Nightfall

I stand in a ghost town. Or is it a ghost village? Whatever, that doesn't matter. The pont I'm trying to make is that I'm alone. Everyone left a few hours ago towards the nearest city to retrieve reinforcements. Nightfall is approaching, and I'm alone.

Well, it could be worse, I mean, what if I wasn't extremely powerful? I wouldn't be here if that was the case. Before everyone left, a few of the villagers left me some weapons. They were mostly shorts swords and knives, but the village chief left me a different weapon. A magic sword. He said that I can use my magic and put it into the sword. When that happens, the swords will use that magic, and depending on the strength of the magic I put in, the stronger the sword will be. However, it isn't limitless. As soon as the magic injected into the sword runs out, it will become the same as any other.

Not that I will need it, but it does sound cool. Maybe I will use it a little. Wow, I guess I wasted my time. The sun just set. I guess I should get ready for the goblins to strike.

Standing in utter silence, I have my senses set on high alert, listening for anything out of the ordinary.

WHAT'S THAT!? My map? There are red dots on it heading towards the village. Are those supposed to be the goblins? Yikes, that's a lot of red dots, and they're getting closer, too... It seems like some of them are coming from the forest right next to the village, but a few of them are diverging from the rest and flanking to the other side. If these guys weren't trying to kill me and ransack the village, I would be impressed with their strategy even though they are monsters.

"UWAGH!"

Ah, my first opponent in this new world.

My eyes instantly lock onto the goblin that entered the village grounds first. The goblin was fully green, as I had expected it to be, but it's body was also covered with lots of dried blood and sweat. It's face was unnatural looking, appearing almost as if a human face had been punched, twisted and turned, flipped inside out, and then slapped onto the goblin. To say the least, it was slightly disturbing to look at.

Its nose was twice as long as its longest finger, and it's teeth were bared like the fangs of a wolf. After only a brief moment of looking around, its eyes lock onto me. Then, a twisted smile appears on its grotesque green face.

I wonder how I should kill it? Should I burn it to death, pull the air out from it so it suffocates? Place water around its head so that it can't breath? Pull into the depths of the earth? The options seem limitless. Well, I kind of want to try my flame magic first. A simple flame should do, nothing as crazy as what I did earlier.

The image of a flame, like the one you would find on an average campfire, came to mind. I imagined it as especially greedy, quickly engulfing whatever it may touch. In only a brief moment, I had a flame on the palm of my hand.

Now then, a little wind magic to quickly carry the flame to the goblin should do the trick.

Quickly, I had a strong fist of wind blowing. Setting the flame onto the wind, I let it carry the flame all the way to the goblin.

The flame shot quickly towards the goblin, moving as fast as the wind that carried it. As the flame hit the goblin, the goblins entire body erupted to flames in almost an instant. A brief moment of silence passed before the pain hit the goblin. I could clearly see when the pain hit the goblin. Its eyes went from big and buggy, to tiny and skitterish.

The next moment, screams of unbelievable agony came from the goblins throat as it threw itself to the floor, shaking and thrashing around to try and put out the ferocious flame. Its voice quickly went hoarse as it screamed at the top of its lungs. Soon, the screaming slowly quieted until there was nothing. Just the cackling of the flame as it consumed the dead corpse.

As the flames devoured the body of the dead goblin, silence ensued. Nothing could be heard except for the slight breeze blowing through the village. My eyes dart to the map. Crap, the entire village is surrounded right now! It doesn't seem like any other goblins have entered it yet, so I might still have some time.

Oh my, how I was wrong. The moment the thought crossed my mind, the battle cry of over a hundred goblins could be heard, screaming as they charged. Okay, maybe I don't have as much time as I thought. I don't have time to think now, only to act.

Not sparing even a single moment, I sprint at top speed towards the nearest goblins, darting to the very edge of town in a mere instant. As I did so, I used earth magic to grab over three dozen small little rocks. Lifting them up with my wind magic, I approach the closest of the goblin hoard with my ammunition in tow.

I ran into the edge of the village that stood next to the forest, many rocks following behind me, as the goblins charge out at a much slower pace compared to me. Six had just exited the forest, but I could clearly see another two dozen following closely behind. Okay, now or never. Using wind magic, I shoot the small rocks at the speed of a bullet flying through the air, aiming them at the goblins ahead of me. My aim was exact, hitting each and every one in between the eyes.

Now, I need to deal with the rest on the other three sides of the village, but I can't let them do any damage, and they certainly will if I let them in. I need to stop them before they can. What should I do? What should I do?? What should I-

I have an idea!

Acting quickly, as the goblins on all sides of the village were closing in, I create a dense wall of air around the village. I make it more dense then the ground I stand on, wanting to be extra sure that nothing can get through. The end result? I run over to the on side of the village to find out. In my view, I see a delightful sight.

Goblins are pressed up against each other, trying to force there way through what is essentially a force field of air! Their faces look kind of funny when smudged up against my impenetrable wall of air.

I'm kind of surprised that worked, but glad none the less. Now I have much more time on my hands. Now then, how should I take care of these monsters?

"The village with the hoard of goblins is supposed to be just up ahead, right?"

A male in a large group of strong adventurers speaks up, wondering why their journey to the village is taking so long.

"Yes, now would you be quiet? You've been bothering everyone this whole time!"

Another man in the group spoke up, annoyed by the first man's annoying voice.

"Hey, there it is!"

A third man spoke up, excitement in his voice. This was their first large mission in a while, and he was excited to get to go crazy after such a long wait.

"Huh, why does it look like they are all dead?"

Now the entire group had their eyes on the town, peering closely to see what was going on. It was, in fact, true that all the goblins were dead. Some were burned to a crisp, other hand their feet sticking out of the ground.

"Damn, what happened here?"

As the group approached the town, a girl came out from the center to greet them.

"Hello, welcome to the village."

She didn't seem to be any older that fifteen, but her platinum blonde hair and deep purple eyes made her a real beauty.

"Uh, did you do all this? Kill all of the goblins on your own?"

"Yes, I did. The villagers begged me to try and protect their homes, so I did."

All of the adventurers mouths dropped. At first, they admired the girl, but that admiration quickly turned to fear. This girl wasn't an ordinary person.

She was a monster.
