One hour passed by, and Julius was already in bed with his wife to rest from the long night. He needed just as much rest as his wife and daughter needed from the long feast of dedication. It was rather clear that he reminded the beast inside of him to stay away from Lucy and Lagertha while he was with them. He may be the most powerful of any demon and human the world will soon know, but he still loves his family more than anything. He slept with his wife and did not feel any sudden change or transformation while being at his home.
Meanwhile, Lagertha was also sleeping in her room and still thought about all the things she wants to do when she meets Brant again. Despite him being a relative, she saw a connection between him and her and wanted to form a relationship with him. But then, she felt a great breeze run through her window and revolve all over her body. She covered her bare body with her blanket to make sure the breeze does not make her freezing. Then, she opens her eyes and wakes up as the breeze seems to get even louder than it needed to be.
The wind was blowing unnaturally, and she knew that it did not seem right in her eyes. It was as if some force from within was calling Lagertha and wanting to speak with her as the night is ending. Then, she gets up from the bed and puts her clothes back on, and she looks outside the window to see what was happening. According to herself, she wanted everything to go straight to the point; she needed to know what was going on and why her sleep had been interrupted. She then puts her boots on and walks out of her room and goes outside, and she makes sure her mother and father do not hear her walking.
Julius and Lucy were heavy sleepers, so it was easy for them to sleep soundly and not check the house to see if it is still intact. Luckily, Lagertha could slowly open the door and leave it open so she does not get locked out. She even did not know why the massive wind would blow so strong when this was not a problem with Julius. Then, she took a few steps forward from her porch and saw a white wolf walking towards her. This wolf was no demon and served no evil, but he knew and understood everything about the darkness the night creatures bring.
The white wolf sat down before her and looked straight into her eyes, and he saw something in her he did not expect. This carnivore is an elder animal who wanders the earth all by himself and carries a massive power inside his soul.
"Are you alone? Do you need help to go somewhere? I'm sorry, but my mother doesn't allow pets," Lagertha said. The wolf can understand all the words which came out of her mouth; he also could speak, unlike any beast that roams the earth.
"I am never alone. I am not here to bring you harm," the wolf said.
"You... you're talking! I've never seen animal talk before!" Lagertha said.
"A mouth is good enough for speaking, Lagertha. I understand your words without the need to give me signs," he said.
"You know my name. Who are you? What are you?"
Lagertha had many questions in her mind and was very curious about everything from the old wolf. The beast was known by many to be someone who gives out signs to those who are born with a destiny. He will give them clues on what they must do to fulfill it as they live on. Everything he says to the people he comes across always comes at a high cost and with a hard choice. He was cursed to warn those people of the consequences they will face if they fail on their journey.
Then the wolf answered and spoke to her, saying, "My name is Rollo. I am a wolf who wanders the night and searches for those who will do great things. I was once a human... a living creature with much knowledge. But one day, a dark spell was cast on me and cursed me to become a carnivore. I can transform back into a human if you want some proof. Allow me to show you who I truly am."
Lagertha takes a few steps away from Rollo and stands behind her porch as she watches the wolf transform. The transformation was not painful at all, and he did not take an entire minute to show his true identity. A few seconds later, Rollo became a human through a large puff of smoke and had armor that she has never seen before. His armor was not even close to what Midland's knights wore; the armor was made entirely of metal and wolf bones. He wielded a sword that completely resembled the weapon that Lagertha drew herself, and her eyes were widely opened.
"It cannot be. If you truly are what they call you, then there must be a reason behind it. I don't even know why you're here or what purpose you have for being here," Lagertha said.
"I understand your confusion. I know all things, and I am here to provide them for you. I just need you to hear me out," Rollo said.
"Go ahead. I'm listening," she said. Lagertha gave the old man plenty of time to speak his mind and did not want him to rush his statements.
However, she wanted him to give her only specific details and not overstate his reasonings. Then, she slowly walked towards him to hear his words be given to her before she went back to bed.
Then Rollo said to her, "The day is coming when you have to choose your destiny. The day will come when you have to pick a side, be obliged to keep your promises and defend yourself against many dark forces. I have come to you because something has been revealed in you and I have heard it. You are the daughter of Julius of Romania and a special person in Loftain, the only city of Midland. One day, a path will be clear for you, and you walk that path no matter what it takes. You know that it shall come back for you, and it will continue doing it every single night."
"I'm trying to figure all of this out. I've never picked a path for myself, and I never knew what I wanted to do when I got older. I have been thinking about living with someone who knows as much about sketching and drawing as I do, but that's all I can think of," Lagertha said.
"You will know eventually. I am blinded by the power I hold inside of me. I cannot turn the power away from me, and I can't refuse such a gift I should give to whoever I meet," he said.
"It's as if I'm bound to know such a path. I know I cannot turn away from it, but I must know. If such a path is possible for me to travel, then it's a path I shouldn't worry about if I knew many things about it."
"Drain yourself of all your woes. The darkness of this world has arisen to a large degree. The day is soon coming when it shall cover all the earth, and on its foundation, a great and mighty kingdom shall be built. Like I said, the day will come when you will have to pick a side. And what you will do on that day will define you for the rest of your life. That day will be the day of atonement and a day of judgment upon the earth."
Then Rollo turns around to walk away from Lagertha and leave her to get some more rest. She needed to be sleeping like her parents were, but this conversation was keeping her from going to sleep. Lagertha walked towards Rollo and wanted to know one more thing from him before he leaves. He turns around and looks at her for a short while, as he saw that she was desperate.
"So, what about my family? What about the things awaiting me in the future?" Lagertha asked.
"That is only for you to figure out. I may know a lot of things, but I am not God. Do not forget the words I have spoken to you. It will prove quite useful for you when you get older," Rollo answered. And so, he walks away from her, and he goes into the shadows and wanders into the horizon.
