Chapter 19 e Foolish Defiance

Pater straightened his back and stepped away with his hands held up near his ears. He lifted his chin and hollered over all the other noise, “Firmin! I think we should get your boy out of here!”

The conversation ceased and Firmin brought his attention to Pater, scoping him from his feet to his head, expectantly. “What did you just say to me?” Firmin nearly hissed. He expected the world out of Pater with very little return. A slave, but with a misleading title of partner. However, Pater didn't quite understand that.

Pater jerked his chin toward Iggy. “I think it’s time to put the toy back on the shelf. It’s messed up that he came down here in the first place, we should get him back.”

Firmin inhaled easily, filling his upper lungs and raising his shoulders quickly. As he came close enough to speak informally, his eyes scanned the surrounding darkness. He reached one arm to meet the back of Iggy’s chair, then he knelt on one knee and looked up into Iggy’s green face.
