Chapter 25

Inside the hospital, she is ripped from my arms by the shocked doctor and nurses. They take her straight to the back, my warriors holding me back from following them. Once she is out of sight, I scream out my pain, collapsing to my knees. I no longer can hold my head high. I let this happen. What kind of man am I, to allow her to be taken and so badly abused. As I let out my frustration on the hospital floor, I feel delicate arms wrap around my neck the best they can. I look up to find Dawn kneeling beside me, tears in her eyes, and a broken heart on her sleeve.

"She will be ok. We have to believe it. Besides, my mom is stubborn. She won't let this take her down."

As I stared in awe at the strong willed little girl in front of me, I couldn't help but feel blessed at having her come into my life. Both of them. I placed my arms around her shoulder and squeezed back, showing her my support as well.
