On the Move

Uh-oh, I might have made a mistake.

"Uhm, yes. Why?"

"T-t-that means you're a descendent of HIM!"

Uh, who? I'm not quite sure I'm following. What does he mean, him?

"I'm sorry, but would you mind expla-"

"Leave, NOW!"

Before I knew it, he had slammed the door in my face. Man, who is my ancestor and what did he do to make people hate me? Also, I just helped you, yet you threw me to the side? How rude.

Oh well, I guess I can't stay here anymore more. Better leave then. I then walked off into the distance as the sun set behind me. I looked pretty cool if I do say so myself, not that it matters.

Despite how cool I thought I looked, I felt pretty bad. I mean, I just wasted even more time trying to help people in pursuit of a quiet life, yet I keep getting chased off, which reminds me, I forgot to do something.

Just before I left the town, I messed with the air currents above me and created water and mixed it in. Soon, I formed dense rain clouds. They may not like me, but they will probably die if it doesn't rain soon, and besides, it was only the butler who expressed dislike for me. Everyone else was nice and helpful, for the most part. Most importantly, if I let them die when I could have done something, I would bring shame to my family, not that it matters in this world.

Now that that's finished, where should I head next? I could head for one of the other nearby towns, but that might not be a good idea considering how close I would be to the punks, who could possibly recognize me.

So, that means I need to find another town to try and stay in. Or maybe I should try and find a nice place to live on my own where I won't scare anyone? That could work to, but it would be hard finding a suitable location, so for now, I'm going to try and find another town.

Glancing at the map in the corner of my vision, I zoom out a considerable amount and look around l. Immediately to the right on my map are the two towns that I just eliminated. Below those is the village where I had first stopped. So then, if the right seems like a bad direction to head in, why not just go further west?

No, that wouldn't work. I mean, just look at the town I just walked out of. It had been in a drought for months, which means that anything further west than that is probably gone already. Maybe I could try heading up the map. Yes, I think that's it!

Okay then, now that I've decided which direction to go, all that's left to do is decide which town to choose. Looking at the map, I'm left with five possible choices. Three of them are close together while the other two are further apart. Considering that being more isolated also contributed to the mess with that nobles town, maybe I should just go to one of the three towns that are closely grouped together. Okay then, that narrows it down to three choices. Since I'm lazy, I'll just go with whichever one I arrive to first.

Well then, I guess I better start running. It should take me around four hours. Considering that the sun is only barely hanging in the sky after all the work I've done with those punks today, it seems like I will arrive in the middle of the night. That should work just fine.

With that, I started running. As I ran, the landscape slowly transformed from barren soil to lucsious fields of grass, to thin layers of snow. I guess the map is set with the cardinal directions in mind. North is cold, south is hot, east and west are in between. Seems simple enough.

I wonder if they use cardinal directions in this world? Wait, even more important than that, why don't I fell cold? I'm definitely not dressed for cold weather, yet I don't even have a slight shiver. That also reminds me about when I dropped that incredibly intense fire magic as a test run. Thinking back, I didn't feel any of that heat either.

Before I knew it, I had arrived to the nearest town, but I hadn't arrived at any answers to my questions. Oh well, I can always find an answer to them later. For now, I should try and find a place to sleep. Also, I should make a rule for myself.

Never use or reveal my magic power. If I use it and show how talented I am, I will probably just scare people. If I show people my magic power like with those crystals that Paul had, I'd probably scare them even more. So, no magic what-so-ever.

Now then, what should I do for the night. The sun set a while ago while I was running, and the time is 11:38, just twenty two minutes before midnight. Would anyone even give me a room this late? Maybe I came at a bad time.

"Hello there, young miss."

Just as I finished thinking, the voice of a finely dressed teenage boy with ruffled peach hair and a face full of freckles spoke up. He spoke with a light and innocent tone, almost as if he had no clue how miserable the world could be.

"Would you perhaps be looking for a place to sleep tonight?"
