A couple days come by and a bird flies to Olken who sent the letter. Olken sees the bird and gestured it to come over. The bird drops the mail into Olken hands lands on his shoulder. The mail was wrapped in green ribbon with a shield crest with a tree in the middle, indicating the kingdom crest. Olken unravels the ribbon and opens the letter.
It is read as follows.
According to the recommendations you've sent us, we will set up the supplies for the individuals named Kain and Hyoran. Be sure to have either Ezo or Tuya to come along. Have them come to the guild at their earliest convenience. Also, the Gray Wolf named Gris must be have a collar.
-Anna The Guildmaster>
"Good, good." Olken said. He put the bird on the back of his hand and lets it fly away to Noltia. He gets up off his chair and began walking to Tuya who was out collecting laundry that was hanging outside.
"Morning Tuya." Olken called out to her.
"Oh, morning, Olken." Tuya said and sees a paper in his hand. "You got a letter?"
"Yes, I got it just recently. Are those kids up and about?" Olken said.
Which he is right. Hyoran and I are awake and had noticed that Olken is out talking to Tuya.
"Good Morning, Mr. Olken." I said.
"Morning, young lad. Are those clothes not too big?" Olken said.
By the clothes Olken gave me and Hyoran is common in Noltia. He gave me a white long sleeved buttoned shirt which its sleeves covers my palms. Next, my black pants also covers my ankles. He also gave me socks and shoes. I look like a common man in the medieval era.
"A little bit, but I'll grow in to it." I said.
Hyoran comes out of the hut to greet Olken.
"Mr. Olken is here? Morning, Mr. Olken." Hyoran said, waving.
"Morning, lassie. Does the clothes fit you? I made sure your tail moves around freely." Olken said. Hyoran is wearing a green short sleeve shirt and brown shorts that reaches to her knees.
"It fits fine." Hyoran said, giving herself a twirl. Gris also walks out and is slightly bigger than the time we took him in.
"Alright, Tuya. I better get going. I gotta show them the ropes." Ezo said. Ezo comes out in a blue sleeveless shirt and beige pants.
"Have fun and be safe, okay?" Tuya said. She then kisses Ezo on the lips and then kisses Hyoran and I on the forehead.
"We will!" Hyoran said happily. The four of us went to the carriage while Hyoran is carrying Gris. We hopped inside the carriage waved at Olken, Tuya, and other villagers. This is where my life truly begins.
We exited the land of the tall trees densely packed together to a land where there is luscious green grass all around, stretching beyond the horizon until there is mountains. Multiple animals like the Horned Rabbits, Colorless Slimes, Green Slimes, and Stingflies. All of them range from J to H. The time it takes from the forest to Noltia is about 6 hours on horseback according to the lore. If it's true, I'll have to sit back and wait.
Hours pass by and the sky turned slightly orange. It must be the afternoon since there is no way to tell time. Not right away that is.
"We're here folks. Welcome to the Kingdom of Noltia." The horse driver said.
Hyoran excitedly poked her head out of the window of the window to see a castle protected by tall white walls with the flags representing the crest of Noltia. I looked outside as well to see that it is the same as before in Grand Scale. These guards outside the gate are no less than level 75 so they're not complete pushovers. Their knights there are level 200 and the general is level 300. We rode the way to the gate of the castle to see the guards.
"This is so exciting, we can be like mama and papa!" Hyoran said, bouncing up and down.
"I'm sure you'll be strong like us." Ezo chuckled. He patted Hyoran's head.
We entered the Kingdom of Noltia where the amount of people is exponential. Our 1000 villagers was minuscule to a whopping 213 thousand people. Every single resident have a house made of bricks while we have huts out of straws and wood. People inside are humans, elves, beastkins, orcs, ogres, dwarves, goblins, and sometimes onis. Noltia is one of the most diverse kingdoms by having that many races living in there.
We continue on the brick roads to see a building saying "Noltia Adventure Guild." This guild in the game are where adventures get to once they reach level 10. Once they start the guild, they start as Wood and work from there.
We walk inside the guild to see numerous of adventurers. Some were around our age who is starting out and some were middle-aged who is in the guild for decades and slaying monsters who are no weaker than A rank.
