'sigh', James picked himself up from the floor, patting the dust off his clothes. He then looked around, taking in his surroundings before a familiar voice sounded in his ear.
[The host has successfully made it to safety. The system will now set a quest.]

Hearing this, James set off to find out some information, he would start by looking for a library.
After several minutes of wondering up and down many different roads, he finally stumbled upon the building he had been looking for. It was located on the corner of a road in a slightly upper class area of the town. A set of black, marble stairs led up to a grand white building with huge windows along the walls, allowing enough natural light inside to illuminate the pages of the books. Nailed onto the two large wooden doors at the entrance, there was a metal engraved sign reading 'Oreson town public library'.
The doors, being quite heavy, required James to exert a lot of strength to open them as he pulled the cold silver handle towards his body. After some struggle, the door finally gave way, revealing the peaceful interior of the library.
Once inside, James made his way over to the row titled 'History', knowing that this would be the best place to start learning about the world. The first book he picked up was rather heavy, it had a thin layer of dust, and it was titled 'Crion meeting the universe'.
Intrigued by the title, James opened the first page while still standing in front of the shelf. He slowly lifted the front cover which had a beautiful illustration of the universe that had faded slightly into the brown leather behind it. Startling James, the system made a 'ding' before announcing
[New system feature unlocked:
Book scanning (lv1): This feature allows the host to quickly flip through books while the system scans all of the data within. The system will then inject all information directly into the hosts memory where it can be recalled naturally. The skill can be levelled up by repeated use.]
James' small brown eyes widened in shock. He then flipped through a few pages of the book to test the skill, sure enough, with every new page he turned to, he felt as if he had read all of the information multiple times and allowed it to fully sync in to his memory.
Making haste, James flipped through the rest of the thick book before placing it back on the shelf. He was once again shocked by the ability of the system as he stood in a daze for a few minutes, digesting all of the information. There was a lot of important things he had leant from this book alone. Firstly, he discovered that the planet he was on currently was called Crion. Until 10,000 years ago, Crion was an independent planet just like where he lived in his past life. The people of Crion were unaware of any sorts of life out in the universe until, one day, they broke out of the barrier on the edge of their solar system during a space exploration mission led by a few of the top cultivators. When the barrier was broke, they were introduced to a whole new world of higher cultivation and other civilizations in space. they were welcomed into the universe by a sect that ruled over their galaxy, known as the Fruzar sect, named after a their guardian- a dragon lord. There was a lot of other pieces of information, but these were the most important to James as they had just confirmed that this planet had established connections across the universe.
He was floating away in a bubble of his imagination when suddenly, someone burst it, popping him back into reality. James leaped forward and spun his body around in order to face the person who had just placed their hand on his shoulder. Stood in front of him was an old man, he had a shiny bald head and a long white beard. He stood with his back slightly arched, holding a wooden stick in his right hand to support his weak frame.
"Oho, quite a feisty one you are." the old man chuckled at the skinny, black haired child before him, who was seemingly ready for a battle based on his raised fists and lowered stance. "Don't worry kid, I'm not going to attack you. I just noticed how quickly you finished that book and wanted some tips on reading." the man said with a smirk on his face. As the librarian, he frequently had poor, uneducated youths entering the library despite not even being able to read. He made it his own duty to kick them out, or maybe even humiliate them by asking them a few questions about the book that they pretended to read.
After dropping his stance, James shrugged at the man before turning around and picking up the next book on the shelf.
The librarian was dumbfounded as he stared at the back of the boys small head. 'Did he just ignore me?' he questioned himself while watching James flip through the next book, as if he had forgotten about his existence entirely.
Knowing that other people around the library are watching and unwilling to accept defeat to a brat, the man reached out for James' shoulder for the second time. This time, he put a bit more strength into his arm, startling James.
"Sigh, what do you want now?" asked James with a tired tone in his voice, like he was talking to a misbehaving child who kept on nagging him.
This clearly offended the librarian as his face turned red and his left hand formed a tight fist at his waist. He regained his composure quickly though, then cleared his throat before speaking. "ahem, kid, since you just finished reading 'Crion meeting the universe' do you mind telling me something I have forgotten?" he asked while sneering at James, who still had an indifferent expression on his face.
"What is it that you need to know?" asked James impatiently, he had already realised what the sly old man was trying to do and couldn't be bothered playing along. He wanted to get rid of this old nuisance as soon as possible so he could scan the rest of the books in the library.
