“My beauty, my masterpiece, manifest!” and another Seraphim manifested, created entirely with His words. “Thou shall be called Samael.”
“That became my origin story, a little bit boring, but who am I to judge? I am the morning star, the most beautiful of angels! The shiniest-” Samael fluttered his colorful wings in front of the new fledglings as Michael walked in the chamber room.
“Sam, the congregation is starting, stop indoctrinating the new fledglings.” Michael smiled so sweetly at his brothers and sisters as he lead them to the throne room where the congregation has been gathering.
“Don’t be so coy. It wouldn’t hurt to tell your origin story as well, Michael. You’re the firstborn.” He continued to boast as they tread past the hallways of gold and silver.
“I have no wish to tell it.” Michael brushed off his brother as he ascended to the stairs to the throne room.
“Come on.” Samael pestered him, but he simply turned his face to him and sweetly smiled.
“We’re here. Make sure to conduct the choirs perfectly for the Creator.” The Captain ruffled Samael’s hair as he stepped into the pulpit directly under the throne.
“Stop…” The Will of God playfully flicked his hair back in place, and began the congregation like any other day.
That was just two suns ago? Why is everything crumbling like this?
SFX: Whushk *Sword slicing*
Father finally turned you into something you never wanted, Michael, how pathetic.
The Captain dashed to and fro and slashed his brothers and sisters that rebelled without any though of hesitation.
That’s what was showing on the outside, but Samael knew exactly what was happening.
Samael desperately defended against each fatal blow, meticulously swinging the half of his Flaming Sword to protect his heart and his head as Michael clashed against him.
He dreadfully tried to reason with the untamed power of God, unsuccessfully, each time he sensed a chance to do so.
“Michael! Wake up! Wake up, brother!”
The others seemed to be unaware of what’s happening. Samael darted his eyes to the others.
As he continually decreased in his strength, Michael persistently increased in his.
The thousand years of indignation and manipulation, exploded in one hell-of-a-frenzy in the Great Rebellion.
Samael never expected these developments. Caught up in his own selfishness and pride, he only thought of himself as he secretly swayed the Host of Heaven to campaign against their Almighty Creator.
Almost a third of the host of heaven were quick to be persuaded, their hearts, cold as ice, wanted the same “freedom” and “liberty” that Samael spoke of.
Patiently waiting for the right moment, Samael took his sweet time to further strengthen the core of the insurgence by recruiting his twin brother, Michael.
The big brother that Michael was, he never budged to Samael’s intrepid suggestions about “freedom” and “free will”.
“We are only soldiers doing Father’s will and command.” Michael reasoned to his twin.
“WE WERE MADE THAT WAY = made to fulfill any order He desires fulfilling.” He put stress and emphasis on that last statement.
-------------------- // --------------------
Soldiers, huh. Samael quietly scoffed as he see Michael turned into a will-less zombie, who was out for destruction and bloodbath.
As the war progressed into a massacre of the rebels, Heaven’s skies dimmed for the very first time, and the throne room’s windows gently closed as the rebels ceased to exist, one by one, mercy and repentance was not an option for the insurgents.
Samael never imagined the capability of his twin brother before this very day. He never dreamed of how Michael lives up to the meaning of his title, the Power of God, and his name which means, “He who is like God.”
The God who created them, the God who split the Heavens, the God who created the Earth, the God who fashioned the skies, the lands, the animals, and the humans. Who is like Him?
God declared Michael as the ‘Power Of God’, Samael, inversely, was acknowledged as the ‘Will Of God’, being one of the most powerful Archangels and the most beautiful one in Heaven.
He became Heaven’s Choir Director, having many voices made for praises to the Almighty, whilst God anointed Michael as the Captain of the Heaven’s Host.
Samael’s voice, made to bring worship, now cries for dishonour. His beauty, made for glory and adoration, now exhibits shame and disdain. His power, revelled for magnificence and grandeur, now wallowed by inelegance.
