Chapter 3: Neighbor

A good relaxing week! Without some grown dude ending me messages to get back on programming tech and making it for him in his corp...WELP! He's off to the streets anyway. Back to not leaving my house a lot. I don't mind anyway..it's already a part of my nature to always stay inside, do my codes, and watch some good ol' anime.

My day starts as normal as I would expect it to be but something felt quite off like something's just about to happen that might POSSIBLY change my life. Probably... Eh, whatever! As I got cleaned off, dressed, and sipping on my morning ramen, I then got to work on practicing more codes to see how fluid I can code them under a time limit. It was fun. After I did so, I laid back and took a break watching my favorite classic anime munching on some pocky. 21st-century snacks still have that flare on the taste buds! I'm glad they still make these! Good marketing move if I do say so myself. Marketing...I've always hated that word.

"Hey!" A voice faintly called out. It sounded like it came from downstairs. Front door maybe?

I sighed and used my powers to see who it was. They had a familiar aura...Amari. I groaned and patted my face, "What now." I said to myself getting up and making my way to the door.

"Open up!" Amari said outside my door.

"Wait!" I replied back.

As I opened my door, she had a bag on her back, arms crossed, and a glare piercing my eyes with daggers. I then raised my brow staring back at her.

"What's this? Girlscout cookies?" I asked her with my eyes pointed to her own.

Amari rolled her eyes, "I just came to thank you for making me lose my job and now you owe me a new one." She said to me.

I looked rather cold at her statement and in disbelief, "First off, my little conference with your old boss had nothing to do with you and it's his OWN fault that you lost your bodyguard job, missy." I barked back.

"Yeah yeah! Well, I at least need a new job. If you have any ideas..." She grinned and began to walk backward, "I'm just next door!" She glared rather sheepishly as if she was teasing me that one of the annoying people in my life is living a few steps away.

I scoffed and waved, "Yeah sure. Enjoy!" I said with a hint of salt in my voice. The next days after she settles in her new home...close to mine...might bring me hell but whatever. I'm used to weird neighbors I guess.

The whole, Amari has been annoying me a lot. Waking me up before my alarm, cutting my wires, and even stealing my ramen packs from my front door after they're delivered. If I'm up, I would have a hell of a lot of trouble trying to sleep again. She's slowly starting to get on my nerves but I'll just let her tire herself out for now. If ever she keeps these weak pranks up, I might just fire right back at her. After I had my power manually cut off again, I looked at the black computer screen I was using to finish up the last bit of my programming, I thought it'd be the perfect time for sweet sweet revenge. I've had enough of my progress being hindered by some salty chick. BUT ALAS. The good person in me didn't want to bite back. I just shook it off and decided that it would be the perfect moment to upgrade my systems instead and for better protection of my wires.

I spent a good day designing a better trap system and building up the front door. My main wires are in the basement but she somehow saw the other wires peeping through outside that is directly connected to the back generators.

'Good job installing the CLEARLY EXPOSED generator and wirings outside, former owner.' I whined to myself in my head. Dude's got his brain stuck on a banana perhaps.

After noticing the clear way for her to reach the outside wires, I went out of my way to cover them and reroute the wires myself as I moved the generator directly to the basement. After that little counter I pulled off, miss prankster Amari stopped on the pranks for a few days.

-a week without the pranks passed-

I was working on some projects I took with a client on a new tech arm for them since their old one broke down then I noticed...It's horribly silent. Amari hasn't attempted a single petty prank. Well, my ramen boxes still go missing at least. Whenever I use my radar powers to view the house every 7 am that my ramen boxes arrive, I always see this particular aura yoinking them from my house. It was Amari. Of course Amari. I doubt she even likes the flavors I get and they're just stacks in her house somewhere and looks at them in 'victory'. Eh. She can have them if she wants them boxes. I really should start eating real foods anyway.

"Maybe I should go up to the surface city to grab some veggies and meat so I can eat something else." I thought to myself and nodded at my little errant idea.
