Chapter 30: San Diego, California

It was dark long before they reached San Diego. The only way they could tell were the signs pointing them in the right direction. They stayed near the outskirts of the city. It had been decided that the city would be a hotspot for people and therefore too big of a risk.

Clint wanted to see the ocean and made his opinion known every few minutes. It didn’t annoy Dallas nearly as much as it annoyed Landon, although he was doing well to control it. He had been trying to sleep for the last few hours. Every time he started something would wake him. The sun in his eyes, an itch, a voice. He didn’t have the energy to be upset, but he had this insistent want to shush Clint.

All three radios came to life, “let’s find a house to camp in away from downtown. I want to avoid people,” Willis's garbled voice came through, “we can head out in the morning for the next station.”

Clint picked up his radio, “look for places with open house signs, or new developments.”