My comrades falling, one by one, by the monster that Father had concocted against me. Eon has been controlling Michael’s movement since he has received that oracle from God.
Perhaps like conjoined twins, the two, Michael and Samael, had more than just same pretty face - they are connected by their hearts and will.
Angels have free will as well as freedom to think for themselves, though they have the ability to obey or disobey an order, disobedience is wickedness and evil and it does not come without a price.
Perhaps, Michael also realized what I am talking about, about freedom and liberty from this service, creating a family of my own.
As Samael had this realization, he quickly sought to negotiate.
“Father! The Almighty Creator, we- we surrender, we have made a mistake.”
I have made a decision by myself again, perhaps I can convince Michael this time, this time that Eon has appeared.
Many of Samael’s cohorts suddenly turned against him as he attempted to bargain their freedom.
The throne of God shone brightly amidst the battle and war, and each angel stopped, stooped down and bowed to the Almighty, even the renegades who chose themselves rather than serving their Creator.
Eon, who was just created moments ago, kneeled, using Michael’s body, covered with blood, sweat, and tears and with his face barely recognizable from the debris of the battle.
“SAMAEL, YOUR SELFISH DESIRE AND PRIDE HAVE CAUSED THE HEAVENS, BLOOD.” Heaven’s thunders roared at the first words of God after the Creation.
Samael has not yet realized this but the blood of his brethren will be required of him on the judgment day.
“FOR THIS, YOU AND THE REBELS WILL BE THROWN OUT OF HEAVEN AND YOU WILL BE THE FIRST PRISONERS OF HELL. YOUR TITLE WILL BE STRIPPED FROM YOU, YOUR BEAUTY, AND YOUR ARMOUR. ONLY YOUR CUNNING WISDOM AND POWER WILL YOU MAINTAIN FOR THE NEXT SEVEN THOUSAND YEARS TO COME. AFTER THOSE YEARS, I WILL FINALLY GIVE YOU YOUR PUNISHMENT AND SENTENCE.”
Father… Father has spoken… For the first time, and this- this is what you will say all those years you were silent?!
As Samael fell from the Heavens down to Earth and to Hell, his lingering hand reaching out with his wings burning from entry to the atmosphere is the last thing that Michael wanted to see that day.
-------------------- // --------------------
“That truly was my freedom story.” He bickered amidst his congregation in hell.
“Even in this situation, you’re still stroking your ego, Lucifer.” Asmodeus, the Prince of the fallen Cherubs, approached his self-made throne elevated atop the lake of fire.
“Come on, don’t be coy. I’ve lead you all here, didn’t I?” I’ve given you freedom from slavery. He shuffled Asmodues’ hair just as Michael did to him.
“Stop doing that! It annoys me to the core.” The demon of fallen Cherub struggled to fix his hair.
“What are you planning right now in that head of yours?” The Prince of the Fallen Powers, Mammon, scoffed at Lucifer as he hovered near his so-called throne.
“What, are you getting bored now?” Lucifer chuckled from beneath his breathe, teasing his brother who approached him.
“He’s talking about the humans that Father created.” Father? Leviathan, Prince of the Fallen Dominion chimed in from beneath the throne in the midst of the lake of fire and darkness.
“I’ve already thought of a plan, but I need the perfect timing.” Lucifer grinned creepily as he replied.
“If you’re including me in that plan of yours, count me out.” Belphelegor, the Prince of the Fallen Virtues, laid lazily at the foot of the throne.
“Don’t worry, I’ll do everything myself this time.” This time’s different. No one can point fingers at me this time.
Beelzebub, the Prince of the Fallen Principalities, just sighed heavily as he heard the bickering of his brothers nearby.
“What do you think his plan is?” Astharoth, the Prince of the Fallen Thrones, squinted his eyes as he tapped Beelzebub’s shoulder.
“Don’t know. Don’t care.” He rolled his eyes as he fluttered his wings out to drown out the voices around.
