{This chapter will be in Ezo's and Tuya's point of view.}
{Ezo's POV.}
Ah, there they go, out to Nolten Forest. I know Hyoran and Kain will be sad, but Tuya and I promised to get back in one piece. Before they left, Kain gave us a rank up. I was stuck at A+ when they were 8 years old. Tuya was at S+. I was certain that our growth will slow down as Beastkins, but I'm stuck at A for 2 years. I should be at S or higher.
But now, Kain broke us through that plateau that we were was stuck at in an instant. Not only that, Hyoran was at Rank B according to Kain.
I also saw Kain throughout his fights is that he already knows what to do with various monsters, especially with bigger ones. The Hobgoblin he fought, he fought like he had years of experience under his belt exceeding his life here. The way he commanded Gris and the three others are also amazing. He's not only a born warrior, but a born leader.
Then again, his parents must be very talented for him to inherit these skills. It's a shame they're not here to see him grow. But no worries, Tuya and I have been making sure he's part of our family and Hyoran barely had any moments of being lonely.
Throughout my life, I've seen monsters evolve naturally in person, although it was few, but Kain did that to a Cave Spider named Paura, Gris who is a Gray Wolf to a Silver Wolf, another Gray Wolf named Noire to a Black Wolf, and a Dim Owl to a Shade Owl named Schwarze. Kain had a peculiar naming sense, but he evolved them multiple times in no time at all! Monsters in general take months if not years to evolve once!
Him taming multiple monsters reminded me of Clive who is a Beast Tamer and a powerful one at that. The reason I told him about Clive is because of that man was betrayed despite him not having too much attachment of said kingdom.
Again, his skill called Evolutionist? That's a skill I never heard about...ever. It allows him to evolve monsters with magic? But...I don't think it works like that with just magic. Also, he can make them stronger as well!
Even Hyoran included. She is now rank B and at this point, she'll exceed me at this rate and Tuya as well...despite our ranks jumping up one by Kain.
{Tuya's POV}
10 years ago, I was out of the village to gather food for the family and for our beautiful newborn daughter, Hyoran. It was a typical morning until I heard a baby's cry. I was certain that Hyoran is still inside the hut with Ezo, but my heart aches. I ran towards the cry and saw adult Gray Wolves fighting for who gets to eat the baby. That's something I can never allow, not while I'm here.
I quickly dispatched the wolves and checked the baby to see that he has jet black hair and dark skin. His eye color is also black with a hint of brown. He also had a name, Kain Void in his cloth. Since his ears are on his sides, not on his head, he is not a Beastkin. Regardless, it is a beautiful baby and should be in the care with his parents.
Yet, I cannot sense his parents anywhere. I don't even sense their smell. It's as if he appeared from thin air. But I can't leave him here alone. I took him in as a result. When Ezo came back, I was surprised that he came back earlier than expected. But when he noticed Kain, he was wary of my decision since we tried to have more children for months, but no success. In the end, we came to a decision to make Kain as our son.
When I compared Kain and Hyoran, they're not too far apart age wise. My only concern is that will Hyoran accept Kain as her new brother. It turned out that she did. During our times trying to have more children while they're young, I never got pregnant again. I'd be lying if I said it wasn't demoralizing.
In the end, we decided to focus on our current children.
As they grow older, they got along great. It's as if they were inseparable as siblings. It's so cute and it warms my heart watching them play together.
One time, Hyoran and Kain took home an injured Gray Wolf. To be honest, it scared me as I remembered those three wolves tried to eat him. It even scared me more if I was even a moment late or didn't hear his cry. What they took in was a pup of a Gray Wolf who lost its parents according to my daughter. Ezo and I reluctantly accepted the pup and I began nursing it back to health.
One time I see Kain and his new pet, Gris, he fired Wind Magic. And then he fired Earth Magic. It made my tail spike to be honest, firing magic at such an young age and without chanting? He's talented, no a genius.
When Hyoran saw it, she ran to me saying if she had magic. And of course she does and have Ezo's Water Magic and my Ice Magic.
However, despite those good memories, when I see Kain's smile, it was as if he was forcing himself, smiling through the pain almost. I wanted to talk to him to see what's bothering him, but he tells me that he's fine and smiles at me.
I don't know why I feel that he's forcing himself, but my instincts as a Beastkin and as a mother is telling me that his parents must've been less than ideal or have this some form of loneliness that exceeds his age.
But what confuses me is that he had no scent regarding his parents and yet he had something in him for a long time.
I should've told him before Ezo took the children to the guild in Noltia. And yet...I don't know how to approach him on that matter. I don't want to confuse Ezo and Hyoran or have them view me in a bad light by overwhelming him with questions that he doesn't know about. But I just can't let this go unanswered.
When I heard a Fire Dragon is heading to Noltia where Kain, Hyoran, and Ezo resides, my heart sank. I ran to Olken to teleport me there since I am a concerned mother and wife, fearing for their safety.
When I came to Noltia, I ran immediately to the guild and saw Ezo, Hyoran, Kain, and a Silver Wolf. Is it Gris? But Gris is a Gray Wolf, isn't he? No matter, I must send the kids back!
Usually, in case of a invading monster or monsters of great number or rank, they're usually sent to the shelters to avoid collateral damage or environmental hazards. But Dragons are a special case, we have shelters to ward off Dragons and Dragonoids. However, it doesn't guarantee their safety. It's not like I doubt their shelters, but the amount of space is limited.
Once we seen our children off, we began to prepare ourselves. Back then, we struggled against a Child Dragon with the two of us. Now that there's a Adolescent Dragon, fighting with two people is suicidal.
Even with the added allies, we'd expect casualties. Now that Kain raised my rank to V and Ezo's rank where I remember it was A, he is probably in S rank.
Don't Worry, Kain, Hyoran. We will return to you alive. I promise.
