23: Calm Before The Storm

The next morning, Greg got dressed for work and left before Donna had even woke up. He didn’t disturb her because she had tossed and turned quite a bit during the night.

On his way to the office, Craig phoned him.

“Good morning, Mr. Marshall.”

“Good morning, Mr. Willis.”

“Where are you right now?”

“I am at the I34 turn-off.”

“Ok, well then I will see you when you get to the office.”

“What’s up?”

“Nothing that can’t wait until you aren’t driving.”

“Ok.”

He turned off his phone and frowned. Why couldn’t it have waited in the first place?

When he got to the MAC Building, he drove to the underground parking lot, got out of his car and straight into the express elevator.

When he stepped out, the receptionist stood up and greeted him quickly.

“Good morning, Mr. Marshall.”

“Good morning, Henrietta. How are you this morning?”

“I- I’m fine thanks, sir. How- are you?” she asked uncertainly.

He looked at her quizzically. “I’m fine. Is Craig Willis here yet?”
