Tactical Retreat

"You want to kill me?"

"Yes! Now accept your fate!"

The adventurer held his sword high, and quickly brought it down. Quickly for him anyways. For me, it was slower than a snail. As I watched the blade fall, by mind raced. Why exactly do these guys want to kill me? I mean, sure, I'm powerful and all, but I have no ill intention. All I want is a nice quiet and peaceful life. Do they really see me as a threat?

By now, the blade had gotten to be an inch from my face. I guess I should move now. Moving imperceivably fast, I move to the side, out of the swords range. It took a few moments for everyone around me to understand what exactly had just happened, and by then, I had already formed an escape plan.

If I run away too fast for them to see, they may try and burn down the houses looking for me, which means that running isn't an option. Instead, all I need to do is take care of them. Killing them would be unnecessary, but if I let them live, there is a chance they might come back looking for me. That leaves me with one option.

Run.

Or rather, make it seem like I'm running. All I have to do is slip out of their ring and run slowly into the forest. Once I shake them there, all I have to do is find another place to stay. After all, staying here any longer wouldn't be safe for the villagers or their property.

Okay, time to put this plan into action.

By now, everyone had noticed that I escaped the swing of the adventurers sword, and they all had their eyes on me again. The adventurer with the sword, angered by the fact that I had averted his swing, ran at full speed towards me.

Before he even had the chance to start another swing, I jumped backwards, up and over the ring of people behind me, careful not to jump to high. I slowly floated down to the ground as I used wind magic to break my fall. Great, now I'm outside the ring. All that's left is to run into the forest and lose them.

"Hey, I thought you only saw two types of magic, but she has three! Don't only one in a ten thousand people have three types of magic? How dangerous is she!?"

They thought I only have two types of magic? Well, I guess that makes sense considering they only saw two sides of the village where I experimented on the goblins.

Oh hey, they all turned to red dots on my map! I can't believe I overlooked that, but thinking back, it was like that when I woke up this morning as well. Knowing where they are at all times should make it easier to lose them in the forest. Now then, time to start running.

Quickly turning after making sure they all saw where I landed, I began to run towards the forest.

As soon as I started running, a loud rumbling started behind me. A brief glance at my map told me everything. All thirty eight men were charging after me. Good, everything is going smoothly. Now all they have to do is follow me for a while until I lose them. I think about ten or twenty minutes should do.

As I ran at a constant pace, neither speeding up not slowing down, my pursuers followed as well. Their footsteps were considerably loud. All the creatures nearby skittered away as we approached.

"Hey, we should use our magic! Maybe we can hit her!"

Are they dumb? Why would they tell that out loud? If it were me, I would have used hand signs, not that it matters though. As I thought quietly to myself, a fireball flew past me and hit a tree. The portion of the tree that was hit caught fire, but quickly went out. I guess he isn't that strong, huh.

Another moment and a wall growing from the ground sprang up in front of me. Reacting quickly, I jumped up and off of the side of a tree and manged to get over the wall. As I landed on the other side, I heard the wall crumble.

Next, I could sense water coming straight for my back. I quickly hopped to the side and watched it hit another tree, causing it to split where it was impacted and fall over.

Yikes! I imagine that would have hurt if it hit me.

Plants suddenly sprouted up and wrapped around my ankle, stopping me in my tracks. They know that I'm physically strong considering how they watched as I quickly avoided the strike from a sword and jumped over everyone while moving backwards, but I shouldn't give them anymore than that. I should just burn the plant with my magic instead of continuing on ahead and uprooting it with pure strength.

Quickly gathering fire around my ankle while also producing a small dense shield of air around my ankle so as not to hurt myself, I burned the plant to a crisp in an instant. These guys are seriously persistent, but twenty minutes just passed. Time to leave them in the dust. If I remember correctly, they saw how I had burned the goblins and how I buried them, and they also just saw how I used wind magic. That means I need to use one of those three to stop them from following me.

Well, I guess the obvious option is to make a wall from the ground right behind me. Quickly, an image appeared in my mind of a strong, dense wall made of the dirt that the ground was made of. Quickly, a wall formed just behind me. Shouting came from the other side, and as I ran, a quick glance at my map showed that they weren't following. Normally, they would have gone around the wall, which was what they were trying to do, but I made it a kilometer long, so good luck with that.

Now then, where should I go next?
