Runi couldn’t help but giggle each time when I talked how the General led me to the library and tried to bribe me not to sneak out anymore. She brushed my hair and then secured my mother’s engagement hairpin at the side of my head.

She was teary eyed after we looked into the mirror after I’ve worn the engagement dress that the General gave me this afternoon.

As I’ve anticipated, it fitted me accordingly since my body seemed to be in accordance to the standard measurements. I think I took my body size from my petite mother.

My hair had been ironed out to tame all the frizz. A maid was dressing my hair with multiple ornaments that symbolized many things: golden leaves accessories for continuous prosperity and small rubies to ward off all misfortunes. My head became a nest of all these expensive jewels. I might as well pour all the contents from my mother’s jewelry box unto my head.
