Chapter 24 b Proven

The final sunset had come and gone, and outside of the auditorium people were gathering in herds to be the first inside. No one had come in since Halina had left, not even to check up on Iggy. He had been alone in the dark for a day and a half, just waiting for someone to let him out, so that he could stop starving.

When Firmin entered, the loud racket from the other side of the doors blasted in Iggy’s sensitive ears even over the distance. Firmin came to the cage and peered inside, yet failed to see Iggy in there at all. The shadow had taken him under its full protection hours ago and he was virtually invisible.
