Chapter 2

"Oh my gummywings. . .This is earth?" Uriel gasped at the sight beneath him.

The giant blue planet was magnificent! Uriel could see the continents, North America and South America.

Michael smirked at Uriel's reaction. He responded with a hum and gradually descended into the atmosphere.

It was not as beautiful as the Angelic Realm, where the stars filled the night sky like glitter. But due to the humans' pollution only a few stars were visible.

Nonetheless, the city below compensated. The lights from the buildings twinkled brightly like a sea of stars on the ground.

Uriel was speechless. His heart was racing with excitement. He felt the outmost joy.

Angels only ever got to see the outside world once they turned eighteen. But he was only eleven! This was definitely the best day ever.

"This is New York." Michael explained.

"It's situated in North America, which is one of the-"

"The seven earthly continents. . ." Uriel completed in utter amazement, his eyes raked through the city.

Michael smiled at him. He already knew so much for an angel his age.

He always studied the human world more than his classmates. And was the top achiever in his class every semester.

What could they have expected? He was the prince, usually they exceed everyone else.

Uriel bit his lip in thought. He wanted to see a human. He wanted to see them in real life and not only in his textbooks.

"Can we. . .Can we see a human?" He asked carefully.

Michael kept a blank face. He then sighed and swirled around, flapping his massive wings. Uriel began to whine.

"Aw, come on big brother, please."

"No." Michael said curtly, eyes to the front.

"Please, please. I promise I'll be quiet." He put his little hands together.

"No." Michael sighed boredly. He sighed a lot.

"Please."

"No."

"Pwease." Uriel pouted and prolonged the word, making his words sound more baby-ish.

Michael smirked teasingly, "You look like a frog, stop." He commented and Uriel gasped, provoking a laugh from Michael.

Which only happened, like, once every million years. Michael wasn't the 'laughing' type.

"Your majesty?" Someone gasped from behind them. Michael and Uriel tensed.

Gabriel was shocked to find a royal here.

He didn't know it was Michael. He only saw the golden feathers, so he assumed it was a member of the royal family.

"Keep quiet. . ." Michael whispered to Uriel. He then used the upper half of his wings and wrapped it around Uriel.

He relaxed once he saw that it was just his best friend, Gabriel.

"Woah, calm your panties prince." Gabriel joked. He knot his brows at the sight before him.

"What's under there?" He asked, referring to the bundle of wings in Michael's arms.

His wings unwinded around a startled Uriel. His hands grasped tightly on Michael's shirt. His eyes panicked.

Gabriel's eyes widened. Shock enveloped his body as he stared at Uriel.

"What in all the realms is he doing here?!" He exclaimed.

Michael shrugged, "He wanted to see Earth." he simply put it as if it wasn't a big deal.

"Bro! This is crazy! Do you know where you are? It's too dangerous out here, I mean what if he gets-"

"Have you forgotten who you're speaking to?" Michael smirked.

Gabriel stopped babbling. He realized that Michael was a royal. The angel next in line to the throne.

What was he worried about?

Gabriel sighed and ran a hand through his blonde hair, "Fine. But what if your father and mother find out?"

"They won't." Michael narrowed his eyes, glaring at Gabriel. Gabriel got the message.

This must be kept a secret.

Michael sighed. He wanted to calm down, his anxiousness was rising.

He looked for a place to land. Far in the distance was a forest.

"Over there. Come on."

Uriel felt a surge of happiness dilute his uneasiness. He was going to step on the grounds of earth!

When they land on the green pastures Uriel hopped out his brother's arms, his heavy wings cause him to trip and fall on his butt.

But he was to joyful to care, he only giggled. He scanned the area in bewilderment.

The two adults observed the happiness in his eyes. The way he smiled and accentuate his curiousness.

The boy was adorable.

Gabriel looked at Michael. Why would Michael risk his younger brother's life? He loved him more than anything.

"Dude. Again, why?" Gabriel grabbed his attention and placed a hand on his shoulder.

"I told you, he wanted to-"

"Oh, cut the crap man. You love your brother, you'd never put his life in danger." Gabriel interjected, crossing his buff arms.

Michael sighed, "He kept sneaking out. He was really close to making it this time. I know Uriel, he won't quit till he gets what he wants. I thought that if I give him what he wants he'll stop wanting it."

Gabriel nodded, finally understanding.

"And you? What're you doing here?" Michael asked with a raised brow.

"Checking up on my human. She's six months pregnant, no better time to protect her." Gabriel smiled proudly.

"Pregnant. Her poor husband." Michael joked.

"Yeah, he can't even breathe around her." Gabriel chuckled.

"I am never gonna get married." Michael shook his head.

All the while the two were talking, Uriel was slowly getting away from them.

Uriel was a troublemaker. He had a mischievous smirk playing his lips. This was his chance to explore further.

He would have no other. This was probably the last time, till he turns eighteen, that he'll ever come back here.

He needed to make it worth it.

So he ran. He ran further into the luminous forest.

His feet felt the dirt, the grass. His heart leaped as he felt the cackling leaves as he rushed by them.

He giggled softly, running farther in.

He observed the skyscraping trees, how the twinkling night illuminated each leaf.

He slowed his pace and reached a small pond. The waters were still, there lilies with beautiful flowers on them.

He bent down, stared at his reflection in the still waters. The bright moon lucid and white as snow.

A croak sounded ahead. Uriel snapped his eyes to the green frog. He then looked back at his reflection.

Recalling his brother's words, he frowns.

"I don't look like a frog." He snickered.

Then he heard it. The fluttering of wings and the grunts of a little child.

His heart quickened as he trained his eyes on the bush.

"Ah!" He heard it again and his heart sunk. He wanted to run. To run fast back to his brother.

But his curiosity. His curiosity got the better of him.

He creeped towards the bush, as silent as he could. His heart beat louder with every step.

Closer and closer.

He heard the yelp again and he contemplates running. But on he went.

He peeped through the crispy leaves and he froze.

A girl. A young girl about his age.

Her skin had a chocolate complexion. Her hair was voloumous and looked gravity-defying. Her eyes were like the red of a fresh rose.

Uriel's eyes dilated, curiosity and attraction was all he felt.

Then he saw her wings.

Her dark, maroon-coloured wings. They weren't smooth like an angel's. No. They were ragged and large, like a vultures'.

She was a demon.

His realisation set in too late. Her eyes that were once a romantic rose turned into a fierce demon red.

It there was ever a perfect time to cry for your mommy that was it.

Suddenly, Uriel stiffened. His body felt like stone. He froze in place as if a wicked spell had fallen over him.

"What. . .what are you doing to me?" He grunted, fear outlined his tone.

The demon girl stalked towards him. It seems she was using her ability using her eyes.

"What are you? You can't be a demon, I know every demon." Her voice wasn't soft or gentle. It was rough and lined with menace.

Uriel gulped, his heart beat faster than the wings of a hummingbird.

She didn't know what he was. It's better that way. If he told her, he'd be dead for sure.

Uriel didn't answer her. The demon girl's rage hightened, her eyes become brighter.

"Tell me, you filthy critter!" She grit out. And at that very moment, Uriel's trachea began to contract.

His supply of air was decreasing. His heart rate was increasing.

He was being choked, but no hands were around his neck. It was her. The demon.

She was so powerful at such a young age.

Black holes filled his vision, tears formed by the corner of his eyes. He began struggling, sucking in air but nothing came in.

He was going to die.
