Chapter 26

"Alright, girls are you ready for this?" Alister asked us again as he walked us to the backstage area.

"Of course."

"Good Lara you good?" He asked me.

"Perfect." I smiled at him.

"Little Lady, you ready?" He asked Olivia.

"I have the camera!" She said happily.

"Great!" Alister said. "Love, are you read?"

"Sound is set and music is in. Once the current comes down on the opening group we are ready. When am I ever not ready?" Nicole demanded from him. I laughed at her. "You the one that was always late." She huffs

"Now now my love." He sighed.

"Nope, now the others are coming back so. Guys break a leg out there. Lara give your old man a heart attack with Darkness!" She laughed as we headed to the stage. I tapped my rope that was always there took thirty-five steps forward clicked my heels turned right and took fifteen steps forward to my spot.

"Ready?" I asked them.

"Always." Came the reply as the current came up and I smiled as I heard the thundering rawr of the crowd and I spoke up.

"Welcome everyone! How are all of my fellow Gotham teens tonight!?!" I called.

The cheers raw red again as I hear every answer from okay to great. "That is wonderful! Now as you know we like to start with new songs that aren't fully polished up!" I grinned at them. "This song is for everyone who has ever felt like they were not enough. The loners, the Losers, the Blind, the deaf, the popular kid who hides behind a smile this is for you guys!" The crowd raw red again as the music started.

"You." I started singing as I tapped my heel to the beat of the drums. Are not Your makeup. You."I brought my hands up to my chest then as if I was pushing something I sang. "Are not their words." I smiled as I turned and I felt Kayla press her back against mine. "Your as strong as superwoman," We turned and I cupped her face. "You heart as strong as steel." I gripped her hand and spun her. "Girl stand up and hold your head high! For the Dragon within burning bright!"

I felt the lights shift and change. I took a step right then four steps back to where the wire was. I clipped it to my belt and as I started singing the next line I slowly flew upward.

"So take to the skies and sore high then their fear." I loved it in a slow circle around the stage. "Let your dreams take flight!" I said flying higher.

"You high enough," Alister said through the ear piece.

I smile and give a nod as I nod along to the beat. "Don't let them tell you are not good enough and that you can't do it!" I did my best not to let my anger slide through my voice as I sang that line. I flew forward two beats then crossed my legs and sat there as if I was holding a line between my legs and starts slowly spinning "For you are superwoman and you can fly!" I lowered myself as sang. "So let the dragon sore!"

Kayla caught me and sung the next line as she spun with me in her arms. "Little boy don't Blue." She set me on my feet.

"You is as strong as Superman." we sang together as the other joined in.

"Stong as superman." They sang.

"So let love be your only Kryptonite!" I sang as I grabbed Kayla's hand and we started to tango. As I sang. "Your shadow is your strength, never let another's shroud you.

For you are super just the way you are.

When you feel like your drowning remember your as strong as superman." Kayla spun me back and as I spun I took fight again turning and spinning as I sang.

"So fly, and sore high in the sky,

As you rise higher than their fears!

Let your dreams take flight as the dragon burn bright!" As I held last night I landed and everyone went crazy when we took a bow.

"Thank you, everyone!" Kayla said making the crowd rawr again. "Now as we all know this place is only as safe as the knights of Gotham keep it. So to give thanks to the dark knights who protect us through the Darkness. Batman, Batwoman, Nightwing, Red Hood, Red Robin, Robin, The Signal, Oracle, Spoiler, Orphan. This song is a tribute to you and your darkness. Even if the Signal isn't out at night." She joked.

The crowd chuckled with her.

I started then Dora followed behind me. "Darkness." I started.

"Oh Darkness." Dora sang.

"Come fly to me." Kayla sang as she spun me around as dipped me down to where I was in the splits.

"Bringing your dark hope to me." Ruma said holding the high note as Kayla pulled me up and the lights on the stage went out only the neon lights in the back as they played through the heroes' silhouettes. "Darkness of Darkness." She held the last note.

"Let your peace ring on." Kayla's voice rang out.

"Inside you, Hope will live on." Both Dora and I sang at the same time.

"Darkness oh Darkness." Kayla sang.

"Bring your hope this night." My voice echoed off the now silent room other than the music that played.