-------------------- // --------------------
One of the many days in hell, the ground began shaking from its foundation.
“What the hell are they doing up there?” Raziel covered his head as debris from the great gulf upwards began to pour.
“This might be my chance.” Lucifer noticed the power play at the surface, and closed his eyes.
“What are you-” Asmodeus drew near.
“Guard my body.” He simply replied, and his body slumped at the throne he made.
Did he just sleep?
-------------------- // --------------------
Samael began possessing the animals that has the affinity with the Fallen energy and he found out that the reptiles were a perfect pair.
He commissioned the body of a serpent and began traversing near the forces that he felt earlier.
His eyes feasted on an opportunity as he saw Michael playing around the waters with Raguel passed out nearby.
He slithered closer to his twin and as his reflection became apparent on the water-
“What are you doing here, buddy?” Michael offered his gentle hands.
“Michael? Is… Is that you?” He tried sounding not too intentional in his approach.
“Who… who are you? How do you know me?” The angel became doubtful and he stood his guard as he began releasing his killing intent.
The body of the snake could hardly contain the pressure. “It’s me… Sam- Samael.” It spoke telepathically.
That should stop him from killing the snake with his aura.
The killing intent suddenly vanished as his eyes glimmered. He immediately hugged the serpent as if hugging a person.
“Wait, wait, don’t kill the snake… I’m not, this is not my body.” The snake struggled between life and death as Michael hugged it tightly.
“What? But how?” Michael suddenly let go.
“I… I tried meditating and somehow my spirit ended up leaving my spiritual or physical body in hell. I tried to find a physical body here on Earth, and the animals are the only living that I can possess freely, since they have no souls.” This was the first time that Michael and Samael learned of possession.
“Spirit Projection? Then, Father would already know that you are here on Earth.” One of the reasons why the angel of Dimension was asked to create hell and paradise was because the rebels should be isolated from the operation of Earth.
“What do you mean? How?” Puzzled by his brother’s words, he inquired to Michael further.
“Living things have the spirit of God, that snake has as well.” Every living being and every creature has the spirit of God. Once the being or creature dies, the spirit of God within will return to the Chief of Heavens.
“How can you tell?”
“My eyes.” The power of Oracle – Michael’s eyes can see the spirit of God inside every living being in the space and time continuum – past, present, and future.
“Oh, I forgot, the eyes of Oracle.”
“How… how are you and the others… down there?” Michael slouched back and curiously asked about the well-being of his fallen brethren.
“I, for one, they’ve been too complainy about things. You know, if I didn’t surrender, we’d all be d-”
Before he could utter the complete word, dead, he took a glimpse at Michael’s face, against the light of the moon, his eyes sunken deep in despair and his tears sparkle in the dark of the night.
“I… I am just glad that you were still alive, you… you and the others.” Michael forced a smile as tears fell down his face.
“Michael…” Though Samael’s situation was pretty pathetic, he only felt pity for his twin in front him tearing up.
‘Sam, I… I didn’t know what happened. I was just playing swords with you, then… then.” Michael looked away in disdain.
“Michael, I felt that you were overtaken by some force, an oracle from Father, what happened?”
Michael, then proceeded to tell Samael, everything from what he uncovered with Raguel’s memories.
“Ahhhh… that’s why he’s lying unconscious gurgling next to you – serves him right.” That made Michael chuckle a little. The snake spit right at Raguel’s face.
“Actually… it was both of you.” From a little smile, Michael’s expression turned to disdain and sorrow.
The amount of sheer pressure from God and the host of Heaven to finish the war was a decisive blow to his merciful side.
“Mike?”
“Why, Sam? If YOU hadn’t started the insurrection, then… then…” The shift in Michael’s tone, blaming Samael for everything, changed the course of the conversation.
“I had to – I know you already realized what I am talking about, especially now, that that Eon is now the new Will controlling you.” Samael tried to prove his point across, but Michael cannot accept it whole-heatedly.
“Do you think that I am that oblivious?” The two continued to argue.
