First Quest

Ezo, Hyoran, and I went downstairs and sees the quest board where it has countless of posters. It all ranges from taking care of a monster infestation, escorting a political figure, capturing a criminal, slaying a powerful monster such as a Dragon, Vampire, Lich, Elemental, or a Hellkin. Right now, we found a quest perfect for the three of us. By mean three, I'm including Gris.

"Horned Rabbits." I said. Horned Rabbits are J and I ranked right off the bat. Children like me and Hyoran can defeat it. However, we killed a Giant Slime that is a D+. However, they're quick and are a nuisance.

"Let's start with that." I said, taking the poster off.

"Once you take off the poster, take it to the receptionist and they'll stamp it saying you've accepted the quest." Ezo said. We took the poster to the receptionist and stamped it for approval.

"Alright, let's go get some rabbits!" Hyoran said.

We exited the guild and thankfully, the northern gate of Noltia is close by. We walk up to a couple guards that are lightly armored, wielding spears. They stand near the gate for multiple purposes where it is mainly keeping the kingdom safe. The tall guard looks down and spoke to us.

"State your business." one of the guards said. I pulled out a poster and our rank plates to the guard.

"Hmm...good. Good luck on your quest." the guard said and we continued on.

Hyoran put Gris down on the ground and began following us as we walked. The sun is still up so if we continue to the farm where the request is made.

"I see the farm ahead." Ezo said. Hyoran, Gris, and I went ahead. We ran towards the farm that is under attack by horned rabbits. An elderly man with a straw hat noticed us and called out.

"You there! Thank goodness you've arrived! The Horned Rabbits are eating my crops and I have little means to keep them out." said the elderly man.

"We'll do it!" I said with assurance that we'll beat it before nightfall. The three of us went to the farm to see multiple Horned Rabbits feasting on some vegetables.

"System, check its stats."

[Checking...complete.]

The White Horned Rabbits are one foot tall rabbits and obviously white fur. They have red beady eyes and two square teeth. They are herbivores, but will attack when threatened. That is where they use their horns. Their horns are 2 inches long and harder than stone and regrows if broken. They're fairly quick, but are weak.

Since they are J ranked, it's quick work for us even if there's over 20.

"Hyoran, Gris, let's start." I said. Hyoran pulls out her shortsword and began her battle. "Gris, ready to battle?"

Gris let out a cute howl since it is young, but he's definitely up for it. I take a look at one rabbit and pointed at it.

"You see it? Kill it." I commanded. Gris' eyes glowed and dashed towards the rabbit. The rabbit noticed it, but it was too late. Gris opened his mouth and gnashed the rabbit's neck.

*Crunch!*

The force of the bite snapped the rabbit's neck, killing it instantly.

[J rank target killed. 100 EP acquired.]

"What? But I didn't kill it, Gris did."

[The individual, Gris is bound by you, therefore you and Gris gain the benefits.]

"What about Hyoran?"

[She is not bound by you. The benefits do not apply.]

"Gris, use your Wind Magic." I said.

Gris growled and wind began to swirl in front of him, but this time, it's faster, larger, and denser. With a snarl, he fired the ball of wind at the 3 rabbits.

"Skreeeek!"

The rabbits screeched as the ball of wind struck them, killing them instantly.

[3 J rank targets killed. 300 EP acquired.]

With Gris at Rank E, J ranks are cakewalks. Gris is 5 ranks above them and is considered unfair. Hyoran on the other hand is cutting down 6 Horned Rabbits with ease with her shortsword. Her movements were somewhat clumsy, but she is not helpless. I see another Horned Rabbit and dove right at me with its horn.

*Stab!*

I simply stepped aside and plunged my dagger into its back, causing it to spit blood. It fell onto the ground and died shortly after.

[J rank target slain. 100 EP acquired.]

*Creak!*

*Crack!*

[Warning. Your body's performance is reduced due to constant stress of the potency of skills.]

"Dammit! Can I heal it?"

[It is not possible. You must rank up in order to alleviate the stress. However, you'll be vulnerable once you do since your growth is ahead of many people of your age.]

