Chapter 29: El Centro, California

Devin hated long distance traveling. He hated road trips in general. Even the alternatives drove him crazy. At least then he had a movie to watch or a game to play. Laying across the seat, staring at the ceiling of a car was quite literally going to make him go insane.

It had only been an hour and a half since they started driving. Willis said he would stop at the next town, but Devin didn’t know when that would be. He glared at Tucker, who sat in the front seat looking out the window. The teen didn’t seem bothered. His fingers tapped against the side of his leg.

Devin envied his ability to control himself, “so do you guys travel a lot?”

“Never actually,” Tucker commented looking back at him.

Seriously? “You both could have fooled me.”

After glancing in the rearview mirror, Willis sighed, “you could both catch some more sleep.”

“I’m good,” Devin sat up, “any idea when this next town will come along?”

“If I knew I would’ve told you.”
