Pain

"What made you think you even had a chance to escape?"

My rage was immeasurable. It feels like I could burn this entire city to the ground and still not feel any better. I'm going to make him suffer for what he did.

"I don't know."

"Well, you're not. Now, I want you to tell me what exactly is happening in this city."

"Sure. It's not like it will matter anyways."

I glared at him, my eyes practically burning holes through his skull.

"Well, I guess it all started when I learned I had dark magic. Knowing that meant that I was a descendant of Diablo went to my head a little. I mean, that guy practically ruled the kingdom with his immense dark magic. He was the first person to ever have it, and he was the strongest because of it.

"Knowing I had the same power he did made me feel like a god. In fact, I am a god, just one that is weaker than you and your godly powers.

"Anyways, once I learned I had that power, I began to experiment with it. At first, I just wanted to test my limits, but my limits were practically limitless, as you would expect from a god.

"After learning how powerful I was, I didn't want to bother with actually living, instead just controlling other people's lives instead for amusement. Controlling people was so much fun! I determined everything that happened, and when something didn't go my way, I simply had to control someone and fix it.

"Obviously, my powers weren't strong enough to control the entire city, as I am only a small god compared to others that roam this earth, but I could control a large enough portion to make this city my personal play place. You and those children were simply a means to gain further control for my fun!"

He had the widest smile on his face with a dreamy look in his eyes. It's disgusting.

Before I even really thought about it, I had set him ablaze with an intense flame. The moment the flame had covered his body, his dreamy gaze disappeared, instead being replaced with one of pure agony.

I didn't kill him however, as he doesn't deserve such a mercy. I healed him before he even got close to dying, removing my flames at the same time. When I did, he dropped to his hands and knees, gasping for air with tears streaming down his pathetic face.

Again.

This time, I used earth magic and created many sharp projectiles. I lifted them up behind through wind magic, the shot them forward. They landed all over his body, impaling him and stabbing him in many different places.

It seems like he's scared. Tears are dripping from his face, yet he can't scream out in pain, as I had gotten his voice box with one of the rocks.

A small crowd was forming behind me, but I paid no attention to them, instead continuing with my torture. Unlike before, I let him get as close to death as possible before healing him with my magic.

Once I did, he was exhausted from the use of my magic and fell backwards onto the ground. Somehow, he didn't fall unconscious, instead just staring up at the roof from withing the building.

Lucky for me. I'm not done yet.

This time, I soaked his body with water from throughout the air, and then I set it to a boiling temperature as soon as it touched him. He was immediately brought from his state of drowsiness to full on suffering.

He clawed himself all over his body, trying to desperately remove the water from his skin, but I wouldn't let him. Instead, just before he went unconscious from the pain, I set the water in his blood to a boiling temperature, cooking him alive from both the inside and the outside.

He was dead before he even had a moment to scream, as his brain was fried in an instant.

What was left of him was a corpse covered in boils and looking horrendous because of it.

I didn't even bother wasting another moment on him, instead turning to continue following the direction of the cross northward in search of the site of the ancient curse.

As I turned to leave, the large crowd of people that had formed behind cleared a path for me out of fear that I may torture them to death next.

"Why did she kill him?"

"Wasn't that the Secret Magician?"

"No way, really? She's terrifying!"

I heard every single one of their quiet whispers amongst themselves, but I paid them no mind. In an instant, I was running at top speed, following the cross in the stars, despite not being able to see it because of the daylight. Thankfully, that shouldn't last much longer, as the sun will be setting soon. All I have to do is keep running.

Keep running.

Don't think about it.

You're only hurting yourself.

Stop!

STOP THINKING ABOUT THOSE CHILDREN!

I stopped running in the middle of a forest. I didn't even realize I was in the forest until I had brought myself to a stop.

Tears were streaming down my face beneath my white mask, dripping off from my chin and splattering onto the grass beneath my feet. I couldn't stop them. It felt like a gash that couldn't be healed.

"They were only kids!"

I screamed out into the empty forest. No one was here to watch me, to listen, to judge, or comfort me either.

I fell to my knees, finding it to hard to stand. From my knees, I fell to my side and curled into a ball, hugging my knees to my chest.

I kept on crying and screaming into the forest that wouldn't answer me until I passed out on the cold and itchy grass.