If I remember correctly, Guildmaster named Anna Zailhouse who is an elf is also an Adventurer. A Pearl class at that. She can see people's stats and skills via Appraisal. She is also skilled in Wind and Light magic. That is why I shall get Falsify and Obscurity.
"System, I need Falsify and Obscurity."
[EP required is 4000. Proceed?]
"Yes."
[Acknowledged. Skills Falsify and Obscurity acquired.]
"Wow..." Hyoran said, breathless. Ezo brings us closer so that we don't get dragged into a troublesome situation where a petty adventurer exaggerates a accidental collision. We reached to the desk where the receptionist is currently standing behind. She sees Ezo and remembers him.
"Good evening, Mr. Ezo." she said professionally.
"Good evening, Olivia, I am here to register these two children into the guild. They asked me that they wanted to join so, here I am." Ezo explained briefly.
"May I know your names?" Olivia said.
"Hyoran. I am a Beastkin." Hyoran replied. Olivia wrote Hyoran's name down and her race and turns to me.
"Name?" She said.
"Kain. I'm a Human." I replied. She also began writing my profile. She then stamped the papers and gave them to Ezo.
"The guild master is above those stairs." Olivia said.
Ezo, Hyoran, and I walked to the wooden stairs and see the two large doors with a golden plate above saying 'Guildmaster'. Ezo knocked on the door for an answer.
"Come on in." said the voice of a woman. We all entered the room to see a beautiful female elf. Her emerald eyes, her long silvery hair with a blue feather along with sapphire gems, and her long ears. She wears a green long sleeve shirt, a white vest with golden vines and leaves designed on it, tight pants with two-tone color of green and white, and brown dress shoes with gemstones of ruby and sapphire.
"Welcome to the Noltia Adventure Guild. I am Anna Zailhouse, the Guildmaster." Anna said as she walks to the large leather chair and sat down. "So, I got the letter from Olken saying that you two slayed a Giant Colorless slime that is a Rank D monster. Which is amazing. Two kids and a young Gray Wolf killed where it takes a Stone class adventurer to kill it."
"It was out of nowhere and it could attack the village." I said. Hyoran nodded.
"Understandable. However, as for policy, adventurers between 10-13 are to start at Soil Rank. It is to avoid numerous complications." Anna said.
I see no problem, it's better to reduce children becoming afternoon snacks by being way over their heads.
"System, check her stats."
*Bzzt! Bzzt!*
[Appraisal failed. Appraisal has been blocked.]
"Damn. She got the Obscurity skill."
[Bypassing Obscurity skill...complete.]
"What?"
"Um, how? She's leagues ahead of me and has Obscurity."
[Appraisal was successful via bypassing is because of--]*BZZT* [An unknown anomaly detected.]
With just like that, the screen quickly faded away.
"What? Oh, right. It is because of...because of..." I trailed off. Those question marks beside my human race must mean something else, but when I tried to remember, it was gone. Like it never happened. The voice that Anna speaks was muffled as I speak to the system and then became clearer.
"Kain, Hyoran. Here are you adventure plates as you are now part of the guild." Anna said, giving us our very own rank plates. We put it around our necks with the plate that looks like the dirt of the earth. Soil rank.
"Thank you, Ms. Anna. Where should we get our quests?" I asked.
"I'll help you find them. Thank you for your assistance, Anna." Ezo said. We stood up and turned around to leave Anna's office, until a message came into my head.
[Attention. Appraisal detected.]
"Oh crap, she's gonna see all those crazy skills including the question marks."
[Appraisal has been blocked due to your--*BZZT*]
"It happened again. What's happening? I'll worry about it later."
The three of us went past the door and closed it behind us.
Anna laid back and let out a deep sigh as if she had a long day of work. However, it wasn't that.
"Not only my Obscurity was bypassed, but my Appraisal was blocked as well. That Kain person...just what bloodline did he come from?" Anna wondered. Anna stood up and walked to the window behind her to see numerous adventures striking at the wooden dummies in the training yard. "This is the first time my Appraisal and Obscurity failed. I should check on him."
