Chapter ten: A Taste Of His Own Medicine

***PLEASE VOTE AND COMMENT IF YOU LOVED THIS CHAPTER***

Ever so softly, Mona walks into the estate owned by her family. She has lived here all her life; it is a stronghold owned by the vast generations of Auroras whose sweat and blood is still spoken about till this day—it is her greatest asset. Her hands slowly ball into a fist as she strides in; she wipes the streak of tears off her cheeks and bites her lips in anger.

Yes, she has been given more than she has asked for.

Her elaborate lifestyle could be equalled if not amounted to that of the royal princesses. And because of how poised and uniform society found her to be, she was named a prefecture princess and people consider her as one.

This has been more than a privilege. It took her to heights and careers that society would have shunned because she is a woman.

When she became fifteen, she lost interest in arts and whatever society told women to do. She picked up politics and saw she was good at it. After learning and reading from many scholars in the United lands, Mona knew she was ready.

Then, she told her father her plans. To her surprise, he agreed. He didn't try to remind her of what society thought about it. During the admission of scholars all over the world, Mona joined to garner a seat in this King's court. Despite the numbers of people who competed for the seats in the King's court.

Mona was able to surmount.

The officials argued about the instalment of a woman in the King's court, but Mona spoke for herself amidst them and made her place known. The Queen of United Lands, who was a friend to her late mother had her backing and after many whispers and chatters towards the King's ears.

Mona became the first female official in the royal court.

How?

How is it possible that with all that admiration she has earned her grandfather thinks he has the right to speak over her and expect her to submit?

As she thinks about all she has achieved with her wits and tactics, Mona walks past the servants in front of her grandfather's study and pushes the door open.

"Master, master, we tried to stop her." The servant boy rushes in and bows in apology.

Marcus Aurora, the father to Messiah looks over at his granddaughter, he sees her presence as disrepute, barging into his study like this is something she has never done before, but it isn't the first time she is disrespecting him. The study is occupied with followers of Marcus who are contemplating something of magnitude before she barges in.

Messiah, who is present in the atmosphere looks over at his daughter. The look in her eyes is full of aggression and he knows she is about to spill it.

"Made, take your sister away." Messiah says as he looks over at his first born child.

Made rises from his seat and heads over to his sister.

"I'm not going." Mona says, her eyes are glaring at her grandfather.

"Mona..." Made whispers with urgency as he tugs his sister.

I said I'm not going! Mona screams throwing her brother's hand away.

It catches everyone's attention in the room and the men who are discussing with each other have another look at her.

"If you would like your guests to hear what I'm about to say, then allow them to stay." Mona says.

Messiah stands from his seat and begs for an excuse. The guests leave the study and now it's just Mona, with the men of her family.

I will not marry Solaith Fierce! Mona says.

Did he try something with you, sister? Made asks with concern and anger.

"That's not it." It is us who has done something to him.

I am not so cunning and ruthless to join in matrimony despite what this family has done, and most importantly; I will not allow someone's greed rule over my life. Mona says.

Greed? Marcus Aurora finally speaks.

He is seated at the head of the table, part of his face is covered with pallid stubbles that links from his head to his chin, and his green eyes stare at his granddaughter who has always been rebellious since she came to this world.

"Yes, greed."

"I will not consent to your insatiability over my life. I will not marry Solaith Fierce or any one of your choosing." If you made a mistake then you should go bend your knees and beg for forgiveness. Mona says walking towards him.

Mona!

Messiah walks forward and slaps his daughter across the cheeks; he stares into her eyes with anger.

How can you speak to your grandfather that way!

He yells.

Mona stutters as she tries to speak, her eyes are filled with tears and her hand is holding her cheeks.

"I will not condone this manner less behaviour from you or anyone else! He says as he points at her."

Mona wipes her eyes as she steps back away from him.

Who are you? Mona asks.

"You will marry Solaith Fierce or we will all lose our heads, Mona! Her father says as he hits the table and prays for the sanity of his daughter."

"That will not change anything! He will destroy us all whether we are innocent or not, he said it to me."

Mona yells back.

Before anyone can say another word, Mona dashes out of the room in anger; she charges across the steep vases and begins to shatter them in fury, one after the other. After hearing the sound, her father and brother dash out of the study and run after her.

The clamour and blare of her rage wakes the whole house, her cousin, aunt, and every available servant living in the quaters rush out and is aghast by the state of the house caused by one woman.

Mona!

There is warning in Messiah's voice as he walks towards the sound of the crashing, he begins to order the male servants to hold her down as they head closer.

Mona begins to tear to piece the tapestries and every work of art the Aurora household has spent fortunes on. Every person stands out of her way as she demonstrates a real life mental and emotional breakdown. She crouches and picks the end of a broken piece as she waits for her father to meet up with her.

In her heart she is determined to end her life right here and right now. Why does she have to be the one who saves others? And how the hell will a marriage erase the bloodshed that Solaith's family went through?

Mona knows she is bound to a life of constriction and mental pain if she allows them to force her into something that will not still change their dire situation.

Mona inhales deeply, her eyes are blurry as she holds onto the broken piece, This is one of those moment where she wished her mother was still alive, maybe her father wouldn't have hit her today and maybe this would have never being an option in the first place!

Fortunately, Messiah catches up with is daughter, but slowly crumbles onto his knees when he sees what she is about to do. She has the sharp piece on her wrist, attempting to slit her wrists.

"Mona, Mona, I am sorry." Messiah says falling on his knees.

Mona!

Made yells, ready to charge at her and stop her from hurting herself.

Don't come close! Mona screams as she stands beside the entrance.

"You don't love me." You are all cowards! She screams again.

"That is not true Mona, I Love you, your father loves you and you know that. Do not hurt yourself."

Messiah says as she hopes he can get into her.

No.

Mona whispers.

"Only mother knows me, and I want to meet her. I want to get away from you, all of you, you don't love me." Mona says as she stretches her hand forward and takes a deep breath.

"Mona, don't be stupid now." I won't forgive you. Made says as he walks forward.

"I'm sorry." Mona closes her eyes as she raises the broken piece in the air.

In that very dire moment, someone walks into the house through the entrance where Mona is standing and places himself towards the harm's way.

Immediately she strikes, a part of her tells her she didn't hurt herself. At the slightest second she feels someone push her wrist away, but she knows she has struck something still.

Mona trembles, she knows she has done something but she doesn't feel the pain.

She is terrified to open her eyes to know why she isn't feeling twinge and nausea of slitting her wrists. Her hands are shaking, her eyes are quivering, but yet she ever so slowly, opens her eyes and it is all wrong.

Who has she injured?

Her hand instantly leaves the broken piece as she shivers in fear, she looks closely and it is no other than Solaith fierce. He took the blow of her antagonism and now, it is staining the ground with gore.

Mona slams her body against the wall as she crumbles on her knees in tears.

I...I

The man towering over her takes out the broken piece and drops it on the floor. Right on his shoulder is an injury he should never have, but he's fine because he's Solaith Fierce after all.
