Chapter 37: Paper Drive

Pietr was on the move. Jenna’s orders were clear: do not engage the target under any circumstances. She’d been shadowing him all morning with little to report. He was talking to police. He was on his phone. He was going into the apartment building. He was going out. This was the first he’d strayed past the caution tape. Dressed as a civilian, she weaved in and out of the now dissipating crowds around what was left of a scene of some sort of explosion. He had been there all day with the two detectives, in their SJTPD sweatsuits - replacement clothes. They were supposed to be werewolves. Jenna was one of the few Morningstars who had seen a fully transformed lycanthrope. She wasn’t in a hurry to repeat the experience.

“Feed’s not clear. What’s going on over there?” came a voice through Jenna’s earpiece.

“Target’s northbound on foot. Guerrera by High. Two lobos are with him.”

“Proceed with extreme caution. Do *not* give yourself away,” said the voice.

“Roger.”