"Fine, I'll rank up once it's over."

Gris continues the advantage and begins to take down 5 more Horned Rabbits with its claws and teeth. Pretty cool for a young Gray Wolf.

[5 J rank targets slain. 500 EP acquired.]

Four Horned Rabbits remain and began to run away from the farm since us three were deemed a dangerous threat. To make sure no crops is under threat, we follow them to where they are hiding.

"Gris, follow them, but do not attack." I said, Gris went ahead to give chase for the rabbits while Hyoran and I follow Gris.

Ezo, who is watching is getting ready to move.

"Those two kids are something. Especially that wolf." The elderly man said.

"Yeah, they're gonna be strong someday. I hope your harvest goes well." Ezo said.

The elderly man tips his straw hat and Ezo went in our direction behind us. Us on the other hand followed Gris into a hill, but behind that is a small cave. In that small cave was a horde of Horned Rabbits. The four rabbits that retreated was but a fragment of tens if not hundreds of White Horned Rabbits.

"System, how many of them are in there?"

[Calculating...completed.]

[There are 150 White Horned Rabbits in this vicinity. 149 are Rank J. One is Rank H.]

"Check that H Rank."

[Checking...completed.]

"Just one skill? Well, I'm not gonna deal with all of them one by one." I thought to myself.

"Wow...that's so many." Hyoran said, intimidated by the sheer numbers. Even if we took 'em on head first, we'd be in trouble despite us being E rank. Thankfully, I got my Tier-III Wind Magic so I'll try to take out as many as I can.

"Hyoran, use your Water and Ice magic." I said.

"Okay!" Hyoran said and put her hands forth. She then conjured a ball of water with 7 inches in diameter.

"Surge forth. Waterball!" She chanted and the ball of water shot out of her palms. However, she did not stop there. "Freeze forth. Icebolt!"

An icicle shard shot out from her palms and the projectile followed the water ball. The water projectile struck the rabbits, drenching them and the icicle freezes them. I spread my arms wide and wind began to swirl rapidly. The magical wind surrounds my hands, condensing, swirling faster, stronger, growing bigger.

"SKREEEEE!!"

The Giant White Horned Rabbit screeched and began running towards us, leading an army of Horned Rabbits. Their combined footsteps are enough to be a stampede and scare kids away. If they reach the farm, all them veggies are toast and won't stop there since it will run right to the kingdom.

"Gris, charge your Wind Magic." I said.

Gris growled and a ball of wind came forth in front of his head. The ball of wind is now 6 inches in diameter where mine are 15 inches in diameter in each hand and the wind began to howl faintly. My Wind Magic kept growing bigger and stronger with each second until my hands began to bleed. The cuts forms on my fingers and my hands.

"K-Kain! Your hands!" Hyoran said in concern.

[Warning. Tier III Wind Magic instability detected on both hands. You are suffering backlash.]

"It's fine!" I said, with assurance. The horde is getting closer and my hands are getting covered with wounds. However, the horde is close enough.

"Now, Gris!" I commanded.

"Grrraw!"

Gris let out a growl and a snarl, launching a 9 inch ball of wind. Where I followed suit.

"SONIC...!" I yelled and the wind howled louder. The wind in my hands went in a circular motion, roaring, whirling, all the while cutting my hands and reaching my wrists.

"BOOM!!"

After I said those two words, I performed a move where I charge back and flick forward with the joystick. In game, it's a single, simple projectile. But here and now? It's a green cyclone whirling violently with the two disks I made. The Windball Gris made, merged with my magic, increasing it's already violent vortex further.

The Giant Rabbit that was leading the pack saw the projectile, skidded to a halt, and turned back. However, it was too late. The projectile caught the horde and rapidly dragged them back into the cave.

"SKREEEeeee...!!"

The rabbits scream and screech as they're dragged away by the Wind Magic until their screams gradually fades in the distance.

Gris' Tier I Windball and my two Tier III Cyclones combined, it could really hurt a rank B or an rank A monster. Also, the results are explosive.

*RUMBLE!* *CRACK!*

The ground began to rumble, assuming that my magic made impact. Hyoran, Gris and Ezo's ears and tails has perked up, sensing danger.

