Hero

It wasn't hard to find the thieves hideout. In fact, all of the missions that Gabriel gave me were pretty easy. It only took a little bit of searching and listening to find their base, which was, as I had guessed, in a district next to the high-class district.

Their base was a four floor office building that wasn't really an office building. The business was a front for their illegal activities. Gabriel told me to take care of them, so I guess I better get to it. Before I do, however, I should warn those nearby to leave the area.

Jumping down from the rooftop, I quickly began warning people. Because of my status as a hero in the city, people trust me when I say they need to leave. It only takes five minutes to clear everyone out of the immediate area. Now then, time to deal with these thieves.

I walked right through the front door, and when I did, everyone immediately knew their gig was up. I'm known for only showing up when I have a job to do, so when a bad guy see's me, they know why I'm there.

"Oh crap, it's the Secret Magician!"

As their situation sunk in, everyone prepared to leave. Just before they did, I had them all marked as a red dot on my map, so as not to lose them. Once I had done that, I quickly began to knock as many of them as I could out cold.

While I was moving, those furthest away began hopping out and through windows to try and make their escape. Since they're thrives that rob the high-class district, they would need to be fast and nimble to run and steal quickly. It's said that they always escape via rooftop, the main way I move around the city.

I managed to take out twenty of them before I had to chase after the remaining eighteen. It wasn't hard at all to catch up to them, as they were all slow, but it was more time consuming considering they had all split up and we're moving randomly to try and lose me. Thankfully, because I had them all marked on my map, I knew exactly where each and every one of them were. It was only a matter of tracking them down and rendering them unconscious.

It didn't take long for me to deal with all of them. Some of them had hopped off of the rooftops and ran through narrow streets and alleys, but I quickly found all of them. Once I had dealt with them all, I carried each and every one of them back to the office where their friends were waiting. After that, I brought over some guards and left the rest of the work to them.

There was plenty of evidence in the office building proving them guilty of their crimes. Necklaces made of pure gold, antiques more precious than they could imagine, and coins from homes that they robbed.

Now then, I should go report back to Gabriel and tell him I've finished.

With that, I quickly made my way back to Gabriel's mansion. From there, I informed one of his servants and they passed the message along to Gabriel as I went back to my house outside of the city.

As I walked through the front door, I was greeted by a friendly face. He's more or less my only friend in the city.

"Hey Estelle, how have you been?"

He still looks and sounds like a girl, despite being older than me. Riley sat in one of the chairs in front of the fireplace, probably sitting there while he had waited for me to come home.

"Hey Riley. If I had known you were coming, I wouldn't have spent my time working for Gabriel today."

I pulled my mask off and set it down on the table in the corner of the room. I then walked over to the spare chair in front of the fireplace and sat next to Riley.

"You know that wouldn't go over well. If you go against the contract, your name would be revealed along with this house that you've been living in. Besides, what you do is important. You shouldn't allow me to get in the way of it."

I lit a small fire with my magic in the fireplace while he spoke, wanting to keep it nice and warm inside. Riley didn't visit that often, but when he did, he told me about how things were going with him and Kelly.

I saw Kelly only one more time after the gang war, when I had just signed the contract with Gabriel. I tried to tell her that I wouldn't make the same mistake that I did during the gang war, and that I would save everyone that I could, but she told me to leave, saying that she never wanted to see me again.

"Hey, how have things been?"

"Well, I finally got promoted to head chef at the restaurant I've been working at!"

"What!? Well we should celebrate!"

"Why do you think I'm here?"

"Okay, what did you have in mind Riley?"

"Well you see..."

He then told me what he wanted to do to celebrate. Honestly, I think his proposal sounds like fun, I'm totally going to join him.

"Oh yeah I want to come! When are we leaving?"

"We're leaving right now. Go get changed first. I don't want anyone recognizing your outfit and causing a huge ruckus."

"Yeah, I know. Be back in a second."

It only took a few moments to get changed, and once I was, I came right back out.

"Okay then, let's go!"