"Cast your should, cover all my plight." Ruma sang as she lit an ark of fire-making everyone gasp.

"DO you rest in shadows deep?" Kayla sang.

"Darkness oh Darkness!" Dora's voice cut through the sounds of the crowd.

"Let us love this night." I leaned my back against Ruma's as she pushed us up into the arm with a pillar of ice as the fire rings around us.

"When the light shines!" Kayla started.

"Are shadows here you hide?" Ruma sang.

We sang the last verse together as the fire died out. "Darkness, oh Darkness!." Bright the hope this night. PUll me up from shadows. Let the darkness shine!" The current dropped then so we could melt the ice.

There was an announcement then. "Due to some technical difficulties, we will be right back.

"I made too much sorry." Ruma said as she and Dora melted the ice.

"We both did." Dora sighed. "I wish I could just vanish it."

"Too much for your magic?" I asked her.

"At the moment yes." She sighed.

"Well, thankfully we have wings next so who is ready to fly?"Kayla asked me.

"Well, I am almost scared of what my Papa is going to do to us after this song."

"We could do ashes instead," Dora said.

"No, we promised them Wings." I said softly.

"Alright! So now that we got that fixed." Nicole said as the current was raised making the crowd go wild.

"Now as you all know we take a pole and do the winning song." I called out over them,

"The winner of this month's song is wings by little mix!" Kayla said.

"We hope you enjoy the show!" We called out as we all took to the sky with real in Kayla's case but fack for mine, Ruma, and Dora's case. As we sang we flew around doing loops, spins. Dives and anything else my father would have a heart attack with.

Mama told me not to waste my life (ah-ooh)

She said, "Spread your wings, my little butterfly" (ah-ooh)

Don't let what they say keep you up at night (ah-ooh)

And if they give you-, shh

Then they can walk on by

My feet, feet can't touch the ground

And I can't hear a sound

But you just keep on running up your mouth, yeah

Walk, walk on over there

'Cause I'm too fly to care, oh, yeah

Your words don't mean a thing

I'm not listening

Keep talking, all I know is

Mama told me not to waste my life

She said, "Spread your wings, my little butterfly"

Don't let what they say keep you up at night

And they can't detain you

'Cause wings are made to fly

And we let nobody bring us down

No matter what you say, it won't hurt me

Don't matter if I fall from the sky

These wings are made to fly

I'm firing up on that runway

I know we're gonna get there someday

But we don't need no ready, steady, go, no

Talk, talk turns into air

And I don't even care, oh, yeah

Your words don't mean a thing

I'm not listening

Keep talking, all I know is

Mama told me not to waste my life

She said, "Spread your wings, my little butterfly"

Don't let what they say keep you up at night

And they can't detain you

'Cause wings are made to fly

And we don't let nobody bring us down

No matter what you say, it won't hurt me

Don't matter if I fall from the sky

These wings are made to fly

I don't need no one saying, "Hey, hey, hey, hey"

I don't hear no one saying, "Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey"

You better keep on walking

I don't wanna hear your talking, boy

You better keep on walking

I don't wanna hear your talking, boy

Your words don't mean a thing

I'm not listening

They're just like water off my wings

Mama told me not to waste my life (ooh, woah)

She said, "Spread your wings, my little butterfly" (my little butterfly)

Don't let what they say keep you up at night

And they can't detain you

'Cause wings are made to fly

And we don't let nobody bring us down

No matter what you say, it won't hurt me (oh, woah)

Don't matter if I fall from the sky (oh, woah)

These wings are made to fly

And we don't let nobody bring us down

No matter what you say, it won't hurt me

Don't matter if I fall from the sky

These wings are made to fly.

As we sang the last note we landed and I can hear my father cursing under his breath.

"Alight guys as much as I would love to hear our lovely Lady's sing more we are going to have to let them go for the night." Riggy started.

"Well well well what do we have here?" I made a face as I hear that voice.

"Ridder?" I asked.

"Oh my my the famous Lara Clark-Wayne knows my voice? I flattered!" He joked as I sighed.

"What do you want?" I asked him tilting my head. "You're normally one who prefers to just push the buttons of the Bats trying to play with their minds not making chaos."

"My my aren't you well informed." He said.