"Step away from the cave entrance." I said and I ran.

The three began running as well and the rumbling became strong and the wind began howling back out the entrance.

*BWOOOSH!!*

The wind exploded out of the entrance, causing a violent cyclone, tearing the grass and bushes apart, scattering them into the wind. However, the ground above the cave began breaking and erupted into another cyclone.

The cyclone in the cave broke out and reached the height of 50 feet tall and 20 feet wide, roaring, howling from the sheer power of the wind. A few moments later, the cyclone faded into a breeze.

[149 J rank targets slain. 14,900 EP acquired.]

[H rank target slain. 500 EP acquired.]

"Of course, it'll be strange if I didn't kill it instantly." I said so assuredly. Then Hyoran grabbed my hands that has multiple cuts.

"Kain! Your hands!" Hyoran said, panicking.

"It's fine, I have healing magic." I said. I let out a faint green glow on my hands and the deep cuts I had from the magic closed up and healed. No scars were left.

"Oh, right. You did heal me before." Hyoran sighed.

"That was some Wind Magic, Kain. I don't think any rabbits are walking out of this one." Ezo said.

*Whump!*

A horn drops down and lands on the land that has been razed by my Wind Magic and is bigger than the regular rabbits.

"Giant Rabbit Horn. We can use that as proof of our completion." Ezo said, picking it up. "Excellent work, kids. Let's get to the farmer and complete the quest."

We walked back to the farmer to show him the horn of a giant bunny. The farmer leaned closer.

"Hmm, this horn looks bigger than the regular ones." said the elderly man.

"Yeah, it's the one causing your crops to get eaten. A Giant White Horned Rabbit." I said.

"Well I'll be...that rodent was the cause." the elder laughed. He began to shake my hand in gratitude. "Thank you for saving my farm. I tried many things and they keep coming."

I looked at the dead rabbits in the farm and began to pick them up. Just so he has less things to do. Also, the guild will buy the materials from monsters we killed for extra profit. The other rabbits in the cave are destroyed to the point it is not salvageable. We exchange our goodbyes and went our way to the kingdom.

{Later...}

We entered the guild before sunset and brought our spoils of war and the paper from the quest.

"Welcome back, you're here to turn in?" said the receptionist.

"Yeah, here you go." I said, placing the poster and a horn of a Giant Rabbit and 16 rabbit corpses. She verifies the corpses and the large horn to be legitimate. In the game, I usually earn 3 copper for every corpse of a rabbit and 5 for their horns. 10 copper for the giant rabbit's horn. 8 times 16 is 128 copper, add 10 is 138.

"With this, your reward is 1 silver and 300 copper." the receptionist said, handing over the money.

1 silver and 300 copper!? How!? This must mean that the value of rabbits must be over quadruple the value of the in-game! That's real generous!

We took the spoils and went on our way to a hotel to stay the night. If we keep this up, we'll get to rise up.

{Later...}

Night falls in Noltia and the elf Guildmaster, Anna is wrapping up on the multiple reports she has received today, she stood up and stretched to relieve the stiffness in her body.

*Knock! Knock!*

Anna hears a knock on the wooden door as she is standing up.

"Come in." Anna said. The wooden door opens and a figure walks in. The figure has faded green hair reaching down the neck and is wearing a dark cloak reaching down to the knees. The figure closes the door.

"How did it go, Ria?" Anna said to the cloaked figure. The cloaked figure pulls back the hood to see that the figure also have elf ears like Anna and has purple eyes.

"This Kain person is talented with Wind Magic. He managed to defeat over a hundred rabbits including the giant one with one single magic spell equivalent to a Tier III or Tier IV. Additionally, he completed the quest within minutes. Most children complete it in around 2 hours." Ria said.

"Most children with magic can only go up to Tier II at best. He's most likely a prodigy." Anna said. "Thank you for the report."

Ria puts on the hood and walks out the door and closes it and Anna went to her room inside her office. She changes into a white night gown and lays on a large mattress.

"Things might be interesting for now on." Anna wondered and went to sleep.