“Oblivious?”
“Don’t you think that I already know or feel what you were saying to me, given that I am the first born?” Michael’s eyes were full of pity and grief altogether.
That kind of irritated Samael a little bit - to see someone feel pity for him.
“Then, why? Why didn’t you raise arms with me?” His arrogance was showing even if the snake does not have noticeable features of emotion, the slithering of its body and pointing of his nose, Samael’s frustration is crystal clear on the snake’s behaviour.
“BECAUSE I KNOW WHAT WILL HAPPEN IF I DO.” Michael banged his palms on his golden armour to get his point across Samael’s mind.
“What do you mean?” Samael was puzzled at Michael’s words. His hands shook and showed signs of fear. The captain, known as the Power of God and the most powerful angel of all, was shaking in fear.
“I was the firstborn. I saw how Father created you and the other brethren, seeing that, observing His powers of Creation, knowing the power of His words, I fathomed how He easily created us; He can easily destroy us as well.” From pity, it quickly transcended to anxiety.
“Then…” Samael discovered the answer to his question, to the puzzle and to the mystery why Michael wouldn’t join him in his cause.
“Yes, you can say that I didn’t have what it takes, or I didn’t have the guts to go against Father, but praising Him, worshipping Him, maintaining this universe, isn’t that bad for me. I get to do what I want granted that it is the will of Father, and granted that I have permission to do so.”
Michael reached out his arms to Samael.
“We already had freedom and free will.”
“Humph.” The snake looked away as to snarl at Michael.
“This isn’t freedom, this isn’t free will. But, I guess being thrown out has given me both of that.” The words that were coming out of the snake didn’t make any sense to Michael at that time.
“What do you mean?”
“Nothing. By the way, we changed our names, I guess, being associated with someone who has thrown you out already is a big insult, from now on, I am Lucifer, the light-bringer. The others as well changed their names.” He darted his eyes back at the snake.
“Hahahhahahhahahha… light-bringer, hahhaha… I guess that’s more fitting.”
“Fitting? Of course, I-”
“Even in Hell, you still associate yourself with Father.” Michael smirked and mocked Samael for that name.
“What?”
Ridiculous.
“Father is the Light, you may have changed your name, but you will always be Sam for me.” At least that sweet smile of Michael to Samael will always stay the same.
“Fine, just for you, I will allow it.” The arrogance of Samael visually appeared with every snob of the snake at their change of words.
“Go back down. Father will be mad if the snake dies from your possession.” He warned his twin the repercussions of dealing directly with the Creator.
“Be at peace.” Samael saluted his brother, and a black layer of dark, thick smoke came out of the snake and into the fiery hole in the ground that formed and disappeared as soon as the Fallen angel came out of the snake.
“Be at peace.”
-------------------- // --------------------
Samael slithered away from Michael and Raguel to locate the human, Adam. And not too long after that, the Earth shook again, but he left the body of the snake as soon as he spotted Raphael due to his powers being connected to nature and animals itself.
Samael found himself visiting Earth many times after that, especially when God created Eve, the helpmeet of the man, Adam.
And one day, as he possessed the serpent once more-
“Sam?”
The woman was quite puzzled as she saw Michael talking to the animal.
The snake slithered near to the two, with its tiny hands and feet, it posture stood menacingly. The woman backed away behind Michael.
“What…”
“One of my brothers, Samael. He was also created by the Light.”
“You have been very sensitive to my presence, Michael, why’ssssss that?” The devil mocked the Prince of Seraphs.
“I’m just happy you came to visit.” Michael docked the questioning.
“How… how come his mouth is not moving but I… hear him?”
“He’s talking to you using your spirit.”
“Spirit? What is that?” The woman wondered and questioned.
“It is something that the Light created us with, this spirit is definite proof that the Light is the one who created us.” Michael tried his best to explain.
“Who is this, another human, I guess?” The snake slithered around the woman, filled with curiosity, trying to appear not knowing what’s happening in the Garden.
