avery shouted. "Take that child too! He is as insane as I am!"

"The heck are you talking about?" asked the guard.

"You heard me! That child is not normal. He's dangerous! He tackled me like a wild animal and he had electricity coming out of him, do you hear me? Electricity!". Avery shouted as he only got odd expressions from the guards and the crowd. "Come on! You all saw it!"

The guard folded his arms as Avery continued. "Come on officer! Look at him. Surely he's also a Blightworth patient!!"

The guard replied to Avery by looking at Blitz, who looked at him with a straight expression. He scoffed at Avery.

"Yeah right" the guard said. "Like we'll believe that child is a mental health patient. Honestly you're even crazier that you look. Electricity? Coming out from that child? Now that's news worth reading. Let the kid go."

"Yes sir." the guard holding Blitz replied by letting go of the boy. Blitz only watched as Avery was dragged away from the guards, presumably to be detained in a cell. The small crowd that was once there was now slowly disappearing as everyone had returned to their own business.

"Goodness young boy" the woman from earlier said to the boy, checking for any injuries. "You could have been seriously hurt! What were you thinking?"

"I wanted to help." Blitz defended.

"It's okay, he did what he thought was right", said 's husband. "I commend you on your bravery boy, I thank you for helping me. But she has a point. You should be more careful next time. "Allow me to introduce myself, my name is Gregory Alcott. And this is my wife, Fiona. What's your name?"

"Blitz."

"Blitz, I owe you for helping me get away from Avery, if there's anything I can do to repay the favor, name it."

Blitz took out the photograph of Little Oliver. "I'm looking for my brother. He's somewhere in this city but I don't know where to find him."

"Hmm...." Alcott saw the picture before giving it back to Blitz. "You're in luck Blitz. My grandfather is actually the chief of police here in Bentham. Perhaps he can help you with this. I'll be sure to let him know about this. When I receive any word from you, I'll let you know right away."

"Thank you!" Blitz hugged Alcott with a joyous tone. The man was startled but returned the hug.

"No thank you, Blitz", Alcott said with a smile. "If it weren't for you, I don't think I would see my wife in one piece". Suddenly the trio were greeted by a lady in a blue dress.

"Brother! I heard Avery started a fight with you". She stopped at the sight of them. "Where is he?"

"He's arrested, Mary. Thanks to this kid here" Alcott said rubbing the boy's hair.

"Wait, you're Mary?", Blitz asked.

"Indeed I am. Why do you ask"

"Griffin wanted me to give this to you", Blitz said, taking out the small jewelry box before giving it to her. "He sends his regards."

"Oh! Thank you." Mary said accepting the box, with the boy not noticing the slight blush on her face.

"I think I'll be going now", Blitz said walking away.

"Goodbye Blitz! Stay safe" Gregory Alcott said to the boy before facing his sister. "Now, mind telling me who this "Griffin" is?"

"Ehehe...that is a long story...brother, said Mary.

Blitz was walking toward the streets. The skies were cloudy, yet the smoke from some factories began to fill up the sky itself. He hoped he wouldn't rain. As he walked along the sidewalk Several people walking past him were whispering to one another.

"Isn't that the kid who caused a roar near the Opulent District?"

"I heard he tackled a young man a few years older than him."

"I saw his opponent being scared stiff at him, and mentioned something about that kid having electricity in his body."

Blitz saw their eyes looking at him, but he ignored that. He proceeded to walk into an area of the city of what seemed like the busy hour. Carriages carrying people passing by. Bystanders just walked along and some were talking to each other, sharing laughs and stories. The boy soon stopped as he hitted into something.

Or rather...someone.

"Oh it's you", Griffin had bumped into the child causing him to fall on the sidewalk. He helped him up to his feet. "You know I wondered what took you so long to give the box to Mary, either you were lost or you ended up in something bad. Turns out it was the latter". He said as Blitz looked at him with his jaw opened. "Yeah, I followed you the entire time. I saw you pick a fight with who looked like a Blightworth escapee. You looked like you could handle yourself but I had the liberty to call the guards for safekeeping"

"B-b-But how? I didn't see you on the streets."

"That's because I wasn't on the streets", Griffin pointed to the rooftops of some buildings standing close to each other. Blitz's eyes widen once more. He eyed several pipes linked onto the buildings.

"How did you get on the roof?" Blitz asked.

Griffin pointed to his head before tapping it several times. He smiled in smugness. "Logic. Nah not really, I just climbed the damn things. It's fun to look at the city from there, and we'll hide from someone just in case.

Want me to teach you?"

Blitz nodded.

"Alright then. Follow me", Griffin said as he escorted the boy to a nearby field, where they stopped at a house that had pipes on the side. The pipes looked old but to the boy's eyes the gold color on them made them look rich. "The city takes care of its water supply, so don't be surprised if people have their houses with pipes around them". "Alright pay attention". Griffin replied as he began to jump onto a pipe, grabbing the straight edge before bringing himself up onto it. "Okay, you try."

Blitz jumped onto the pipe but was unable to grab the edge. He grumbled, then he noticed a smaller yet bigger pipe. He took his footing onto that big pipe, before Griffin pulled him up to his position. Griffin soon ran up the wall of the building and made his way onto the roof. Blitz imitated him.

"Not bad kid. Not bad." Griffin said before walking through the rooftops. He stopped at one point where the boy also had followed him. "Heh, school kids." He noticed a building where it was filled with many children. Boys and girls running around and playing with each other.

"Leave me alone Collins!" said a voice that perked Blitz's ears.

His position wasn't too far from the girl that said that. He eyed the girl, who was being bothered by some boys. His eyes widened at the sight of her.

"What's wrong?", Griffin asked. "Do you know her?". No answer. All he got was Blitz trying to climb his way down immediately. Soon Griffin saw him running toward the school.

"Blitz wait!" Griffin yelled out but the boy didn't hear him. "Damn it, to think I wanted to tell him about Hammond might have a lead on his brother" He stood up. "I guess it'll have to wait"

Blitz stopped in front of the school. He could see Madeline Thorpe being bothered by some boys. He recognized the leader. Collins. With his hands emitting electricity, he clenched his fist.

And walked straight there....
