For weeks, Ashur roamed around different towns, posing as a wandering warrior and looking for work.
But most of the time, he was only offered odd jobs instead of what he was looking for, such as defeating a monster or defending a town.
Whenever he suggested these ideas, he was always scoffed and laughed at.
“You are going to fight a monster alone? Don’t be silly.”
“If you went to fight a monster, my bet will be on the monster. You just don’t stand a chance.”
“Ha! You want me to trust you with defending our town? What a joke! Dream on!”
Though not everyone taunted him, the ones who rejected him kindly hurt almost just as much.
“Boy, it’s good to have dreams. But not all dreams can be achieved.”
“You should take a look at yourself in the mirror.”
“Maybe try something else?”
With his young and innocent looks, no one trusted Ashur to be a fierce fighter.
