I Am... Weak?
"Constantine!"
"Constantine!"
"Constantiiinnnee!" I let out a shout of frustration.
After I entered the portal we appeared in a small house that has two rooms and a kitchen. It's late in the night and the only thing that is going through my mind is the word:
'Revenge'
I didn't even want to explore my unsealed powers because my heart was brewing with anger.
Mom woke up and shouted dad's name then fell asleep immediately.
Ben was just at the corner of the parlour area crouching and I could hear sobs from time to time.
Constantine. I remember him. He was one of my dad's colleagues and is probably the person that told mom that dad didn't need to come to the Kings' meeting. That means they wanted to get him off-guard and that's why they ambushed him in the night when they feel he's asleep.
'Cowards. You all will pay. You will pay for making me go through this pain I'm feeling right now! I swear on my life.'
'Hey kiddo. You better stop thinking about stuff like that when you're this weak.' A strange male voice spoke in my head.
'I am... weak?'
'Very.' The strange male sounding voice replied with no remorse in his tone.
'Then how do I become strong?' I asked, not minding the identity of this strange male voice.
'Answering that calls for a price.'
'Which is?'
The voice became deeper as it answered,
'Your life.'
'Take whatever you want, but just tell me!' I told the voice in my head.
I said it with determination or maybe just desperation, I don't know. All I want to do right now is get rid of this self-pity and regret I feel. I couldn't do anything to save my dad and I only got to know a little about him through his journals. I let him die without knowing a thing about him. I was so caught up in trying to make him hate me like how I hated him for not being there to tell me his stories by himself.
'Oh! Hold your horses kid. I was just messing with you.' The voice said, increasing my anger by leaps and bounds.
"You think this is the time for jokes?!" I shouted out as if the strange voice was right in front of me.
Ben looked up to see who I was shouting at but had a confused expression when he didn't see anybody.
'What are you?' I asked the voice as calmly as I could.
'*sigh* Kids. I am Garmi, the Deathgod of Cursed magic; created by the greatest mage ever to walk the face of the Earth – Merlin.' He said it with so much pride emanating from his voice.
'Deathgod?, Cursed magic?, Merlin? Explain further.' I was perplexed, I have never heard such words before.
'You see, that's the thing. I've been watching you your entire life and that's why I know you're a smart-dumb kid.' Garmi said, like he was speaking matter-of-factly.
'I don't understand what you're talking about.'
'For example, what was the name of the city you were in?' Garmi asked a very funny question that looks like he's trying to mock me.
'Look I don't ha--'
'Just answer the question damn it.' he said, cutting me off.
'... L-London.' I answered.
'What an eyesore.' Garmi spoke with disappointment in his tone.
'Who is?' I asked angrily.
'Who else?' He also replied angrily.
'The world you think you know, isn't the one you've been living in but the one you read about in your dad's journals.' As it finished, I couldn't believe what he was saying but deep down I knew what he said was right.
'So, all the things I know aren't of this world?' I asked but didn't expect any answer since I already knew it.
In the books I read, there was little to no knowledge about magic, kings, and lords. That world was filled with extraordinary inventions and technology. I happened to stumble upon many of the inventions and their evolutions, making me wonder about my dad's age, which didn't seem so young; by the way, that's why I called him old skunk.
And as for this world, only a few of those inventions actually existed here.
Sometimes when I sleep, I find myself there, and I'm able to float and pass through things; making me ethereal.
'Before you start your onslaught of revenge you need to know everything about this world and your sealed powers.' The deep strange voice advised me.
'Okay. So where do I start?' I asked
'Ttri-ting'
And immediately heard the notification sound and looked at the new message.
[Quest : Seek knowledge]
[Requirements : LV.1 or higher]
[Description : Garmi the Death God wants you to know more about this world before getting stronger]
[Objective : Go to the town library]
[Time Limit : 24hrs]
[Rewards : Intelligence +2, EXP +20, increased fondness with Garmi]
[Failure : Loss of fondness with Garmi]
[Do you accept the quest? Y/N]
'Yes.'
I chose without thinking twice about it.
'After you've completed the quest: I'll tell you about your father and your secret origin.' Garmi added.
'...'
What don't I know about dad and myself? I wonder.
'Thank you. Garmi.' I decided to conclude with that.
'I'm just doing it because your father asked me to, and I owe him one.'
'Still, thank you.'
'...'
I stood up and checked up on mom before heading towards Ben with Zeus and Hades in my hands.
"Ben," He looked up to look at me. "I am going to avenge my father."
"Danny. Are you sure that's what he would've wanted?" Just with that sentence alone I noticed the change in, frankly, everything about Ben.
"No. That old skunk would've hit my head on the ground multiple times," I paused for a moment, trying to stop the tears from falling;
"It's what I want t--"
"No! You're so dumb and stupid thinking you can get revenge. Didn't you see those people? Get your head out of your pants Danny! Look at your mom, she's lying there not knowing her husband is dead, and her son is acting like a kid throwing a tantrum saying 'he'll get revenge'! When he can't even protect himself without his father."
I've never heard Ben speak this way to anyone before and that only means that he's trying to dissuade me as his own way of protecting me.
"I don't need your pitiful protection that comes from the responsibility of the fact that you think this is all your fault," Ben looked at me with eyes of disbelief.
"Ohh! You think I didn't know? Dad started staying at home more often after you came and let's not talk about your not-so-normal speed and strength."
"..."
"Ben. I'm going to go to General Magic High, the next two months is for me to prepare," I said without care of the facial expression he was making; I turned around and started walking back to where I was with Zeus and Hades,
"Make your decision before then." I ended our conversation with that.

I woke up early in the morning and saw mom still sleeping and Ben was where he was since last night.
'I think he slept in that crouching position by mistake.'
I went over to him and slowly straightened his body.
I went into the kitchen to see if I could prepare something for mom and Ben to eat.
Low and behold the kitchen was filled with enough food stuff to last us for a year.
At the corner, I saw two puppies munching some meat they found and to my amazement they've grown one-third as big as they were last night. I looked at them with keen interest and suddenly,

The time I named Zeus and Hades I didn't see their magic types but felt it, if that even makes sense.
I wonder why I can see more things about them than I could of Constantine.

"Dammit Ben! You startled me, and I'm as shocked as you are-"
