Giselle's POV
"Rae! Rae!" calling out to her I walked downstairs into the kitchen, taking a bottle of water out of the fridge I leaned against the counter gulping down half of it.
Hearing someone clear their throat, I turned towards to source of the sound, and there stood Rae in all her glory. Her brown hair perfectly put together like a bird's nest wearing a navy blue tank top and white booty shorts, rubbing her eyes like a baby.
"I'm hungry," and that was my cue to laugh and spit all the water I had in my mouth. "Rae seriously," I said laughing. "Why don't you move your lazy ass and make something for yourself. If you are that hungry why don't you help yourself? Huh."
"Oh come on. Don't tell me you're not."
"Obviously I am." I said plainly. Not wanting to boost her lame ego.
"Ah, yes. Are you in the mood of picking your lazy ass up and cooking?"
Giving her my sheepish smile I answered.
"Let's go then I guess dad's not going to wake up until the afternoon. First, we'll eat something then of course as your highness wishes. I'll prepare something from him and will leave a note. After that, I'll go get ready then, and please you also do the same I don't want to see you lying on the couch when I come down." Nodding she took the bottle from my hand and walked towards her room across the living room.
......
......
I wore a black tank top and denim jeans along with my black strappy heels. Doing my routine minimal makeup and letting my hair down in wavy curls.
I grabbed my denim jacket and Channel handbag. I went to her room to find the madam still applying her makeup.
"Are you done?"
"Yup almost."
"You finish with it. I'll check on dad and get the car out of the garage."
"Fine."
Dad's room was beside Rae's so I went ahead. I opened the door carefully and saw him peacefully sleeping. I was happy he was here, since mom's death and after shifting to New York I didn't get much time with him. I knew it was difficult for him to live here, with everything reminding him of her. So it was best to get a change.
But mom's death didn't have a good effect on him he started drinking and spent most of his time at the bar. He had his business of car dealership. Which started to turn out bad due to his lack of concentration. We had to put up the place for rent closing down the business.
Mom died due to a brain hemorrhage. Leaving all of us in shock and distorted. We were all so unprepared that it took us time to accept that she was already gone. Her leaving us was like the scattering of beads when a thread is broken. She was our thread that tied us all together. Preventing us from falling apart.
Thankfully having a lot of savings and insurance had us secured financially. And the rent coming in helped a lot. I had already got my admission so it would have been difficult for me to go with him so I stayed here.
Rae was four years elder than me, she had almost settled in New York and her university was offering her an internship after graduation because of her good grades.
It was good that someone would be with him. It's been almost five years when I last saw mom and hugged her. When I saw her bright smile the one she gave me when I suddenly used to kiss her cheeks. I missed her.
I didn't realize when I had started crying until Rae wiped my tears.
"Don't be sad. She wouldn't like it and see it's a happy day today she would also be happy. So why do you want to make her sad." She whispered looking at me with love and that suddenly changed into a cheeky grin which gave me a clear idea that whatever she was thinking was coming from the devilish side of her mind.
Ohh no-no. This expression which she just gave me now was a clear warning because only she knew what was to come.
.........
.........
"I'm tired now Rae look we have almost bought half of the store."
"Oh come on! What I bought was all needed. Your wardrobe had to be changed have you seen it, full of your casual dresses, only a few were formal and your pj's, loose t-shirts, and boyfriend shirts. Mind to tell me who was this boyfriend of yours? Who has willingly given you all his shirts." I had to laugh on this one I knew what she was doing.
"Yeah let me tell who he is come here!" and then I decided that I'd do what I best the tickle torture.
Rae being completely unaware kept on walking and I started it. I started tickling her stomach all the way up her neck, causing her to drop the shopping bags she was holding, not even giving a single glance to the world around us.
I continued until those tears filled both our eyes and I was not being able to hold myself because of the laughter.
I leaned myself against the wall nearby and brushed off the tears. Rae did the same after we came down from the high laughter session we looked at each other and smiled. We didn't need words to express our feelings she understood mine and I hers.
Thankfully when I looked around our surroundings there was no one. Maybe no one had witnessed us.
We picked up the bags and this time I also carried them. Earlier I had made this clear that I won't be holding them but seeing her that she had carried them for a long time I helped her.
We had bought all the necessary things I needed, my internship would start in a week at D'Romano Architects & Planners. Matteo D'Romano had started this branch almost eight years ago. It is one of the branches including many others across the world. He owns a chain of hotels and restaurants also, that are now under his son.
This reminds me I had to search him too.
I had dreamt of working here, it is one of the topmost companies and would be really good if I got my job there for my CV as well as for my sleep it was near my house, at 15 minutes drive.
Bringing me back from trance my sister pulled me into a store and began ordering me again. "Now only the shoes are left, after that, we are gonna head to our next location," "Where?" I faked gasped earning a hard glare from her.
The store was really huge. Having all kinds of shoes I forgot to see the brand but looking at the interior I got an idea of how expensive it must be. Not that we are poor but we aren't even that rich to buy the entire mall in a day. But looking at Rae, I couldn't decipher what she was thinking about coming here.
"Rae, Rae," I whispered tugging on her arm. "I don't think we should buy shoes. I already have a lot of them."
"We aren't buying the entire store. Got dammit. Now stop behaving like this." She whisper yelled seeing my behavior.
She started looking at the shoes and so did I.
I saw a pair of blood-red heels the caught my attention my sister saw what I was looking at and called the salesman to bring the shoes for me to try.
I tried them on and feet in love with it. " This is your graduation gift from me." She smiled at me, reminding me of mom.
