Chapter 20 a Phantom's Wing

The door creaked open and a black cloud flashed through the opening, then the door slammed shut with hostility. Firmin’s eyes locked on the shadows still, even though he knew that Halina had gone. His voice became unusually small, “Pater, why’d you do that?”

The dizziness was overtaking Iggy the longer he stood on his own. His knees wobbled weakly, and he fell forward with an arm hinged over a chair. Desperately ill and ready to collapse, he whimpered, “no! Take me with you! All I want is to go back to bed.”

Pater’s thick arm caught Iggy’s shoulders and he repositioned him back up to standing on his own legs. Pater sighed, “it’s better to get things like that out in the open as soon as possible. If you want anything resembling normal, honesty is going to be your greatest tool.”
