Chapter 14: The Jack Rabbit Force

In a few of whatever time intervals can be used to measure one’s own descent to death, Nick felt the force acting on him again. He was slowing. Additionally, he had gained a bit of x velocity and was not merely falling straight down. His eyes opened again and whatever unnatural force was being exerted over the fall came in fits and starts. It was repeated. It was a sign of intent, probably. A drop and slow later, he noticed that they were headed to the rooftop of a building across the street, one he’d never so much as noticed what it said. It had a billboard bearing the long-haired but well-groomed face of Mark Duquesne and word bubble that proclaimed something forgettably inspiring. His usual line was, “Life is Power.”
