Place in mind

Cassie escaped through the bathroom window. She jumped through it in haste that she did not even have the time to calculate her landing. As result, her butt descended on the ground with a thud.

"Ouchie!"

The girl yelped in pain all the while caressing the cheek of her butt that connected on the ground; thanks to the pump of adrenaline coursing through her vein at that time, Cassie was not rendered helpless by the pain. It did not take that long for her before she became unbothered by the soreness in the cheek of her butt.

At this point, her head was flooded with thoughts of uncertainty but Cassie knew well enough that she was not out of danger yet.

Any minute, her possessed friend could show up again and start attacking her, and there was no way she would let that happen again, knowing that she did not have the courage to raise a hand against Ana, let alone confront the other party.

"Talking her out of this is definitely out of my options either. There is no way I can talk sense to her as long as she was possessed by who knew what that thing is."

Cassie mumbled to herself and with that thought in mind, Cassie did not dare waste a minute of her time and she ran as fast as her two feet could take her. It goes without saying that given her current situation, she was not in the liberty of time to stop running and ponder over the events that have been going on in her life.

Determined to get as far as possible to her apartment and put as much distance as she could between her and Ana, Cassie continued to run away even without a specific place in mind. She wandered aimlessly at the empty road with nowhere to go. One should not forget the fact that it was already late at night and she did not exactly have other places where she could stay over.

Running with all her might, it only took a matter of time before Cassie felt like both her lungs and legs were giving up. She was already running out of breath, but it was only when she felt certain that she already gotten far enough that Ana would not be able to catch up did she dare to stop running.

'Phew!'

She exhaled a deep mouthful of air as soon as she came to a halt and while she was eagerly gasping for her breath, Cassie made use of that time as well to look around her.

"I just wish she was as slow as Ana."

The girl muttered under her breath, hoping against the odds that the physical restrictions of her friend's body would at least slow the advancement, if not stop whoever that thing which possessed Ana.

When her ragged breathing had somewhat returned to normal and she was no longer panting relentlessly as compared to earlier, Cassie decided to move somewhere else again. But before she could even get that far, she started to feel that her legs were wobbling like jelly as though they could no longer hold her weight.

"I guess this is as far as I can go for now."

She whispered softly and as if resigning to her faith, Cassie allowed herself to collapse on the ground. Cassie looked up at the dark night sky and above her, she could see the full moon hanging out peacefully along with the stars which from afar, looked no different from diamonds.

"Where to go?"

She asked out loud, although her question was not directed to anyone in particular. But then while she was in deep contemplation, an idea suddenly crossed her mind and her face lit up.

"Right! Why I haven't thought about him? At this point, I can't afford to be picky anymore; anywhere would do"

Her hope gave her energy and all of a sudden, Cassie felt revitalized again; feeling like she regained the strength that became depleted not long ago. Slowly, she rose to her feet and picked her pace, and once more she headed somewhere, this time, with a specific place in mind.
