Chapter 4

As I enter, I lean against the door, letting out a long sigh of relief. My head spins a little, it must be because of the longness or the tiredness of the hangover. I hear pans banging and I walk to the kitchen and find Molly cooking.

—You came — Speak when you notice my presence in the kitchen — I'm making tea, do you want it?

—I want.

I speak by sitting on the kitchen chair, I lean my head on my hand and let out an uncomfortable moan.

—You look terrible.

—I look terrible.

I try to compose myself, I face the same thing that I put sugar in the cups that I took from the cupboard, then the bags with crushed herbs inside.

—Go to bed and get some rest, I need you brand new to do some shopping later.

—I had forgotten.

I speak by remembering that I haven't seen Molly in almost a day and a half, after she went to Phil's house, she only arrived the other day in the afternoon. And the last thing I remember from last night is going straight from work to the club. I can't believe how irresponsible I was, I didn't even leave food for Molly.

—Did you stay here without food?

I ask the one who shakes her head in denial.

—Marta came here to talk to you about Jim's birthday party, and she brought us some delicious things to taste for the party.

—Remind me to thank her later.

—No need, I already did it for you.

He speaks by pouring the hot water into the cup, and then giving it to me.

—Thanks.

I thank and take a sip of the hot drink, with the sweet aroma.

—Where did you get that dress?

His voice sounds curious, I feel my body stiffen with such a question. And a little affliction settles inside me.

—A friend from work lent me because mine got dirty.

—And did you spend the night at her house?

Asks taking a sip of his tea.

—Yea! She was not doing very well, she drank too much and had no one to take care of her.

I speak a little too quickly, but that seems to convince Molly. For she asks but no questions.

—I'm going to lie down for a while, then you wake me up to go to the market.

—OK.

He talks about drinking a little more of his tea, while reading the book he left open on the table. Upon entering my room I throw myself on the bed, my eyelids think and I instantly fall asleep.

—Belinda, wake up.

I hear Molly's voice calling my name, I feel it rock me in a way to wake me up faster. I move my head the other way and sigh.

—Just five more minutes, Molly.

—Bel has men in the room wanting to talk to you.

Her voice sounds irritated, I move my head towards her and open my eyes to look at her. Her expression is serious, I feel a little shiver through my body at the thought that I may be that man. I quickly become alert and sit on the bed.

—What men?

—I don't know, but they are well dressed — They are wearing a suit and everything but.

Now I am quite sure that it is him, I swallow my saliva with difficulty. I must have gone pale because Molly has a concerned look on her face.

—Bel something happened, who are these men?

—Didn't they say anything?

I ask the same ignoring her question.

—No. Why should I know anything?

—No. Look, get down there and offer them something, I'm just going to change clothes and I'll be right down.

—Okay, I hope they like water."

He talks about leaving the room and locking the door right after, I get up and go to the bathroom. I look at my tired and asleep appearance, the marks on the sheet are present on my face, giving an impression of wrinkles. I brush my teeth and wash my face, go back to the bedroom and take off the luxurious dress and leave it on the bed. It may be that they came here to take the dress, after all who would be able to give someone such an expensive dress. I take the opportunity and take off my lingerie, go to the closet and wear a pair of panties. I pick up a slightly worn and worn sweatpants, along with a sleeve blouse. In a hurry I don't wear the bra. I take a plastic bag from the drawer and put the dress inside, along with the sneaker and underwear. I wish I had washed it before delivering it. I open the bedroom door and go down the stairs, with each step I go down the distress inside me grows bigger and bigger. When I look at the sofa, I find the cause of all my distress, he is sitting with his hands together on his legs. His gaze is focused on the floor, he wears a perfect gray suit. He is accompanying two more men, who also wear a suit. The one sitting next to you has blond hair and an athletic build. The other, on the other hand, has black hair and appears to be a little younger than the others, I notice that he looks at Molly sitting on the kitchen chair she brought to the room, when she notices my presence, she stands up. The others do the same thing.

—Good evening, Miss Foggs.

—Goodnight.

I lengthen that man, just for education. I look at the clock in the living room and am amazed to know that I slept so much. I walk over to the man who is sitting in the middle of the other two, and I hold out the plastic bag towards him.

—You probably came to get this.

My voice comes out harsh for him, which does not change his serious expression.

—If you're talking about the clothes I gave you, you can stay — She is yours.

I nod and sit on the other small sofa on the other side of the room, facing both of them.

—Actually, Miss Foggs, we're here to talk about last night.

A great discomfort settles in my stomach, I thought we had resolved everything this morning. But I was apparently wrong, for a moment I thought I could ignore what happened, but apparently not. I don't want Molly to be here to hear this, I feel that if she knows what she did she will think that she can do the same thing with Phil. I don't want her to have that image about me, and maybe she doesn't think. I know that he is a mature girl for his age. But I don't want to take any risks, I don't want this problem to spread.

—Molly.

I speak her name in a warning tone, she snorts irritably and walks towards the stairs. I notice that the young boy follows her with his gaze on each step that she climbs, I am very sorry, but Molly is not going to get in the same trouble as I am. When I don't hear but Molly's footsteps I speak.

—And what else do we have to talk about that night?

I ask, crossing my arms as they both stare at me.

—We are here to represent the affairs of Lord John Nahant.

The man with the blond hair speaks. Nahant, so this is his surname, different but with a certain sensuality.

—And what are those subjects?

I ask bluntly, I want to know what this man wants so much to get rid of him right away.

—Well, the night before, you and Mr. Nahat had intimate relationships, right?

I don't answer, because even if I said yes or no. It wouldn't make a difference since I don't remember anything. It does a throat scratch and continues.

—Do you remember anything that happened last night?

-No.

I speak with some embarrassment.

—Nor does Mr. Nahant, which means he doesn't know if they used protection or not.

His words call my attention, I look at that Nahant and his look is serious about me. He studies me from top to bottom, I turn my gaze to the blond-haired man. But the speaker this time is the other black-haired man.

—Mr. Nahant would like you to have tests, for pregnancy and illness, of course — He has already done the tests for diseases, the results are here if you want to see.

She speaks naturally as if this were something common, my body stiffens and I feel my hands ringing in thinking that I may be pregnant. Pregnant by someone I don't even know. I can't say anything or even think about anything.

—You don't have to be nervous, I just want to make sure you're not pregnant.

I look at the same disbelief, how he can act so calmly and coolly at a time like this. The blond-haired man opens a brown leather briefcase, and holds out a folder with papers inside.

—These are Lord Nahant's exams.

I pick up the folder and open it, starting to leaf through it. Everything on the exams indicates that he is in excellent health, without any illness.

—So are you going to do the exams too?

Asks the black-haired man.

—Why not, since he did it, I'll do it too.

And justly, I can't refuse to do that. And yet, knowing that it is possible, there is a possibility that I am pregnant. I hand the transparent briefcase over to him and get up from the couch.

—I'm going to leave my number with you, so we can pass on the clinic's address and the day.

The man with the black hair speaks, handing me a small card, where he has his number and his name. Nick Blogger.

—Okay, Nick.

I follow them to the door and open it, the black-haired man smiles at me sympathetically when he leaves. soon after the blond-haired man, unlike Nick, he has a serious expression. Soon after that Nahant. He stops in front of me and looks at me for a few moments, I feel my heart jump in his face so closely.

—See you soon, Miss Foggs.

—See you soon, Mr. Nahant.

I say goodbye to him and close the door when he leaves, my heart beats wildly and my body trembles. But a word comes to my mind causing my body to retract. Pregnant!
