“My father” Angelina repeated
The words chanted in her head. She wanted to laugh‚ thinking her mother was playing a joke on her‚ but her mother looked serious.
“What!! No…. that can’t be true” Angelina said‚ and she turned to the man she had been calling‚ her father for the past 10 years.
She clenched her fists‚ not knowing why she was angry.
“I’m sorry dear‚ but you need to lend me your ears.” Her mother said. Her mother took a deep breath and continued “The man in your dream‚ his name is James; James Stain and he was an orphan. He wasn’t fully stable mentally right from a young age. He was adopted at the age of 7‚ and that was his 4th adoption. He was always returned back to the orphanage after a week or two. The couples that had adopted him always returned him‚ and they all said he was dark and bad things happened whenever he was around. He was even trouble to the other children there at the orphanage.
MR. and MRS. Stain were the 4th couples that adopted him. They looked passed the rumours about James and concluded that all he needed was love from the right people.
MR. Stain was a very wealthy man in search a hire. A son‚ who could take over his business‚ possessions‚ and as well keep the family name‚ Stain going. He didn’t have any children and his wife was barren- meaning she couldn’t have kids.
They were married for 45years and time wasn’t really on their side‚ so that’s when they gave adoption an option. The decision made MR. Stain furious‚ but what else could they do.
The lovely couple loved and cared for James. He was sent to the best schools‚ and taken overseas to further his education. James graduated with a first class in Business Administration.
Yes‚ they were times MR. Stain would receive phone calls about James violent behaviours‚ but he always ignored it.
MR. Stain always believed and trusted James until the night his wife died.
MR. Stain had gone out that evening for a walk‚ leaving James and his wife at home.
James always loved MRS. Stain like she was his birth mother. But having James just wasn’t enough for MRS. Stain. She wanted her own‚ and wanted to experience child birth; to juggle motherhood with her demanding career.
James offered to help MRS. Stain make dinner that night. And she instructed James to go get some meat at the nearby supermarket‚ since the ones available weren’t enough.
James returned home with the meat‚ only to find MRS. Stain lying in a pool of her own blood with a knife to her stomach. James rushed to her side‚ immediately checking for pulse just in case she was still alive. The mistake he made was touching the knife. All evidence pointed to him‚ his finger print on the knife and her blood on his clothes. There was nothing he said that proofed he didn’t kill her‚ even MR. Stain believed that James had killed his wife.
Out of anger James was sent to prison that same night.
James served his sentence and returned after some years to seek revenge‚ who mocked MRS. Stain because she never experienced childbirth‚ those who called him a murderer. James believed MRS. Stain did what she did because of pressure from her mates and the community in general.
James took the lives of innocent children whose parents were among those that mocked MRS. Stain while she was alive. He wanted them all to feel his pain‚ the pain MRS. Stain felt when she knew she couldn’t bare her own child‚ the pain he felt when he lost the only woman that ever showed him love.
And as for MR. Stain‚ James had locked him up in the house basement‚ and only fed him once a day. Each time James took a life‚ he would go down to the basement and pour out his anger on MR. Stain. After 3years of torture towards MR. Stain‚ James sent him to a mental hospital‚ telling them MR. Stain would cut and beat himself up every night.
