The Sweepers generally deal with hunting traitors or potential traitors, dealing with hordes of low-level monsters located around the stronghold or dealing with high-level ones and Velena has been offered a job from the Sweepers.
The Mages supply the stronghold with the creation of scrolls, potions and various artifacts, they fortify the walls of the stronghold and even the weapons given to Guardians and the Army, they sustain and strengthen the additional layer of defense of the stronghold being a massive barrier that spherically defends the stronghold. Anything that it is related to magic you can go and ask anything and obviously Ira has been offered a job from them.
The Labourers instead consist in dealing with all the mundane tasks: from cleaning the streets to selling things from the other pillars, from teaching to the normal patrolling, from cooking to going to the field, and Edea went there.
The Army are people that oftentimes go to various dungeons to collect materials or escort the carriages that contain the goods needed to exchange with other stongholds. It is the most dangerous job with the highest death toll compared to the others but it is also the place where the most powerful people are found inside the stronghold and Theresa has been given a spot there.
The Guardians instead defend the walls and the perimeter around the stronghold, they make sure that the people the Supervisors let in are not dangerous, and with the Supervisors they guard and observe the streets of the stronghold and the prisoners. Era became one of them.
The Supervisors make sure that any task and activity are being correctly done or are fair, they make sure that the law are being followed, and register every person that it is associated with the stronghold. Unsurprisingly, Core joined them.
Lastly, there are the Explorers who are mainly tasked to regularly scout the surroundings of the stronghold, study the weaknessess and habits of the monsters and explore the lands far away from the stronghold that are filled with monsters. I have been given a place there.
"Hey newbie, you'll start immediately this afternoon so after you packed your things and have rested we'll send you out, understood?"
"Yes."
"Yes, what?"
"Yes, sir."
"Tch. Here." The man handed me a flower, to be more precise a blue iris.
"Huh? What's this?" I widened my eyes.
"Can't you see it?"
"Yeah, but..."
"It symbolizes faith and hope. Faith for the end of the suffering and hope for a better future, put it your pockets or inside your backpack but always carry it with you."
"Wow...but won't it wither?"
"Fool! It is not a real flower, it feels one and seems one but it is fundamentally something created by the Mages and it is not a genuine one! Do not die in you first day, good luck." The man turned and walked away leaving me with an artificial blue iris in my hands.
*crunch*
As petals were dispersed in the air, something was being dissipated along with it.
"Heh. Faith? Your pure and innocent emotions...these things are not worth of them but I really hope that you won't lose them to the very end."
What's this? The back of the man seems now to be too bright for my vile eyes, haaah such raw and pure honesty! People like you live short but shine the brightest or immediately wither and die slowly.
The symbol of faith and hope was crushed and sneered by the very being of Evil but the very next moment she was awed by the nature of the man that she met face to face. Watching the memories and interacting in real life have clearly their own flaws, in fact the Daeva already knew about the man not about his name or past those she has already forgotten them but the nature and emotions is what made her remember him.
While the Daeva enjoyed exploring all kind of sides that emotions can reveal, she does not hate seeing just brightest side in someone.
But.
The man might have gained the recognition of a being fundamentally higher than him but that was it. Similar to have seen a beautiful woman, one will not certainly try to win her heart but to just admire such beauty and see what happens next.
In fact, many have gained all kinds of recognition from the Daeva, many of whom were and are just common people and some of such common people were much purer than any saint, vile than a monster or more complex than others or just ordinary and mortals beings.
"Hehe. Heheheh. Such a cute one." Deva plopped in her bed, her long hair spreading across the surface of the bed and with many strands of hair landing in the floor. She giggled like a little girl, she gazed at the petals that she dispersed in air slowly landing in her hair and in the floor.
She played with the petals that once formed a beautiful flower and now are just few petals flying in the air on a whim of the Daeva.
Even when she crushed the symbol of faith and hope she still wanted to play with the remains of it.
And yet, the sight of a maiden that was seemingly having fun was both lovely and relaxing.
...
Even when the seven women were given each a seperate field to work in, the lady felt something inauspicious towards them and especially towards the raven-haired woman.
Her curiosity and gut feeling overwhelmed her so much that she ended up walking just in front of the dormitory of the Explorers and as she gazed at the dormitory her eyes started to glow.
"Ah."
And was greeted by a sight that almost took her heart and yet a voice in her mind seemed to pull her out from such trap.
-Dangerous.
-More than anything you've ever encountered.
-A disaster that brings disasters.
-Run. Run. Go away. Do not return here and go somewhere far away.