“She is… Father created her to be the one for Adam, a lifelong companion. She is-” Michael answered Samael in a truthful manner that night, but he didn’t expect that something will occur the next days because of the slithering snake.
-------------------- // --------------------
On that dreary day in the Garden…
“Ye shall not surely die: For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.” Samael sneaked past Michael and his other siblings to talk to Eve about a specific fruit in the garden, the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.
“But…”
“Come on… Did you really think that the Creator will kill for eating this fruit?” He snickered from behind her, and tempted her of the fruit.
“I…”
“You will be like gods, who know good and evil!” He whispered into her ears, and as she took her first bite, her eyes was opened.
“I… I should give this to Adam as well.” She grew worried for her partner.
“Of course, go on.” The serpent became so greedily overcome with joy. In his eyes, he destroyed the holy relationship of man and the Creator by tempting the human to commit disobedience.
“See. I told you, you won’t die from eating it.” He followed through making sure that Adam took a bite as well.
As soon as they partake of the fruit, the glory of the Creator that was protecting them vanished and they were naked.
“Adam…” The two sowed fig leaves together to clothe themselves and heard the voice of the LORD calling for the two of them.
“Where art thou?” HE called out for him.
“I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself.” He answered coming out from the bushes near the forbidden trees.
“Who told thee that thou wast naked? Hast thou eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldest not eat?” The Creator’s voice rattled in anger and frustration.
Adam and Eve trembled in fear. They paused and hesitated to even let out a word, but-
“The woman whom thou gavest to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I did eat.” Adam pointed out the fault to be of the woman, whilst Eve pointed out the temptations of the serpent.
As the LORD listened to the humans and the serpent, the lightning and thunder grew louder as the Heavens roared in grief.
The Archangels immediately picked up their paces, and flew down to the Garden of Eden, only to discover Samael possessing the body of the serpent.
“Go! You are no longer welcome in the Garden of Eden. I will set my angels to the entrances of my Garden and if you ever set foot again, you will be decimated by the Guardians.” The LORD drove Adam and Eve out of the garden as the angels around stood guard.
“What have you done this time, Samael?” Raguel, the angel of Justice, approached the old serpent with caution.
“I’ve become the guide of the humans, Raguel.” He boastfully responded.
“Guide?” The angel squinted his eyes as he distanced himself from the talking animal.
“You should know. Father only orders us to do things, but I have given the humans free will to decide for their own.” The spirit gleefully slid towards the bank of the Euphrates river.
“Where do you think you’re going? Did you not do enough damage already?! STOP THIS INSTANT!” Raguel stomped his feet angrily like a child having a tantrum.
“As if that’s going to stop me, brother.” The snake looked back at the angel. “You stop your childish manners, it’s unsightly of you.” He sneered at him and led the snake to drown in the river, leaving the possession of it and redeeming back his actual body in hell.
The old serpent’s body visibly floated as soon as it drowned and the spirit of the animal cried out to Raphael, the angel of nature.
“What happened?” Raphael transferred his consciousness to the plants nearby the beach and spotted Raguel.
“Samael possessed one of your precious animals.” His response rushed out of his mouth too fast for Raphael to even react.
That seemed to have worked, but He still cared for the humans. He still cared for them in the end, than He did with us.
Samael gritted his teeth as his consciousness drifted back to his body back in hell.
“Fine. I’ll play by your rules.” His look of grimace transformed into a creepy grin, with a hint of madness and anguish.
“What do you have in mind?” Mammon approached Lucifer wearing a eerie smile on his face.
“We’re going to establish our kingdom on earth.”
And so he did. Spectras trouble people by haunting things, houses, and solitary places. Obsession outwardly whispers disquieting things to people that vex the soul, the heart, and the spirit. Possession enter inwardly and disturb the natural balance of the spirit and soul and leaves a perturbed spiritual body of the human, whilst fairies prophesy, consort, transport, and grants the wishes of the greed of human.
