First day

I woke up suddenly, glancing at the clock I realised it was six in the morning.

I got off my bed and packed my bag before heading to the shower. I showered long enough to get rid of my anxiety I was having.

I put on my bra followed by my panties, removing the bathing towel, I took the knee length navy blue dress which perfectly showed my curves.

I stood in front of my mirror staring at myself. The way my brunette hair falls on my shoulder, that it reminds me of Mom. The only lady I never hated in life. I scoffed at that thought.

~Ting, Tong!~

The door bell sounded as weird as my neighbour Aunty's voice which pulled me out from my daydream.

I reached the front door to find my Uncle Joe waiting with his car to take me to my university.

"Hey Lia, times up, you ready?" Uncle Joe approached me while waving at me.

"What's the hurry in sending your niece so far from yourself?" I smiled at him.

"No Blair, I'm not in a hurry to get rid of you, just want to see you settle down into your third University. After what happened in the last few years, this is the least I can do for you." He embraced me.

"Uncle you know I hate Blair, I'm Lia Carson. I don't want that fucking Blair getting into my mind again!" I whined while tears springed to my eyes.

"Listen, you can't run away from your past but—" I cut him off

"Alright, fine! I'm going to get my bags then we shall leave, make yourself at home." I ran to my room. How could he say so awfully like it never bothered him?

I closed my room's door and began to cry. I never thought that my first day of university would go like that. The past flashed in front of my eyes, the past which I never wanted to see again but it seemed to have vowed not to leave me.

When I got into his car, the weird silence was more than the word weird. But I kept my mouth shut.

After what felt like years he finally said "Lia, I'm sorry what happened there, I didn't mean to offend—" Offend, really ?

"I'm sorry too, but drop it. Just drop it uncle Joe. How long will it take to reach the university?" I changed the subject.

"Another half an hour!" He didn't look at me.

Again the weird silence began but I kept myself busy to think how this University will be. I'm afraid if I lose this University too, Uncle will lose the last hope that's left in his heart.

~Ring...Ring…~

"Lia, can you take my phone out and see who it is?" his phone was ringing, but he was driving the car.

"Sure." I struggled to take his phone out and it was my aunt's call, "Um….aunt is calling."

"Ignore the call, I'll call her later." He kept his eyes on the road.

So I did as I was told.

I knew the silence then extended for another half an hour. Neither of us had anything to speak, so I just watched the passing surroundings from the car window.

The tree leaves danced together in that spring season, the windy weather when the sun was about to set made me wonder how will this university be?

And with that thought, I drifted to sleep.

When I woke up from my nap, it was already dark outside.

"Lia, we are here now." Uncle got out of the car and pulled out my luggage bags.

While I unbuckled myself, and took a look at the whole University campus.

It looked a huge area from outside, there were numerous small windows, few of them had their room lights on.

It was peaceful all around, nothing like my previous University where people wandered around all night long.

"Here are all your bags, I hope I didn't miss any!" uncle Joe re-counted the bags.

I counted to see there were a total of three bags which I had packed, "No you didn't miss any."

"Good! Let's go inside." He smiled.

Heading inside to the Head department, I was given the key to dorm 605, which was on the 9th floor.

I took the elevator of course.

"I'll see you off from here I guess." Uncle said suddenly.

"Eh…. Why? You can come to my dorm." I suggested.

"No, I've got some work to do. So suit yourself and if you face problems, you know my number honey." Uncle Joe smirked at me.

"Alright, Thanks for everything." I moved into the elevator.

"Anytime. Bye Lia." He waved as he departed.
