However I Endeavor

(Butterfly effect time)

An angry orange-haired man sped through the hospital(Yes, some forensics are done through major hospitals rather than police stations.) with purpose. Reaching the Morgue, he nearly slammed the door open. He looked at Ani, his guilt ward as his Rei said. Ani represented his biggest flaw, he knew it. He knew he had probably orphaned more than her, but when he saw her in the middle of the flames outside that office, cradling her burnt mother, something had broke in him. All his arrogance had blinded him to his actions but seeing the little girl had put it in perspective. His own boy was her same age, he knew he could never see that again.

He didn't really take her in, only provided her with housing and kept the corpo's off her back. Every time he got angry though, he thought of her, the little girl that didn't cry in the face of death, and it calmed him. In a grim sense, she was probably the reason he had any relationship with his wife and children. He stared blankly at the massive wings on her back.

"Get a doctor, this could be the latest quirk awakening in recent history."

The nurse did as he requested and got the doctor.

He came in, understandably confused, and began basic checks. Enji thought Ani looked too still, too calm. She looked like a girl-shaped statue in that bed.

"Sir, her heart and lungs aren't working. She's undead as far as I can tell."

"What does this mean?"

"Dear, do you feel anything different other than the obvious?"

"I feel like there's something....else. Like I'm in two places at once. I can also feel something... in my bones"

"I want you to focus on that 'two places' feeling for me."

They all watched with interest as she disappeared, then immediately came back. The doctor, Dr. Travis, made some notes on his clipboard.

"Do you remember anything before your transition?"

"No sir. How long have I been dead, by the way?"

The adults flinched at that.

"You've been...indisposed, for about a week. It is December 2148"

"What do I do now?"

Endeavor spoke up then, "You come with me. I'm your current legal guardian. You'll stay with my family for a while."

"Do I get a choice?"

"No"

"Okay."

They did some more tests with her quirk. She could disappear into what she called the shadow realm. She had the wings of course, which seemed to give more power and control than they should be able to. If she focused on it, a black smoky substance released from her pores that she could manipulate with a lot of focus. Finally, she healed fast, too fast.

The doctor narrowed it down to her having developed two quirks or one very complicated quirk. His theory was that her healing, shadow ability, and ooze were the same quirk, and the wings were separate, then some of the properties of each quirk fed into each other.

Endeavor, despite his attempts to better himself, felt an itch at the back of his mind. She was going to be a powerhouse if it was his last act upon this world.
