Chapter 61: Sacramento District

The pain was gone. Dallas cried in relief though his heart still raced in his chest. He opened his eyes to tan, rocky ground with blue skies above. Without a say, he found himself on his feet staring out over a sea of clouds. The ground he stood on was the only land he could see, a floating island.

Carelessly he walked to the cliff's edge, kneeling to reach out and touch the white fluff. It was easier than he thought, the clouds came to him, brushing against his hand. His heart finally calmed, and he could breathe. The clouds crawled up his arm and over his shoulders. Then he sagged back as extra weight almost knocked him on his butt.
