The men from the west and south part also found three to four children at each side, making all the rescued ones into nine, including the two others earlier.
"Did you really make sure to look at every part? Did you really rescued just them?" General Frost asked when he saw the kings face being pale.
"We double checked everything sire, and this is what we only found." One of the men explained.
"Very well, check again... You may have missed something." He ordered and the men was about to go, when the king stopped them.
"Don't make them find things that are not here anymore, general. They will only be tired for nothing." He said dissapointingly and went back to his horse. "Call everyone. We will head back to the palace, as soon as possible." He said and turned around, without even entering the town plaza. "If this is all we can find, then we bear with it. I don't want this children to suffer anymore by just seeing this abominable things." He said and went away, back to the Northern part's entrance.
A minute had already passed, when the army from the northern part, arrived with the others. They also have a young boy with them, looking more traumatized than the others. He looked alive physically but dead mentally, just by looking down without any reaction. His eyes shows nothing but fear and anger. He didn't talk, nor made a move. He just stand there while being held by one of the men. His eyes is what the king first noticed. It was really dead, not shining.
"Where did you found him?" The king asked and looked at him with familiarity.
"Inside one of the houses in the northern part, your highness. He was sorrounded by corpses, making him like this. We just saw him sitting in the middle while holding his legs and looking out of nowhere." The one being asked, answered.
"What is your name, young one?" The king asked, but got no answer from the lad. "Very well then, if everyone else is here, let us go back to the palace." He said and everyone started to ready themselves to leave. Others have got into their horses, while the others assisted the children to a long carriage.
"His name is Granger Sonata, sir." One of the children said. "His family is well-known because of their music." It explained.
"So that's why he seems very familiar." The king mentioned. "I am grieving for the death of your families to be honest... And i apologize if we came too late to save everyone except you all, this is so much of a lose. Even for your friends who passed away because of this horrible nightmare." He continued, and with the word friends... Granger somehow felt strange, making him back to his senses.
"Daisy?! Daisy! Where are you?" He called out of nowhere and looked around. He even stand up and tried to get out of the carriage to look for her, but he failed to spot her.
"Speaking of Daisy, did you not find her? Nor her sisters?" Someone from the group asked.
"Sorry to say this but, you are the only ones spotted out here alive at Northern Dawn." General Frost answered, making everyone cry.
"I can't believe she died." One of the girls said.
"She was so energetic and not-so-easy-to-be-beaten up type... So why is she dead?" Another asked unbelievably.
"She teached me how to live a life to the fullest, but why is she the one who gave up?!" The young boy earlier asked and sobbed.
Granger on the other hand, felt horrified, as he hear everyone's voices about his friend. He couldn't believe it, he couldn't believe everything. Not even the fact that she is dead. He held his head tightly and kneeled.
"You can't be dead... No... You really can't." He said and tried to keep his pace, but failed. "You promised me we'll play again, right?! So why did you accepted death?! You idiot!" He shouted as loud as he can. Making everyone look at him with sorrow. "You can't leave like this! You can't leave us like this! You can't leave me like this! You stupid little-" He stopped talking and just cried his heart out as his friends went down the carriage to support him. They all hugged together while crying in agony.
"You can let it all out. We're still here to support you." One of his bullies said, while crying silently.
"She will not be forgotten." One of the girls said.
A moment of silence as the children cried one last time. Grieving and mourning for there land's death. Sorrow filled the atmosphere as they look around the now ghost town.
"We have to go now, before the enemy comes back." The king said, and even if he is feeling heavy in his heart, he knew that it would be best to just leave. The children didn't contradict this. Instead, went back to the carriage silently as they held each others hand to support everyone.
As they were about to go, they took one last glance at the whole place and the other girls, just can't stop themselves from crying again, making some of the boys comfort them. Granger was on the right side, of the carriage. Sitting silently as he watch the carriage move slowly, away from the place.
'Please tell me this wasn't real... Please tell me it's just a joke... Please tell me that I am just having a nightmare. That all of this is just an act.'
He kept telling himself in his mind, making his tears starts to fall again. His chest was in pain because he is trying to keep himself strong, even if he can't anymore.
'Please tell me that your still alive.' He thought and closed his eyes to remember all the memories they have spent together with the others. He smiled at the thought, but at the same time. Hurted himself for doing so. He really can't move on. He still kept on thinking about her. He can't forget.
They all went passed the entrance of Northern Dawn and was ready to sped up, when...
"Here we stand open arms~
This is home where we are~
Ever strong in the world that we made~
I still hear you in the breeze~
See your shadows in the trees~
Holding on memories never change~"
To be continued~
A/N:
The title of the song at the last part is "Monody" by The Fat Rat, but instead of a happy tone, think of it as the saddest song you've ever heard. By the way, she is sobbing a bit while singing that part.
