Dinner with the family.

"First Young Master, dinner is ready." A maid informed Wang Yong, keeping her flushed face to the ground. He was standing in front of her with nothing but a white towel wrapped around his waist.

"Okay, you may go." Wang Yong frowned when he saw the clothes that were delivered to him placed on the bed. None of them were to his taste but he was concerned about who brought them for him. He didn't want to offend his father if he had was the one who brought them and he refused to accept them.

Fan Qiuyue couldn't help but grumble when she sat down in the dining room with the rest of the family. "What is taking him so long to come down? I am sure that everyone here is hungry."

"Why do you exercise some patience, Qiuyue? He needs time to adjust and we are going to give him exactly that. Be more nicer to him." Liu Zhiqiang's flat voice displayed his increasing annoyance of his wife.

Fan Qiuyue knew him well and wisely kept quiet when she heard him speak. At that time, Wang Yong entered the dining room with a smile fixed in his face. "Good evening, everyone. What are we having for dinner?"

Bohai frowned when he saw the color of his brother's clothes but he restrained himself from saying anything because he was afraid he would be doing more harm than good in this situation if he pointed it out but Fan Qiuyue refused to overlook it. "Why are you still wearing that inauspicious colour in this house?!"

Wang Yong looked clueless as he touched his shirt. "What, you mean black?"

"Black is a colour forbidden in this house, go back and change it!" Fan Qiuyue felt happy when she saw that even her husband was a little annoyed so she became even more brazen. "You won't be eating dinner until you wear another outfit!"

Bohai saw that the mood had turned sour so he tried to explain things to his senior brother so that he won't feel bad. "Senior Brother, our parents dislike that colour because it reminds them of painful memories. If you like, I can lend you some of my clothes. You can just manage them until tomorrow so that we can go shopping!"

Wang Yong ignored the boy's bright eyes that was full of hope and turned to face his father with downcast eyes. "Oh, so that's the reason. I am sorry to ruin the cheerful mood but as you all know, I am still in mourning because of my grandmother's death so I can't wear any other colour than black. If you want, I can just eat in my room..."

"No need. I understand your reasons and I respect them. Your grandmother was a good person and she will happy to know that she raised such a filial person. Her efforts did not go to waste." Liu Zhiqiang stared at his wife as he talked before he patted a seat beside him. "Come and sit here."

Fan Qiuyue's face turned ugly when she heard his hidden criticism about her abilities of being a filial daughter and a dutiful wife. She clenched her fork because she realized that her husband who had lived with her for so long had always looked down on her and he seemed to express it more openly in the presence of their sons!

On the other hand, Bohai tried to suppress the surge of sadness and jealousy when he watched his adopted father and son converse with each other, ignoring him and his mother like they were part of the furniture. Therefore he attempted to change the subject of their conversation. "Senior Brother, I heard you are already in your final year. How is your preparations for the college exams coming along?"

Liu Zhiqiang frowned when he saw that his first son was now quite displeased so he turned to face Bohai. He was well aware of his second son's behavior so he knew that the boy meant no disrespect but was only trying to start an innocent conversation with his senior brother so he tried to help him instead. "That's true, Wang Yong. How is your preparations coming along now? I think its best we enroll you into a high tier school to help you prepare better."

Wang Yong's eyes narrowed when he heard his father's suggestion, his eyes darting to meet Bohai's own. Bohai quickly lowered his head and pretended to concentrate on his meal. He smiled. "I am doing well in my school so there is no need to change it so suddenly. I am worried it may affect my school grades."

"What do you mean? What harm can it do to your poor performance? I heard from your principal that you have always had the lowest scores in your class and you and your friends were always playing rogues in school. Even when you were little, you weren't bright either so I don't see why we should waste money in changing schools!" Fan Qiuyue snarled.

Wang Yong's eyes turned cold before he crouched his shoulders in a dejected stance, his lips quivering. "But it isn't my fault. Back then, if you didn't do all those things you did back then, I won't be like this now."

Fan Qiuyue hit the table with a panicked expression, pointing her finger at him. "How dare you? Shut up!"

Wang Yong gazed at his father, looking him with a bright expression that clearly showed how he was hiding his pain. "I feel so tired all of a sudden, my head hurts so I think I should retire early. Good night, Father."

Liu Zhiqiang became alert and worried when he observed him. "You still have those headaches, why didn't you tell me before? Tomorrow morning, I will take you to the hospital."

"Okay. " Liu Zhiqiang watched him trudge slowly with slouched shoulders as he went upstairs, out of view.

He grabbed his wife's hand when he saw that the poor boy had entered his room, exerting more force on his grip. "Qiuyue, follow me. We need to talk."

Qiuyue knew that she was in trouble so she tried to explain herself but she couldn't. "Zhiqiang, listen to me..."

Bohai watched his father drag his mother out of the room, ignoring he and his mother's subtle pleas. He felt worried when he saw them walk to the gardens outside under the bright night moon and stood up to follow them but he was hindered by the sudden appearance of Butler Fang.

Butler Fang stood in front of him with a stoic expression and said. "Second Young Master, it is impolite for you to eavesdrop on your father and mother's private conversation. Please leave."
