The Fateful Mixup

Marinette and Adrien headed to a nearby ice cream shop and entered the building. Once they got their ice cream they sat on an outdoor table. "So, what do you want to do later?" Adrien asked Marinette who was sipping at her ice cream sundae with a straw. "There are some great video games back at the apartment or we could go see a movie." He suggested. Marinette smiled, "Whatever we do, it will be great as a long as you are with me." She said leaning across the table toward him. He leaned in towards her until their faces were inches apart. "So…" Marinette hesitated, "I've noticed that you have been calling me your girlfriend. Is this a thing now or…?" Marinette looked longingly into Adrien's bright green eyes. "If you'll have me." Adrien replied. Marinette's cheeks blazed with bright red. "Yes," She let out in a small voice and Adrien and Marinette shared a kiss. "So, a movie then." Marinette suggested with a wide grin. "Let's go m'lady." Adrien said taking Marinette's hand in his. The couple couldn't have been happier as they watched the movie together and then headed back to the apartment. They thought nothing could go wrong, but oh were they mistaken. When they arrived at the apartment Marinette said goodnight to Adrien and changed into her pajamas. She was about to get into bed when she heard the door to the house open. "That's weird" she said to herself, why would Adrien be leaving now, and the door was locked? Marinette was startled to hear a female voice speaking to someone who was with her. She peeked around the door of her room to get a look at the intruders. She was surprised to see a woman who looked a lot like Adrien's mother grabbing a few bags that were in the room and speaking to someone on the phone. Then she saw who she assumed to be Adrien across the room not seeming to notice the woman. Marinette panicked and did what she thought was best. She slipped out of her room and snuck over to "Adrien". She grabbed him by the hand startling him and rushed him to her room breathing hard. He didn't say anything but looked a little shocked. "You could've been seen," She whispered to him. This boy was actually Felix, Adrien's cousin, who was an almost exact lookalike of Adrien, so he understood why this girl had him confused, but what was she doing here? Felix was known for being mean and tricky and he thought he would have a little fun. "Oh, sorry I didn't see her." He said in a deep voice that took Marinette back a bit. Footsteps began to approach the room and Marinette pulled him into a closet and held her breath. Felix was amused and couldn't wait for the shock and surprise she would get when she realized he wasn't his cousin. "Felix? Where are you?" Amelie said coming into the room and then she left and entered Adrien's room where he was just about to go to bed. He was still in his clothes for the day luckily when Amelie walked in and instinctively pulled him off the bed. "Felix this is not the time for dily dalying. Mr. Agreste is arriving in 15 minutes and we need to be out of here by then." Adrien's eyes were wide, his aunt thought he was his cousin Felix and where was the actual Felix? "Okay.. a.. mom." Adrien said with a fake smile and followed her out of the room. He couldn't blow his cover, but he also didn't want Marinette to be found. He stood awkwardly as Amelie handed him some bags and motioned for him to go out with her. He had no choice but to follow and headed off with Amelie.

When Felix and Marinette heard the door close. Marinette started to move towards the closet door, but Felix held her back. "Let me go Adrien." She said pulling toward the door but instead Felix cornered Marinette in the corner of the closet tightening his grip on her wrist. "Adrien stop, this isn't like you." She said struggling in his grip. Felix lifted Marinette's chin up to his face and she saw a sinister glare in his green eyes that was not like Adrien at all. Marinette's heart sank why was Adrien being so rough with her? "I thought.. we.. promised each other." She said while struggling. Felix chuckled and then broke his silence. "How oblivious. You really think I'm Adrien, don't you?" He mocked. Marinette felt the blood leave her face as she realized that this wasn't Adrien. "What do you want?" She asked still pulling at his arm to loosen the grip. "I want to know who you are and what your doing here?" He said grinning. "You first!" Marinette yelled. "Whoa there," he said as she began to kick at him. "I'm Felix Gran de Vanily, Adrien's cousin. This is his apartment that we have been staying at for the past couple weeks and you are the intruder. Now tell me your name." He demanded. "Marinette," she squeaked as he pushed her into the wall. "Pretty name," Felix said finally letting her go only to place his hand around her shoulders. "Get away from me." Marinette said. Felix moved in closer and she could feel his hot breath on her face. She clenched her fists and shut her eyes when all of a sudden someone else entered the apartment. Felix backed away and Marinette let out a sigh of relief. He opened the closet door and then pulled Marinette along with him. She didn't want to know who was in the apartment because she had a good idea of who it could be. "Felix please!" She shrieked as he pulled her towards the door. But he didn't listen, and he opened the door. Gabriel Agreste had just taken off his coat and was setting his things down when he saw Felix approaching with a reluctant looking Marinette being dragged behind him. "Uncle it's me, Felix." He said tossing Marinette out in front of him, so she flew down to Gabriel's feet. She couldn't believe this was happening. It felt like a nightmare that she couldn't wake up from. "Who do we have here?" Gabriel said bending over Marinette who was curled up in a ball on the floor. Felix moved in and grabbing her shoulders pulled her up to face him. Marinette was petrified and her mind went numb. "You were foolish to come here." He said then he turned to Felix. "Tie her up, we will use her as bait to lure Adrien into a trap." Felix shoved Marinette into a chair and fastened her arms and legs tightly to the chair posts. She resisted to urge to cry as the ropes cut into her skin. "Felix," Gabriel called from across the room. "What is it?" Felix said annoyed. He left Marinette and she let out a whisper to Tikki. "Tikki, take my earrings please." She said choking back sobs. "Marinette, I don't want to leave you with them." Tikki said concerned. "I'll be fine just hurry." She said. Tikki unfastened the earrings and flew off gazing at Marinette as she went. She had to get help but wasn't sure where to go now. Gabriel approached her and placed his cold hand on her shoulder and the other on the back of the chair. He then dragged her to a back room and shut the door locking it leaving Marinette in the darkness.
