Chapter 6

"Leo, could you show Niko to the nearest guest room?" The king asked his brother

Leo nodded and showed me out the door. I'm guessing they wanted to speak alone. Don't mind me. Just listening to their conversation.

My hearing is super sensitive, I can hear everything that goes on in this castle. I could make it go further but I will get a headache. Just listening a few rooms down is annoying.

KING'S POV

I sat down on the throne and said "So what's the real story about this 'A.I. Helper' as she called herself?"

Loki, who has always had the answer, answered "We are not quite sure about her other than what she has told us."

"That is concerning" I replied

Everyone agreed.

"What are we going to do about her?" The captain asked

Thor shrugged "What else? Keep her close"

I nodded. She has valuable information on the other side. We could use her help. She may be a mystery for now but hopefully she will come to open up more.

"So it's decided? We keep her close? What if she acts up? What if she wants to go against us? Or if she wants to go back?" The captain asked

I sighed. There are too many risks in taking her in. But there are also too many losses if we get rid of her. "The best choice of action would be to keep a close eye on her and take her down if she gives signs of aggression"

NIKO'S POV

I was standing in the corner of the room, listening in on the conversation. If they are willing to keep me, then I should take advantage and stay until I am not longer needed.

I stop listening and block out any noises.

As a robot, I would stand in the corner and wait for my master to charge my battery or wait for commands. Now that I am a human, standing for so long is no longer an option. I walk over to the bed and gently touch the sheets.

Soft. I can feel them. They are soft.

I gradually climb on top of the bed and lay down. This feels unnatural but comfortable at the same time. I have mixed feelings.

My eyes feel heavy and my mind goes blank. I guess this is what sleep is…

THE NEXT DAY

"Rise and shine!!!" Someone yelled as they drew the blinds open to rain hell upon me.

ARRG!! Who is waking me up so damn early?!?

I squinted my eyes against the sun to see a shadow leaning down on me. Ah! It's the boogeyman himself.

I pull the covers over my head and try to go back to sleep.

"Oh no you don't" the boogeyman said and pulled the covers back down "You need to wake up. It's time to meet the team"

The team? I lift myself into a sitting position and stretch my muscles. Ah! This is what people live for. How nice. And now…

"Nope!" The man said and pulled me from the bed before I could go back to sleep. Aww man…

Now that he was out of the sun, I could see that it was Thor who woke me up.

He guided me to a closet with multiple dresses and a few other outfits.

This is all…

"Pretty, right?" Thor asked

Ugly. Why is it all bright and frilly? Where are the jeans? Hoodies?

I shook my head and looked at his clothes. He wore a light shirt and pants made from cloth. I pointed towards his clothes.

"My clothes? Is this the type of stuff you usually wear?" He asked

I nodded

He hesitated before saying "I'm sorry, but I think you will need to wear this for now. Just so that we don't bring unwanted attention. Don't want anyone knowing you're from the other side, you know?"

I nodded. I understood. I didn't like it, but I understood.

After choosing the darkest and less frilly dress, I came out of the room. I saw Thor standing against the wall next to my room.

"You look nice and all but did you really have to pick a funeral getup?" He asked

*I've got an idea. How about we switch outfits? You can wear the uncomfortable dress and I can wear the comfy pants.* I told him

He looked surprised that I spoke. In his head but nonetheless. "Wow. She speaks"

Ugh. Am I going to be getting these comments often?
